Fantastic service, loved the cocktails - just right - size
Fantastic service, loved the cocktails - just right - size - not too sweet. Appetizers were spot on, the clam pasta - homemade perfect chewiness pasta. Brocolli raab, three of us shared everything. Lighting, not too too loud, fun. Great spot
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and great service here too.
Didn't feel as touristy as the other restaurants in the area either. Very dark inside and it felt romantic. Amazing fresh pasta and the brussel sprouts were so good too!

My friend and I were looking for a place to eat in the area and came here on a whim. Very glad that we did. The restaurant was extremely packed when we came in, which made sense cause it was a Friday evening, but we were offered some nice bar seating near the window. The atmosphere was quite intimate with some nice music and dim lighting. We ordered the truffle pacchieri, margherita pizza, crispy potatoes, and date banana budino. Everything is great to share. I really recommend ordering the truffle pacchieri. Some of the best pasta I've ever had. Very rich and creamy. All the flavors came through really nicely. The pizza was light, thin, and delicious.

Still some of the best fried calamari in the city! We are never disappointed at Gelso and Grand and there is a reason why this place is always busy. The food is tasty and always comes out hot. The cocktails are great as well, especially their aperol spritz. I also held our company's holiday party here back in December for ~40 people which went off without a hitch. The downstairs space has an old school Italian ambience and is made up of a mix of booths and long tables which allowed people to move around and converse with each other throughout the night. It also has a separate bar and feels very secluded from the upstairs restaurant. The food and service were spectacular and I often still hear rave reviews from coworkers. Cece, the Event Director was great to work with and was super helpful and responsive.

Food was amazing; pizza, chicken parm, meatballs, calamari! Family enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

Took my family here that came into town to Gelso and Grand and it was one of the highlights of their trip! Our server was fantastic and so friendly, music was amazing and so was the food! I thought the cacio e Pepe was my favorite but then tried my brothers truffle pacchieri and changed my mind. So good I wanted order one to go!If you visit come in a big group just to try all of their food literally everything is fantastic the Brussel sprouts are a must try as well!

Loved the atmosphere here and loved the food even more! We had been wanting to try this spot for a while, and finally got the chance last Friday. We made a reservation for two at 5pm and were seated right away. We started with the arancini, and it was delicious. There was a lemony cream/sauce it was served with that was the perfect balance to the richness of the dish. We ordered two pastas--the pistachio pesto and the truffle pacchieri. Good portion sizes--perfect for sharing. Both were amazing, perfectly cooked, and had wonderful flavor. Glad we got two different ones to try. Will have to come back to try the others!
Be the first to ReplyLocated in Little Italy at corner of Grand and Mulberry.
This restaurant has some cool architecture. Service was friendly and efficient. Menu photos. The kale Caesar had some jalapeños which made it spicy. Good option for healthy salad. Although the inferno and shrimp fra diavolo pizza were supposed to be spicy. They were not too spicy. Probably a 3 out of 5 on the spicy scale. The shrimp pizza did have a lot of shrimp so that was a good choice. The spaghetti pomodoro and meatballs were a good meal. Meatballs definitely hit the spot. I'm sure everyone has a favorite in Little Italy. This place did not disappoint.

I visited this restaurant with a large group, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The menu had something for everyone, and the food was delicious. The service was prompt and attentive, and we never felt rushed. I highly recommend this restaurant for any group event or celebration.
Be the first to ReplyThe entrance and ambiance sold me right away.
Music was jamming and the warm dim lighting made the dinner atmosphere perfect. We were a half hour late for our reservation so I'm glad they still let us keep our table. We were a group of 5 so we ordered a variety of items to share. The calamari came in a big bowl with big rings of calamari lightly fried to a perfect soft texture. The spicy kale Cesar was popular among us because of the tangy and refreshing flavor. The Vongole with shrimp added is perfect for seafood lovers as it comes with a bunch of clams and big pieces of shrimp with light wine sauce. The rib eye cooked medium was lovely as the meat just melted in your mouth. The truffle mushroom pizza is also highly recommended. Our server and the rest of the staff were attentive and kind...up to when we paid the bill. I noticed gratuity was already included into final bill and confirmed with our server when we paid. I'm not sure if that amount wasn't enough because she shoved the check in front of me and left without saying anything. That's what brought my rating down to 4 stars. Other than that, our group enjoyed our dining experience here.

To help the restaurant owner out, I created my very own account, and here is "my experience" at "Gelso Grand". My rating is crystal clear, 1 out of 5 stars. This was my first time dinning here, the overall customer service was horrible. I was dinning with a friend. After we paid our bill, and left the restaurant, my friend realized he accidentally left his cell phone behind at the restaurant. We went back to the restaurant to look for it, and we were given such a hard time. Our waiter by the name of Daniil A. acted like he didn't know anything, and he disappeared as we spoke to the manager on duty. The manager, which was a women, was so rude instead of being helpful. The manager failed to properly look at the footage from the camera accordingly leading up to the incident. Luckily, there were two other customers dinning next to our table that gave us a heads up it was our waiter Daniil A. that was last seen. That's why we confronted Daniil A. first. The whole thing was sketchy! We looked around our table, and we noticed another employee was going back, and forth, then offered to help us. While this employee was "helping us", he suggested the phone would be at the front door of the facility on the floor........we walked back towards the front, and the phone mysteriously was there.....the phone was planted there by the restaurant employees! It wasn't there when we returned to the restaurant to look for it! The last thing we remember was the cell phone on the table, and the waiter Daniil A. placed our napkins a certain way, and picked up our plates. Anyone can lose their items, we didn't have to have such a difficult experience to retrieve a lost item. Please be very careful with your personal items, and the staff. The restaurant owners response to my issue, was unprofessional, I was called a liar, and he even wanted me to remove my review. Your staff, and managers are a reflection of you.

I like the atmosphere and the high ceiling of the restaurant. Ordered a fried calamari and 2 main dishes. The appetizer was so tasteful, the seafood itself was fresh and juicy. However, the pasta we ordered has too much oil and chores.
Be the first to ReplyStill to this day one of my favorite meals I've ever had.
Me and my husband are here on our first trip to NYC in 2021 and I still dream about the pasta here and recommend it to literally everyone I know. We came here kind of on a whim but we are so glad we did. The calamari is the best I've ever had. Super crispy and not rubbery and overcooked at all. I had the pistachio pesto pasta which was also amazing. My husband ate a specialty lamb pasta they had at the time which also was delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough.

The last thing we remember was the cell phone on the table, and the waiter Daniil A. placed our napkins a certain way, and picked up our plates. My friends cell phone was swiped by this employee. Please be very careful with your personal items. Their own employees steal from their own consumers! This is extremely disappointing, and I would never step foot in this restaurant again.-As to the owner, my name is Miguel Santiago, I was in the restaurant, and I paid with my card! I have my receipt. That's how I have the name of the waiter that served me that night. I was dinning with a friend that was in town visiting. The footage was established at the restaurant, we were given the run around over the footage, and mistreated by management, and the conclusion made absolutely no sense. The waiter that suggested the phone was on the floor outside....if he saw it there initially why didn't he just grab it, and bring to us? Or even bother turning it into managements hands that night? You might want to check your video surveillance outside of your restaurant. The cell phone wasn't on the floor outside, when we walked back in to inquire. I don't take being lied to likely, especially when I'm paying for a dinning experience. Tammy is my partner, this is our account to leave any reviews, as we please. I will not remove my review. Don't worry, we won't be returning, or recommending your location. Best of luck to you.P.s. everyone is at liberty to express their experience, this is a platform for that. Your main issue is your staff. I took my time, and read all of your low ratings, your staff is the problem, and unfortunately, I endured it while I was there. Anyone can loose their belongings, it was the approach, it was unprofessional, and odd. My review will stand, and remain.
Be the first to ReplyThe pizza is just ok.
Really not remarkable. The waits are quite long. I honestly forgot what I ordered by the time the food came out. I'd only recommend stopping by if you're in the area and looking for a cute spot to get out of the rain. Not a destination restaurant by any means.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has 5-star potential based on the atmosphere and
This place has 5-star potential based on the atmosphere and food quality, but I had to ding it one star because I felt that we were being rushed to eat especially for a larger party of 6. The Good:Food is amazing, out of all the different items we ordered (approx. 10), almost all of them were worth trying and no regrets. I have very high standards for Italian Restaurants in NYC because that cuisine is very saturated in the city, but this place isn't one that would be easily forgotten. The wood fire pizza was awesome! Would come here again. My favorite item was the Large Cannoli dessert. 6 of us were able to share it, but I can easily split this with one person. The interior decor was gorgeous as well. May come back here for a date night. The Room for Improvement:I understand on a Friday night that they're trying to move tables quick, but it was definitely not cool to take our plates away when we were clearly trying to finish and some people were slower to eat than others. It felt very awkward that some people would have no plates in front of them while others were still working on their food. The staff overall was nice, but other people in my party were very annoyed with the feeling of being rushed out. We weren't lingering either, we just ordered a lot of food so needed a bit of time to finish.

I came for here for lunch to celebrate my birthday and I was sooooo beyond satisfied with literally everything. We arrived 10 minutes late to our reservation and the hostess was so sweet and welcoming and seated us immediately, and in a booth as originally requested! Our waitress was so awesome and prompt, and our server was funny and timely as well. Excellent service from the entire staff (I wish I knew names). For starters we ordered the calamari, spicy kale Caesar, quatro formaggi pizza, and the truffle honey bruschetta. All were absolutely delicious, but that pizza was my favorite. I also really enjoyed the kale Caesar as the dressing was fresh and super flavorful. For my entree I ordered the pistachio pesto, trying new things (I'm a carbonara stan), and it did not disappoint! The sauce was so creamy and thick and not overly nutty, it was perfectly balanced. The crushed pistachios added a great texture as well. My friends ordered the bolognese and cacio e pepe. One reported the bolognese was underwhelming, but she's pregnant so you know... can't really trust the taste buds at the moment lol. The cacio e Pepe was veryyy cheesy, and the cheese was pretty strong but in a good way. All in all, I would come back, because I need to get through this menu! A must try if you are looking for casual Italian!

First time in Little Italy and had to go to Gelso and Grand! Highly recommend the Bolognese it was the perfect dish to share for two.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my first time eating out in Little Italy and I'm so
This is my first time eating out in Little Italy and I'm so glad that I get to start my experience at Gelso & Grand! I was craving a burrata salad and immediately ordered this when I saw it on the menu. The burrata salad here is the best I've had! I love the almond crisps and green raisins that were added to the salad. I feel that they really add to the taste and made the dish unique from other burrata salads where it's mostly just tomatoes and burrata. The service is also great as our waitress is attentive and we all got our food in a timely manner. Can't wait to return next time to try the other dishes on the menu!

Came here with my friends out of town and I am so glad I did! The service and food was to die for. The bathrooms were so cute with a photo booth and the ambience inside was worth the large crowd! Definitely coming back

Stumbled across this place while window shopping, and it was such a great experience! It was warm evening so we dined outdoors (the lights were a vibe!), and we had no wait on a Sunday evening despite not having a reservation.Tried the Cacio e Pepe, Spaghetti Pomodoro with Meatballs, and the Margherita Pizza. My favorite of the night was the Margherita Pizza - super flavorful and had fresh basil and mozzarella!! The spaghetti was plated beautifully and the sauce was so tasty, but the meatballs(+$7) were just ok and a little pricy. I'd probably get this dish again, but without the meatballs. Also not a huge fan of Cacio e Pepe, but my friend ordered it and it was so good!! For about $30/person, this place was tasty and affordable. Was pleasantly surprised at how fun and ambient it was, especially since we randomly stopped in. I'll definitely be back to try their other amazing dishes!

Food... really, really good. Ambience... a little loud, with contemporary dance sounds. Wine... also really, really good. Aesthetics... dark, warm & inviting. Waitstaff... Robert was fantastic!!! This EQS the last place in Little Italy we dined, and it far surpassed the others in Little Italy. Highly recommend this delightful eatery.
Be the first to ReplyYou come to NYC to discover, learn and experience the best
You come to NYC to discover, learn and experience the best in life has to offer. Gelso & Grand taught me what truly great pasta can do to a man's life. Their pistachio pesto pasta starts with home made noodles and ends with fresh made pesto that comes with a hint of spice. The pizzas have the perfect balance between crust, sauce and cheese. I look forward to coming here again.

Solid Italian spot in a great location! This place is perfect for groups or for a girls night -- there are a lot of bars nearby to hop into after dinner. The menu is diverse with lots of great appetizers, pasta, pizza and other entrees. Really extensive wine list as well. The service is friendly, vibes are super fun but not too loud, and overall great atmosphere. I recommend eating family style here. For apps we got the calamari (which is really good and almost a little peppery), pear salad and truffle arancini. All of these were sooooo good and really easy to share. The taste and quality of everything was on point. For mains we ordered the pesto pasta, bolognese, and mushroom pizza. The pizza was great and the pastas were good but nothing special. I would recommend ordering more appetizers and less entrees; the apps were the star of the show. I definitely look forward to coming back -- I'll be dreaming of those truffle arancini until next time!
Be the first to ReplyNot bad at all.
We ordered the cacio e pepe and the pasta was legit al dente and the pecorino was the real deal (just note that they use a bit thinner spaghetti than traditional style if that's something you would care about). Otherwise, it came out quick and was pretty solid all things considered.
