Good food and service
I ate there early one night so the service was very fast and caring. The menu was relatively short but had some god choices. I chose the fish entree and it was excellent: perfectly cooked and very fresh.

Chef Ria Paz Montes is amazing! This is a destination restaurant! Whether you live her or you are visiting, this is a must. First you are served popovers that are fabulous. I broke my cardinal rule of nor ordering the same thing twice. Her Caesar salad was to die for and the short ribs with grits was a taste of comfort food like no other. Rarely do I recommend hotel restaurants, this one you have to try. Did I mention the duck confit on the breakfast menu? Unbelievable! Thank you Chef and your team. I can't wait to dine with you again!

This is on the 3rd floor of the Conrad, and is an expansive, contemporary setting. Tables are judiciously spaced, most consisting of furniture (sofas, stuffed chairs) on either side of a center table spaced around floor to ceiling expansive windows overlooking the area, on the perimeter with a large bar central. Soft contemporary music, fireplace add to serenity. Food excellently prepared and unique (โbreadโ is a prepared Yorkshire pudding type pastry). I had hush puppies, nicely done, Spicy , though crab was only a hint . Steak was a 10 oz ribeye, prepared correctly, but thin cut and of lesser quality , but for only $36, you get what you pay for. Vegans will be impressed by the variety of well prepared small plates, mushrooms were a fine concoction of several varieties in a rich mushroom sauce. All wines are available glass or bottle, generally 1 choice of each varietal of each major wine growing appellation. Unlike most DC restaurants, no โautomaticโ tip, and service very good as a result. Overall, very nice.
Be the first to ReplyWorst Brunch Ever
I can honestly say I cannot remember when I have been so underwhelmed by a meal. My husband and I met another couple there for brunch on a Sunday at 12:30. We should have known it would not be a good experience when we walked into the restaurant and there was only one other couple there. When ordering, I asked for the chicken and waffles (I had perused the menu before we came). The waiter said they did not have the chicken and waffles. I told him I saw it on the website, and he said that it is a new menu they have not started serving that particular dish yet. I ended up ordering the shareable chicken and biscuit which was horrible. Two others in the party had the shrimp and rice risotto and one person had the duck confit benedict. The only good thing about this restaurant is that they took the price of the chicken and biscuit off of our bill. Neither the food nor the ambience of this restaurant compels any of us to come back. We were so underwhelmed and hungry we found another restaurant in the area to enjoy dessert.

We were staying at the Conrad and decided to eat here one night and booked a dinner reservation in the main dining room. When we arrived, we were told they had closed the main dining room early and we would have to be seated in the lounge. I donโt really enjoy fine dining in a bar lounge. The hostess was very nice and tried to accommodate us at a table away from the bar, and fortunately the bar was not crowded or noisy. The table ended up being ok, but there were people in the dining room and Iโm not sure why we couldnโt be seated there, but ok, letโs make the best of it. Our server was friendly and very nice. Half way through the meal, we were told we would have a new server. He had to review our order to be sure the handover was right. It seemed strange. The great (and most important thing) about the night was the food. It was delicious. We ordered the chilled smoked rockfish dip as a starter to share with our cocktails. The dip was outstanding and a perfect accompaniment to our Martinis. We then shared the grilled caesar salad which was delicious. It had an anchovy cashew crumble, smoked Parmesan and pickled onions which made for a perfect combination. We were surprised the kitchen didnโt split it for us, but it was fine. For our entrees we had the roasted quail. It was perfectly cooked and served with a foie dirty rice, cannellini beans and jus. Delicious! We also had the rockfish with vegetables and again, the fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. All of the food was excellent. Overall we had a wonderful meal even with a couple glitches to start I rate this restaurant 5 stars and I wouldnโt hesitate to dine here again. The prices were also very reasonable for an upscale hotel restaurant.

Jackie was amazing and SO accommodating! Literally had the best time and the BEST cocktails at this restaurant bar. She was literally a 10/10 experience. Thank you so much Jackie!
Be the first to ReplyActually closed, you eat in the bar
Well, for what it is, they do well given the circumstances. Even with the limited seating and limited menu; they make it up in service. But seriously, at $300 for 2 for dinner, I would expect so much more. We stayed at the Conrad, so it was convenient. But you can do so much better just down the street. The price points are largely hype, nothing special here. $60 ribeye and $40 sea Bass, $50 a dozen oysters and $20 starter salads. Entre is just that, the overprice sides will get you. If money is no option, go. The food is good, just not the level of good they charge. And they do make a killer desert selection.

The actual restaurant is closed but they're serving a smaller version of the menu at the lounge and dinner was absolutely amazing. All food was cooked to the perfect temperature and tenderness. The terrace served as the perfect backdrop and Allison was absolutely amazing. Thank you for an actual diamond of the rough evening for 2020.
Be the first to ReplySerene environment and lovely service, food is fantastic!
I had breakfast in Estuary, quite enjoyed it.
It is a very elegant and serene restaurant. When walking in the restaurant in the morning, it makes the whole day wake up and feel so refresh.
The service is very tender and the staff asks for the requirement and explain how they do the breakfast. All can match my requirement and I feel quite happy to have this lovely breakfast.
It is a great hotel to stay Conrad as well and wish I can go back again soon.
Great lunch
Walked over from the Marriott Marquis for lunch while waiting for our room to be ready for check in. What a great find! The food was great and so was the service. Very impressed with this hotel restaurant. Make a point to eat here while in DC.
Be the first to ReplyGreat appetizers and dessert
Overall, we had a good group dinner at Estuary. This is a higher-end restaurant at the new Conrad hotel near the Convention Center; with reservations, we were able to easily seat 8 of us for a business dinner. For drinks, they had a fantastic whiskey list.
The appetizers here were fantastic. We ordered several and passed around, and didn't have a bad one at all. For the main dish, I ordered the hangar steak, which was just OK; the meat was tough, while the flavor was good. I guess that's what I get for ordering steak at a seafood restaurant! Consensus was that the meat dishes were just OK, but the seafood options were very good..but consensus was that the appetizers and dessert far outshone the main dishes. We finished the meal with some shareable desserts, which were excellent, and picked up the OK dinner.
I'd return, but probably would go with one of the seafood options.
Essential Estuary!
Estuary should definitely be on your list of fine dining spots in the District! This one year old, sleek modern has all the right ingredients to provide a memorable dining evening. Upscale, but not pretentious, with a winning vibe, Estuary seeks to artfully exploit the Chesapeake Bay areaโs rich bounty of food ingredients. It succeeds in a very admirable way. While located in the stylish Conrad hotel, it should not be mistaken for such...our recent dinner was worthy of the best accolades afforded to fine โdestinationโ restaurants. Chefs Bryan and Michael Voltaggio, fully live up to all the hype regarding their creativity and execution. They know their craft and artfully delivered. The menu, recently redone, invites diners to sample the many flavors on offer through small plates at relatively modest prices. The more ambitious can opt for a multi-course tasting menu (which I will certainly try when I come off my post-Christmas diet). Service was excellent. A special note on the dining experience. All three of us loved the dining roomโs feel. Located on the hotelโs third floor, the dining room is triangular in shape with two sides of floor to ceiling windows overlooking the modern glass towers of CityCenterDC and surrounding buildings and a small park at Ninth and New York. Itโs all very โother cityโ than traditional Washington...and very refreshing. At night the angles, gleaming glass towers and lights outdoors are very appealing. The third โwallโ is the open kitchen, which we all enjoyed watching (and where our celebrity chefs toiled throughout our meal). Weโll be back to this appealing modern often.
Be the first to ReplyVery good hotel restaurant.
I only had breakfast, but I was impressed by the servic service and the food. However, it appeared to do well for dinner so I am guessing its a great option when you do not want to venture out.
Be the first to ReplyGood Food, Great Vibe

Made reservations here on NYE while staying at the Conrad. They were offering a 4-course tasting menu with wine paring so figured what a perfect NYE dinner. Well it was defineitly underwhelming. It seems like they sacrificed the look for the taste when it came to the meal. The presentation was on point but the actual taste, flavor and that "mmm this is why we came here" feeling was not there. To add to it the wine parings selected by the sommelier were terrible. I have had many wine pairing and my experience has been at least 90% of the wines complement and enhance the flavors of the dishes....not the case here. Don't know what it exactly what it was but they (chefs) missed the mark...at least on that night...which happened to be NYE. And when your clients are spending that much money on dinner...the expectations are that much higher.
Be the first to ReplyMagical Evening
I have been to Estuary many times, but two weeks ago, for the first time, found it offers a seven -course chefโs menu. My daughter and I have been to many best restaurants in the region, and we were impressed by the whole ensemble.
The whole evening was magical, since we sat by the window with the Christmas tree and lights at City Center plaza as backdrop. The meal started out with small creative bites, then proceeded like a well- pace orchestration moving into the delicious fish and tender rib main dishes, then reached the crescendo of the marvelous dessert! I will not hesitate to vote it the best value in town!
