Be the first to ReplyGreat Thai food with the family
First time family visit to this restaurant, we were greeted with ample smiles as we arrived and were taken to our table to get settled, the space itself was simple , comfortable and authentic , our server Fabiano was very friendly and had a good knowledge of the menu, he was attentive throughout the course of the evening , always in hand nearby if needed. We ordered multiple dishes from the menu including starters, small & large plates consisting of a variety of meats and veggies which were all beautifully cooked and presented , and to be fair they all tasted very good , the family favourite was the beef shin curry or โ Gaeng gatti โ , the beef was soft and tender and the curry was well made, tasty with a nice little kick , all in all we had a great time with the family and would definitely go back !

Superb. Wherever youโre coming from to have dinner here, itโs worth the journey. This place is unpretentious and the staff care about everything they serve. Rarely do you hear about what goes into your dish and the preparation to produce such excellent food. This is not good food, this is exceptional food. We absolutely loved it. Best Thai inspired food in London, and would give many of the best restaurants in Thailand something to compete with. 100%. Unmissable dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyIncredibly disappointing after reading all your wonderful reviews, Over priced and Overhyped!!!!!
I canโt begin to tell you how disappointing g this restaurant was, I had read reviews, seen incredible photos of the food months ago, so booked for a birthday dinner and visited on 16th March with my partner. We opted for feasting menu and it was far from a feast, two tiny pieces of chicken ( prob best dish) some prawn crackers a prawn in bettel leave and then served the tiniest sea bass with hardly any white meat, then opted for beef shin curry, which had 2 wafer thin pieces of beef the rest potatoโs, the desert we ordered was nasty and left it after one mouthful. Bill came to ยฃ220 without a bottle of wine, we had a glass n half each. Donโt understand all the incredible reviews, we eat out regularly and have superior food in most local Thai, Vietnamese cafes. This place was a serious let down and we traveled across from west London for this experience. Overpriced, overhyped and the feasting menu is seriously NO FEAST. Have emailed restaurant who have failed to respond. Have many friends in this area and have advised them against visiting and told them of our experience. So, so disappointing after reading reviews, we left feeling hungry and angry.
Be the first to ReplyA Great Thai Food Experience
A Really Good Food Experience! A quaint and unpretentious restaurant with suitable wooden furniture featuring a large window looking out to the main road. Super friendly and helpful staff. Fresh and well presented tasty food. Spicy, fragrant, imaginative and textured (do I sound a bald chap with glasses on the BBC?). This is superb cooking with great tasty Asian flavours. Some dishes are presented on a folded leaf to be eaten whole. Great fun! The only niggle was that some dishes were over-sweetened with palm-sugar that dominated the food. Still very nice.

First time at Farang and it was a great experience. Food was amazing, probably the best Thai food Iโve ever had. Amazing mix of flavours in each dish. Staff friendly and attentive in a relaxed atmosphere

Very friendly service, delicious food with excellent quality raw materials. The best Thai of my life.

This was my second visit to Farang and I arrived hoping it was as good as I remembered, particularly as I had massively hyped it up to the friends I was with. We were seated at a lovely table by the window. Our waitress was really attentive and friendly, and dealt with our chaotic ordering style with a smile. The food is, without a question, phenomenal. I eat out a lot in London and Farang remains firmly planted as one of my favourites. We started with two portions of the crackers and two dipping sauces - sweet chilli and burnt chilli, and this was an excellent start to the meal. The crackers, made in house, are so unlike commercial prawn crackers with true flavour of prawn. The small plates (which arenโt that small!) are so tasty with both subtle and punchy flavours - the crispy chicken is outstanding (especially with the burnt chilli dip which has a really good heat to it), and the salad which comes with the (soft, tender) pork belly compliments it beautifully. For mains, our friends shared the sea bass, whilst my husband and I got the jungle and prawn curries. We all shared some sticky rice and roti. Our friends said the sea bass was absolutely beautiful, soft, cooked perfectly and so flavoursome. The prawn curry was rich and fragrant, and the generous number of huge, delicious prawns made it great value for money. The beef in the jungle curry was melt in your mouth tender, and the broth packed full of flavour. The rotis deserve their own paragraph, but I will summarise that they are buttery, flaky and delicious. My husband (the bottomless pit that still had room) got the pannacotta special and said it was faultless, and the rest of us got a pot of fresh mint tea each. For drinks, the table had four cocktails, two beers and two cokes. All of the above plus service came to ยฃ50pp which I think given the quality, atmosphere, service and sheer amount of food is extremely fairly priced. I will literally *run* back as soon as I can.

A restaurant pretty local to me that I visit fairly frequently for lunch with my wife. Good service, nice interior (although visible riffing on the Italian trattoria that it used to be, in a good way). The food is really amazing - shout out to the Miang Bites. Smoked chicken curry is also very good. Portions are large - one starter and main is normally enough to share for lunch.
Be the first to ReplyGreat flavours, many years on
I first visited Farang in, I think, 2017, when it was supposed to be only a transient pop up. Thankfully, it has become an enduring presence and retained the great, vibrant flavours I remembered from my first visit. I particularly like that all dishes are punctuated with the heat and spice seen in the authentic Thai kitchen. Clear thought obviously goes into presentation, too: the dishes are pretty with crunchy, attractive garnishes. Particular highlights for me were the betel leaf parcels, a mix of savoury, spicy, sweet and sour (though I nevertheless felt the sweet had slightly too much prominence in this fine balance), as well as the roti served with the curry main, which was so buttery, fresh and delicious. I also really enjoyed the flavours of the sauce the whole sea bass swam in; with the sticky rice it was extremely eatable. Service was pleasant throughout, but a few constructive points: 1. Maybe Iโm a pedant, but I like to be offered chopsticks in (South) East Asian restaurants 2. Be more generous with serviettes: albeit delicious, this is a fishy and sticky experience and we wouldโve liked not to have felt we were rationing paper napkins 3. By the same ilk, it wouldโve been nice to receive a citric wipe at the end of the feasting menu to refresh oneโs hands with

Wonderful feasting menu. So many fantastic flavours. Can't praise it high enough. The roti alone was worth the trip.

Every dish we ordered tonight was exciting including the crispy kale snacks but especially the Miang and battered chicken starters. The former was a tip from our lovely waiter and one of his favourite dishes. So many flavours in each bite. We had the prawn curryโs with a roti and rice to share and a side order special which was a sweet and sour salad and which one of the chefs came to explain which was fascinating, zingy and delicious. Great atmosphere and a wonderful team and when we hadnโt managed to finish everything we were offered the option to take some home. Found a new north London favourite.
Be the first to ReplyA fiery taste of Thailand
Finally managed to try Farang because there's no chance to get a table without a booking. Thai food is one of my favourite cuisines but finding a restaurant in London that sits in the sweet spot (between price and quality) is not an easy task. Farang is that place, a no-frills restaurant but uses high-quality ingredients and also offers a selection of delicious house cocktails. Service is a bit slow but the food makes it up for it, spicy, sour and bold, as traditional Thai food should taste but with a touch of finesse. And the bonus is their pantry, which offers homemade sauces, Thai ingredients and ready-cooked meals. I'm looking forward to trying their Thai tasting menu!
Be the first to ReplyDreadful service, left raging.
Arrived at 7pm. General manager gives me menus without saying a word of a welcome. At 7.30 he rudely says to us you need to be out by 9 so you need to hurry up. He also at this point accused me of coming at 6 which was untrue. He then told me I should have known the table was until 9 as it was in the booking confirmation. It was not. I know a lot of restaurants have this but the manner in which this was said was appalling. We only ordered mains and this came at 8. At five to 9 he said you have 5 minutes. Completely shocked my by this experience we were telling one of the managers our story when the general manager himself came over and said whatโs the problem, do you need more time, go and sit in the corner. He proceeded to say that we need to order straight away or the tables become out of sync. Well that should also be stated clearly and not really the customerโs problem. He proceeded to just reiterate lies that we ordered one hour in when it was half a hour which seems like a reasonable amount of time. At no point did any waiting staff help us with the menu or explain how many dishes to order so no wonder we spent some time deciding. He also reiterated that he told me I had til 9pm when he gave me the menus but he categorically did not. He ought to put sand timers on all tables. I have no idea how anybody would fit it more than one course in this restaurant without inhaling food. When we were leaving a massive group were also told to stand up with their drinks. Unfortunately service charge was included. The general manager also decided to tell me he has never has a complaint before but I can see people have. I will definitely NOT be returning!

We, a group of 6, had the tasting menu last night and it was amazing. Every dish packed full of interesting flavours. Best meal out for ages. And great, informal and friendly service. Can't wait to go back!

Farang
Great shop great staff and fantastic food highly recommend best Thai food I have had in a long time.
Be the first to ReplyGreat find!
Innovative menu and great find post-lockdown! Virtual high fives for the beef cheek curry and sticky pork belly cubes.. super delicious and great value. The pad thai was a small let down (but stodgy and not fresh enough) but overall great dinner!
Be the first to ReplyNice staff but wouldnโt return
Despite high hopes for Farang, I have to be honest and rate it based on my experience. The staff were very nice - so I am shocked to see snarky responses to bad reviews on here- but unfortunately the food isnโt. Some dishes were so spicy that they were inedible while others such as the chicken were poor quality cuts. None of the dishes were to my taste so unfortunately I wouldnโt return though I wish them all the best.
Be the first to ReplyBest Thai restaurant!!!!
Best Thai restaurant!!!! My friend went and try for the 1st time and we like everything. We had the crab and the chicken for started , as a main we had the beef cheeks with some rice and roti. Try the roti you wonโt be disappointed. The flavours are amazing and the staffs are very welcoming and helpful. The cocktails are tasty too. Totally worth the prices.
Be the first to ReplyDeliciously different Thai
We had a lovely meal at Farang a few weeks back. it is nice to see a different style of thai restaurant and did enjoy the concept. Slight niggle is that some of the dishes are very small for the price and the service was a bit on the slow side.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful food and excellent friendly service
We had lunch on January 25. The food, with the exception of the spring rolls, was absolutely excellent. Good spicing that made the dishes tasty and succulent. One of our group has a crustacean allergy and the staff could not have been more helpful in making sure she could enjoy the meal with adaptations without it spoiling the meal for the other four.
Will go back soon.
Wow
Easily the best Thai food I've had, and I eat it frequently. Such a creative menu, attentive and knowledgable staff, cozy atmosphere, and...this food...so good.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Thai Eating House
Some of the best Thai food in London.
Far better than that awful place in Leytonstone.
We had roasted kale crisps with soy & sesame.
Aromatic braised beef cheek curry with pickled ginger.
Salmon & Vermicelli noodles with garlic and chinese chives
Very enjoyable meal, great service and a packed dining room.
Highly recommended.
