Perfect.
This is what good dining should be. Loud and intimate and charming when busy, but the food is balanced and new and interesting and wonderful. The staff was amazing; the drinks were delicious, and the food was phenomenal. A must-go. (My only warning would be to be careful of nuts, they were in almost every item).

I had the pleasure of eating at Etto on my recent trip to Dublin. It's a small unassuming restaurant with alot of personality. The restaurant was super busy, yet there was a reassuring calmness from the staff. Service was great, super-friendly, knowledgable and attentive. For dinner, I started with the Scallop crudo with radish, pomelo, buttermilk and horseradish. It was AMAZING! The flavors worked so well together and the scallop was so tender. (I just started daydreaming about the dish and wish I were back there right now to have another plate!) For my main I had the Aged Parmesan Ravioli with sweet corn, cep, calçot leek and roasted hazelnut pesto. Another amazing dish! At first I was concerned with the corn, as it had been charred and I was afraid it would overpower the dish, but it did not. It was the perfect blend of flavors and textures. And to finish my meal, I had the Whisky Caramel tart with milk ice cream. I thought I had just died and gone to heaven. What a great way to finish an incredible meal. I had some great recommendations and wine pairings with the meal, including a fabulous Vin Santo to go with the Caramel Tart. I highly recommend ETTO if you are in Dublin!

A small, modern-vibe restaurant and wine bar hidden behind black-framed doors in the Merrion Row restaurant district. Only tall bar-side seating for one individual's reservation. Came in 30 minutes before my reservation and was offered the tall seating as expected.Environment: small and narrow interior, seats and tables are a bit small, need to put in some work to squeeze around, music and noise could be a bit loud.Service: friendly, reommended the oysters to me. But it took about 15-20 minutes after my oysters and the starter of croquettes till the main course was served.Raw: daily oyster from the west coast of Ireland. Small to medium size, rich and vibrant flavor of seaweed, briney mineral water, and egg white. Sauce was a bit too vinegary for me. Starter: hake and chorizo croquettes. Hot, crispy outside, hake flesh tasted wild and nutty, but seasoning a bit too salty. Went well with the house mayonnaise. Main Course: steamed halibut. Halibut steamed to perfection, sauce adding sweet and savory flavor to the filet. Mushrooms are a bit bland and redundant; wish seaweeds or samphire would be served. Over all: 4-4.5 stars. Solid place, maybe better for lunch than dinner since the place has relatively limited space.
Be the first to ReplyWow, wow, and more wow! What a fantastic meal.
The restaurant is very small and cozy with a waitstaff that is very friendly and helpful. The food was some of if not the best we have had on our trip across Europe. We had the lamb and gale for mains, mussels for a starter and the prunes for desert. I'm not sure who is putting together the menu and these flavors but they need a raise. It is a bit on the pricey side but it was well worth the money.

Great tasting food in a very tightly spaced European style Bistro! We were here as business travelers, a group of 5! I had the seafood dish, perfectly prepared Cod dish and elegantly presented. Others tried their steak for two! And we had a great service along the way. I'd recommend the place but again the biggest downside to me was the sitting arrangement as you had to squeeze your way in thru the tiny front door space. Made holding conversations tuff as well.

I don't remember last time I had such an amazing restaurant experience. Etto is a place I will definitely go back to. Soon. Everything was perfect. Starter, main course and desert. Even the coffee was well above average. Can't wait to be back!

Great food Great service The smoked salmon starter was delicious as was my main of lamb rump. For me though the yeast panna cotta that came with strawberry, balsamic and basil was the star of the show!!! Small but well worth trying to get a table here

We came here in mid January for a belated office staff Xmas lunch. The place is very bijou but has always come highly recommended. The decor is elegant and minimal with some of the historical fabric retained (ceiling) and beautiful simple wooden tables. There were 2 vegetarians in our party (of which I was one!) and we were very impressed with the options for us and we ate just as well and as contentedly as the carnivores in our party! The Jerusalem artichoke starter with parsnip crisps was unusual and delicate to taste, one of the most imaginative vegetarian starters I've ever had. The roasted onion squash risotto that followed was the best risotto I've had in a restaurant - and as a veggie I've had my fair fill of them while dining out! My dessert of bitter chocolate mousse with cherries was just the right size and an appropriately divine end to the meal. I would not hesitate to recommend this place for a special occasion. The service was faultless. The place filled up rapidly within half an hour of us sitting down, a testament to its well deserved reputation!

Etto was by far our best meal in Dublin, if not our entire Dublin / London trip. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the food was simply perfect and the wine selections solid. We ate at another restaurant the next night ( a Michelin star) for our anniversary, which was a little disappointing and we both agreed- Etto was the real deal! Thanks!!

My wife and I stopped in without a reservation (oops) and we got a nice table on the condition we were finished by 20:45 as the table was reserved at that time; this gave us 90 minutes which was enough for a relaxed dinner. The menu was neither short nor long, and it had plenty of variety. We started with a creative appetizer, vitello tonnato (veal with tuna caper sauce). Entrees were grilled cod with white asparagus and spelt nettle risotta (vegetable risotto). Everything was excellent! Next time we'll make a reservation.

I really don't get the hype! And, I'm not hard to please! To ask that a glass of prosecco is COLD and BUBBLY seems hardly a tall request-- however our glasses were room temperature and flat. Yikes. A bad first impression. And our following glasses of red and white were completely unremarkable. The food was... FINE. Like elevated plane food. If this food were served to you at an airport lounge you'd be like, "Wow! Not Bad!"The lamb shoulder was the only OK thing we had-- not great-- but at least kind of satisfying. However-- dessert was DELICIOUS! Thank God. The prunes in red wine with cream was very special. But... yikes.Lovely staff, though!
