Fantastic
First time out in a year and we were so fortunate to find Flat & Point. The cheeseburger sets a new standard. It's what all the other chefs are striving for. I kid you not. It was so good! The wedge fries and aoli, delicious. Schnitzel, fantastic.
Then the chef sent out some "experiments" for dessert. Chocolate chip cookies and canels. So so good.
This is a must visit place. You'll be happy you went.
Perfectly Crafted Food on Fullerton
A new Logan Square favorite! I stopped in for carry-out but the interior and exterior patio looked so cozy whenever quarantine measures lift. I got the Ribs like Wings and fries and they were seriously fantastic. The ribs were so crispy and the sauce was amazing. The sauce for the fries was garlic and scallion aioli that I seriously enjoyed. Iโve definitely been missing out and canโt wait to come back. Thanks to their employees for being friendly as I stepped in for pick up!

What a great new restaurant. Had a seven course sampler and each course was better than the next. Also boasts an interesting wine collection. My favorite had to be the smoked brisket. Large smoker in house so was made on premise. Melt in your mouth delicious. Menu items boast local, fresh ingredients. Had a fresh pasta with mushrooms and ricotta. A hint of smokiness and this pasta dish rocked it. The apple pie and French pressed coffee were the perfect finish. Good addition boasting the local ambience of Logan Square.

My wife and I walked by this new restaurant last month and noted it as "hey we need to go here!" since it smelled really good, and looking through the window we could see a big tank smoker in the open kitchen.
We had our first dinner there last weekend right when they opened at 5pm, as we had worked up a big appetite with afternoon runs and needed protein. As you may surmise by their name, they specialize in smoked brisket and we learned that they also support local farmers for their meat and produce.
We ordered a cocktail from their short list (not an extensive bar, but that's just fine) and looked over our options, eventually deciding on sharing a little gem salad (with smoked cherry tomatoes and bacon - yum!) and I ordered their Snake River Farm wagyu brisket plate and my wife went for their dry-aged sirloin burger...and a side of their french fries, which is unique and described below. We enjoyed our cocktails and the salad, a nice contrast of fresh (buttermilk ranch, Nichols Farm lettuce, radishes) and savory (smoked tomatoes and bacon) and then ordered a glass of wine & beer from their small, rotating list.
Our main course was quite tasty too. My wife's burger was substantial and very flavorful, cooked to a "medium rare plus" and in a fresh bun. My brisket was extremely flavorful and tender, and I'm not certain of the portion size but guessing around 8-10 ounces of meat plus the charred broccoli and creme fraiche on the side (also very good). This entree was $28 on their menu, and some may find that expensive for this portion of brisket, but wagyu quality beef from a local rancher doesn't come cheap, and we both really try to support our local farmers as well as restaurants.
The fries we ordered on the side were really unique, and the owner described them since he was visiting tables to see how everyone was enjoying their visits. He says (I may have forgotten a step) that they take whole Kennebec potatoes and poach them like a confit in the drippings off the brisket for several hours at low temp. The fries then come out really deep-dark-brown and savory, and very tender inside with a big flavor. Unique presentation and I recommend you trying them out.
Since it was the first hour of business on a Sunday night, the room wasn't full but the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the other diners seemed to be enjoying themselves like we were. We welcome these new businesses in our Logan Square neighborhood and I hope they just get more and more busy, since independent restaurants are important for Chicago and any city really.
