Sad to learn my review is too late to be viewed by the owners and staff. Back in September 2023, I was gifted tickets to check out The Neil Diamond Musical A Beautiful Noise. I headed to the city wary to find parking, just so happened a grabbed a spot right in front of Etc Etc. With some time to spear my guest and I decided to grab a quick bite. I looked up and said meet me here. I started with a ginger- peach margarita and when my guest arrived we ordered fried calamari. Both were good. The margarita was refreshing and calamari was cooked to perfection. For entrees we both decided on the White and Black Sesame Crusted Roasted Salmon. We subbed the lentil salad for broccoli and decided on the cactus pear margarita as the next cocktail. My salmon was cooked perfectly however, my companion's was undercooked. The cactus pear margarita was even better than my first choice. This was the perfect pre-Broadway show dining spot. Just A Note: From the owners... It is with the heaviest of hearts that, after almost 19 years, we have to shut down our wonderful restaurant on November 1st, 2023.

I'm heartbroken over the loss of my go-to restaurant after so many years. I'll miss Daniele and the entire staff. So many special occasions celebrated here, so much joy and friendship. I'll not soon forget Etcetera Etcetera. Blessings to everyone who took care of us over the years.
Be the first to ReplyIt was an unassuming, mediocre Italian meal.
Water tasted like it had sanitizer in it, which was pretty unsettling. A fine place for pre-theatre in a rush but won't be going back.

Location is excellent of course if you are planning to watch a show etc. the ambience is not stifling but chic. Not overly stuffy but still with an edge of formality. Although the service is prompt, courteous and on-time if you ask for the server's opinion on what to order they may just read the menu out back to you. In other words they said everything was good which isn't entirely helpful They are very well educated about their wines though since the collection is not exhaustive. The portions are large. A bit too large. The food is rich which makes you crave some of the simplicity of rural Italian or country Italian food. But that's ok This place doesn't pretend to be what it isn't. You will get a solid meal, promptly and without fuss but you may not remember it a month later.

Came here with a friend who has a gluten allergy and the food was amazing. So was my drink! Definitely recommend for the the food and in the middle of broadway. The only thing I found wanting was the ambience. It was a little dated and the bathrooms had that sticky feeling.

We were ecstatic to confirm the availability of gluten-free gnocchi and ravioli! Both are always on the menu and were delicious. The staff was very friendly and watchful. The wine list is nice and includes several half bottles, which is always a delight when we are just a two-top. We went with a 12 year-old Barolo and were very happy. Lastly, our our reserved table was available as soon as we arrived. Lovely meal.

My friend recently planned a surprise birthday dinner for me here! The indoor decor is cute & dimly lit Italian restaurant. I would say, one dislike is that a patron had his dog inside, and he was continuously barking at one point. I am very dog friendly, however during intimate dinner times, this just wasn't appropriate. Our waiter, David was phenomenal! He was so attentive and very personable. We started with the bread and the calamari. The bread was amazing with the sauce on the side and I did like the calamari, but the portion wasn't a shareable size (there were 3 people). The marinara sauce complimented the calamari well. One thing I can say about the drinks, they did their thing! I had the ginger-peach margarita, and I switched the liquor out for reposado and it was so good. I was feeling it after two drinks. For the entree, I had the squid ink pasta, and it was tasty! I tried a few bites of my friend's Cornish hen, and it was soooo good. For dessert, we shared the Valrhona Chocolate cake with the vanilla gelato. The size was perfect because we were full off of our entrees. David sang Happy Birthday to me and my gosh, that man needs a raise and he needs to be a star. I would recommend this restaurant for a date night or a birthday dinner.

I ate here with a friend last night before going to see a show nearby. The food and service were good, but we had an odd experience after leaving. I paid with a credit card, tipped over 20%, and put all copies of the receipt back in the receipt back in the binder for the waiter to take. After we left, my friend received a voicemail from the waiter stating that I had taken both copies of the receipt and he needed to confirm the tip/total amount. I never take a copy of the receipt (signed or otherwise), but checked my wallet/pockets to make sure I hadn't done it by mistake (I hadn't). We called him back, and I told him that I did not take any copy of the receipt and had, in fact, placed all copies (including the signed copy) back in the binder. He acted a bit oddly and said that he hadn't had time to look around the table to see if it fell out/etc. (but somehow still had time to call us and accuse me of taking both receipts?). I get that the waiter needed the signed receipt for his tip, but perhaps don't rush off accosting/accusing patrons who have already left and try looking around the restaurant first. Super odd experience that put a damper on our dinner.

Excellent, fresh gluten free pasta! Cool restaurant, comfortable atmosphere. Very aware of and accommodating of allergies. I ordered the gluten free tagliatelle bolognese. It tastes just like real pasta! Great texture. My mother had the pork Milanese and she was really satisfied with that. I'd come back if I was in town !

The atmosphere of the restaurant in phenomenal and the waiters are fun and friendly. The service is amazing and the food is too. The grilled skirt steak is delicious and the lemon sorbet is a great desert. I definitely recommend.

No exaggeration, an unforgettable meal that I rate in the top 5 meals of my life. I have celiac disease and the gluten-free options were out of this world!!! I closed my eyes to savor every bite of the gluten free ravioli. This meal made my life complete! Also... Best waiters EVER!

The authentic Italian food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service was amazing but our waiter is what really shined. He was constantly making me and my family laugh. The ambiance was was good but ok. It good at discerning it, sorry.
Be the first to ReplyLackluster.
Not the flavors I was hoping for. The atmosphere did not speak Italian at all. I'm sure anyone can cook Italian, but Italians do it best. All dishes were lacking depth of flavor and replaced with a large handful of salt. The service was slow while the place was only half full.

This place was fabulous! From the food to the service we were all very happy. Between the four of us we had ravioli, gnocchi, salmon and eggplant parm and all of us loved our dish. This is a fantastic option after a play!I also want to mention- they accommodated our gluten free friend and offered a candle and song for the birthday girl :)

Etcetera Etcetera Restaurant is a tasty treat and a rare find, a friendly bar and Italian restaurant that combines easy elegance in a cozy, modern setting conveniently located in the Hell's Kitchen just steps away from Broadway and Times Square. We liked its sleek, gorgeous interior and welcoming, courteous staff and absolutely fell in love with the food they presented-an enticing combination of Italian and Mediterranean cuisines. Everything we tried was simple but incredibly tasty with flavors that just burst in your mouth and make you crave more. Even the complimentary bread which apparently they bake on premises was so fresh and delicious that it was practically impossible to stop after only 1 bite.Appetizers were outstanding-light, scrumptious, mouthwatering and a perfect start to the meal. Main dishes were on point as well-lamb shank was perfectly cooked, meat was very juicy, succulent and luscious, pasta dishes were unbelievably delectable especially Casoncelli (veal, raisins, and amaretto cookies ravioli with brown butter, crispy sage, and pancetta!) but the handmade Gnocchi with truffles in special Siciliano cream sauce were superb as well. Honorable mention goes to bartender who mixes a life altering cocktails and of course to die for desserts: Budino della Nonna (Bittersweet chocolate pudding with toasted hazelnuts and whipped cream) and Bread pudding with blackberry compote! All in all it was a fabulous dining experience and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.

I had the prosciutto wrapped in melon and bacon, homemade gnocchi and everything was delicious. The martinis were phenomenal and the wait staff was wonderful. I would definitely dine here again and if you are looking for great pasta, give this place a try.

Came here after online gf reviews, friends and family recommendations. We got here and the entire reason we originally booked was for the gnocchi. Gf gnocchi for me, regular for the dude. Well, we get there and they don't have either that night. Whomp whomp. Ended up with the gf ravioli and he ended up with something off the menus. Both were delicious and absolutely worth it. The ravioli had an al dente quality to it that is hard to find in gf pasta. Worth a second trip (and hopefully gnocchi).
Be the first to ReplyStill Amazing even post-covid.
If you're GF, the pasta here is to live for. Convenient if you're staying in Times Square area. If so, condolences. But EtcEtc might actually make it worth it. I'm sure there are 100's of amazing GF places spread across the entirety of Manhattan but this one deserves it's place.
Be the first to ReplyI really like this place.
Been there several times when we visit NY. Nice wine list and great menu items. Also have brought larger parties and they were able to accommodate us. The service is always great. I have had the rigatoni, orecchiette, grouper, lamb shank among others. All excellent dishes. Look forward to visiting again soon.

Our server, David ย was hysterical and also efficient. ย No one had anything bad to say about their meal; a difficult accomplishment in a party if 7 foodies. ย I very highly recommend

Came in on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday, wasn't too busy and was able to get to our reserved table right on time. The overall vibe was quite relaxed in an upscale way. Our waiter was attentive and all of the food came out quickly. I ordered the appetizer eggplant parmigiana which was stellar. The others at my table ordered various types of pasta which they all said were tasty. Definitely one of the better Italian restaurants I've been to, but nothing super revolutionary. Just keep in mind that the prices are a bit high, though they're about what you expect in the City. Would recommend!
Be the first to ReplyMediocre early 2000s decor with even more mediocre food.
Nothing was bad enough to send back. But I would never recommend Etcetra again. I'd encourage friends to check out literally anywhere else in hopes of getting something worth trying. I had the spaghetti with crab and it was just slightly short of gross. Bar stools were uncomfortable.

Went here prior to David Byrne's incredible Broadway show AMERICAN UTOPIA. Being in the heart of the theatre district I didn't have high expectations for an authentic Italian meal to begin with, but I wasn't expecting one star lower than an Olive Garden bowl of pasta. A solid bowl of spaghetti would have satisfied me, or a simply cooked piece of fish. Sadly, only the Focaccia bread brought to us when we first were seated would be the highlight of our pre-Broadway show dinner. We were seated scrunched in by two entrances. When I scooted over to the empty chair at our table, I was told I was blocking the coffee station behind the curtains. So why was the chair there? Our appetizer of calamari could have been straight out of a frozen food box from the freezer section of Big Lots. Somewhere inside those rings of fried, greasy bread crumbs I assumed were pieces of fish, I just never found much more than a few slivers. My entree of red snapper livornese did nothing for my taste buds except tease them as they begged my mouth for a drop of flavor. I tried my friend's entree of spaghetti with crabmeat in a light cream sauce. Sounds yummy right? WRONG. Just another snooze fest. of overcooked pasta turned into pasty baby food with an occasional guest visit by a piece of shredded crabmeat. Before my taste buds gave up on me and checked out for the evening, I believe I heard David Byrne singing to them "I'm on the road to nowhere". ย Servers were nice, decor was fine, location was convenient.

Food was mediocre, service was super, super slow, and was never refilled. If you're looking for good food and good service, go elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyFast and good dinner before a show.
It's difficult to find a restaurant that can take care of a pre show crowd efficiently and they do it beautifully.
