100% love the food here.
My wife and I were driving back home and got hungry. Found Goose & Gander on Yelp and decided to stop by. They were super busy, but still able to accommodate us without any reservations. The atmosphere was great and the bar downstairs was fun as well. Definitely going to have to come back here!

I have always tried to discipline myself to take a seat in the dining room. My adventurous side always wins and I wind up on the underground speakeasy. The knowledgeable bartenders and pub like atmosphere are so beautiful and relaxing. The Halibut with Parsnip Puree were cooked to perfection.

Food was spectacular! It's a bit pricey here but definitely worth it. The service was good, not great. I loved the Mac and cheese. The restaurant is on the smaller side but it's comfy. Great for a date night!
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambiance.
Amazing wine list. Beautiful drinks. It's not pretentious. Some dishes hit better than others but we all left happy and content. Check out that bar downstairs. It's gorgeous

Came here for dinner on our last night in Napa and I was so glad we came. The service was top notch and the patio seating was very calming and beautiful. Our cocktails were great and my husband got the wings appetizer which were yummy. I had the pasta dish with shrimp and I cleaned the plate clean. My husband loved his burger and we ended our meal with the carrot cake, which was perfect! I can't wait to come back!
Be the first to ReplyWe decided to dine here for dinner during our trip to St.
Helena last Sunday, mainly because of the reviews. Parking wasn't hard to find. We parked right next to a church on the street. We made a reservation ahead of time, so by the time we entered the restaurant, we were immediately seated. The ambiance was dimly lit (I guess they're aiming for a relaxing vibe for their customers, but it made me rather sleepy, lol). For appetizers, we ordered the Sticky Pig Ears ($10), Wood-Grilled Octopus ($22), and Duck Fat Fries ($10). Despite the portion sizes being on the smaller side and the prices being relatively high, they tasted good. However, the duck fat fries tasted like regular fries. For our main course, my partner and I both ordered The G&G Burger ($24), while our friends ordered the Tomato Ragu Pappardelle ($28) and the Katsu Pork ($36). The burgers were disappointing; they were overloaded with toppings, making them difficult to eat. Additionally, they used a chewy bread instead of a good quality burger patty, which made it challenging to chew and cut. The bread itself did not taste good either. There was also inconsistency with our orders; despite both of us ordering the same burger, they forgot to include bacon in my boyfriend's burger. Only mine came with it. Furthermore, the meat inside the burger was dry. As for the Tomato Ragu, the pasta was acceptable, but the chicken breast served with it was overcooked and very dry. The worst dish of all was the Katsu. I'm not sure why, but the cook pressed the Katsu too hard, making it thin and overcooked. It was burnt and inedible; it didn't taste like Katsu at all. I wish we'd taken more pictures, but after all the wine tasting, we were too exhausted. Sadly, the food didn't live up to its appearance, so don't be fooled, guys. Overall, we don't understand the hype surrounding this place and will not be coming back here again.

We have only been here a few times, but the food is amazing! The service is great and the ambiance rocks. The fried olives and pistachios are sooo good! The chicken -out of this world. We are returning from out of state in May and will be dining here again! (What we dislike and question on other reviews: if you had a good experience and loved the food and service, why are you not giving it 5/5 star reviews instead of 4????).

On a rainy Saturday night, my hubby and I braved highway 29 to try Goose and Gander. With no reservations for dinner, I figured maybe the bar would be open. To my surprise, this place is popping at 545pm. Luckily, there was a party just about ready to leave. I am not a big fan of dinner at the bar, but this is the only option we have and with Themis place so popular... what the heck. So here goes. Our waiter is Nicholas, he took awhile to get drinks but we were not in a hurry. He was pleasant and made a few recommendations. Most of what we ordered were delicious, my husband had a burger which was not on their menu and he absolutely loves it. I had the pork katsu which was good but I won't order it next time. There are other dishes to try. Rain or shine, this restaurant in St Helena is doing great business. Will be back in the future.

We were excited to plan another meal at this wonderful place! We love the vibe and our server was really great! We decided to try the sticky pig ears appetizer, which was described as "kind of like candied bacon". I get the appeal, but it really didn't work for us. We were surprised and grateful to find that they took it off of our bill! My wife had the wood grilled chicken breast with blistered greens & black truffle chicken jus, a very good entree! My short rib pasta was disappointing - for $32 we expected a chunk of short rib but there were only a few small pieces in the sauce, good flavor but lacking substance. I'd recommend they rethink this dish. For dessert we split a Meyer lemon tart which we both loved. On our bill we discovered an unannounced 4% "employee benefit" fee. This deceptive practice cost them a star, and it must stop! Blindsiding your customers with a hidden fee is not ok. We we'll not return until they put a stop to it.

Goose and Gander is a gorgeous restaurant with a warm and cozy atmosphere. The ambiance and service is some of the best in Napa Valley. The wine list is extensive- you can get cult wines that are not available anywhere- the menu is less extensive. The food is good, for an appetizer we ordered the sticky pig ears. They are definitely an acquired taste and extremely heavy. I ordered the chicken, mashed potatoes and blistered greens which was a delicious entree. My husband ordered the short rib pasta ( I was expecting a piece of short rib over the pasta) but it had little pieces of short ribs blended in with the pasta. I was a little disappointed for the price. Although the flavor was nice. For dessert we got the lemon tart. The Meyer lemon dessert was both sweet and tart and had great flavors but a graham cracker crust would have enhanced the dessert. When we received the bill there was an added 4% employee benefit tax. All in all it was a great meal with fantastic service and the best ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyDon't waste your money on this extremely overpriced sub-par
Don't waste your money on this extremely overpriced sub-par restaurant. Unfortunately, the Goose and Gander missed the mark on EVERY level ! Starting with our drinks, my girlfriend ordered a Cucumber Collins which is supposedly one of their "featured cocktails" . It was nothing more than a mish mash of pickled and plain cucumbers with vodka, berries and lemon. Very disappointing flavor at an outrageous price of $16. I was in the mood for a beer and ordered one from the semi-local Mendocino county brewery, which to my great dismay, arrived at the table in a 12oz. can ! Really? Can we not at least get a fresh draft beer at a "fancy" restaurant like this? The Caesar salad arrived, and its very bland dressing was screaming for garlic and lemon juice. And sadly, just one lonely Boquerone was tossed in. My date ordered the Akaushi New York strip steak which was presented to her on a bare plate with only some chimichurri sauce around the meat. No garnish, no vegetables or rice, nothing !! For the bloated price of $58, couldn't they at least kick in some parsley or simple side dish like potatoes, etc. ? Additionally the steak had numerous pockets of tough grizzle meat which had to be worked around and separated out with the knife. Akaushi, really ? I ordered the Seared Scallop Risotto, which was very bland and the risotto was undercooked as evidenced by the hard, crunchy bits of rice in it. The 3 Scallops themselves were luke-warm and undercooked with very little flavor. Only one side of each scallop was browned, and there were no signs of any seasoning or even salt. Truly a disappointing dinner all in all! Then to add insult to injury, a trip to the restroom was absolutely disgusting ! The floor was a mess and the overwhelming stench of sewer gas was horrendous. I made mention of this situation to the manager and he made no apologies to me nor did he express any appreciation for the fact that I brought this to his attention. I also did not appreciate the "4% employee benefits charge added to all bills". For the highly inflated prices that they are already charging, it's highway robbery to add another 4% on top, in this post Covid era. Enough is enough, already ! Needless to say, we will never return to the Goose and Gander after such a truly disappointing dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere! Such a cool restaurant and bar
Great atmosphere! Such a cool restaurant and bar downstairs!!! All of the staff was super engaging and attentive. Jason provided amazing service and as a mixologist, gave some damn good recommendations for cocktails. We have come here few drinks a couple of times but this is the first time for food. Blown away!!! We chose it for restaurant week and the short rib did not disappoint! Have to come back to try other items. Oh, btw, you HAVE to try the sticky pigs ears. So good!!!!
Be the first to ReplyReally nice place for dinner.
The menu was good. The cocktails were impressive. I had the fish which was really nicely cooked. The chef skill shined through.

Excellent food excellent service our first time but sure won't be the last. Oh yeah drinks are on point as well
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, great service, amazing hospitality.
We went here to celebrate my husbands birthday. They had arranged for a cake as per my request, which was served in dessert. We had the tomahawk steak, which was made to perfection. It's very difficult to find a good tomahawk steak, but G&G nailed it. The roasted bone marrow was also very tasty and went well with steak. I would go back here soon to try more dishes from their menu.

Visited this place on recommendation by a local at a winery we were visiting. So we decided to try it. Great little quaint place that looks like an old home that was transformed into a restaurant. Really cool vibes and the bar was great. The service is amazing and top notch and a good amount of wait staff to help you. The food was delicious. Great presentation and overall good flavor, texture and taste. Reason for my 4 stars is I felt like the steak lacked just a little something, maybe I'm a steak snob but some seasoning. The Mac and cheese was delicious and the duck fat fries just tasted like fries. The sweet potato rolls were awesome and super tasty and a must have when visiting. The Caesar salad was good and had a strong anchovy taste to it and a little strong our taste buds. Overall a great experience and awesome restaurant to visit and eat at. Will surely stop by again.

I will be back! Best cheeseburger ever! Tried the pig ears not the biggest fan make sure to visit the bar downstairs!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful setting , exceptional service and exquisite
Beautiful setting , exceptional service and exquisite cuisine can I say Goose and Gander exemplifies fine dining. We had steak and duck fat fries, the brown buttered gnocchi and wood grilled chicken breast with black truffles jus. All beautifully plated and delicious. The dishes were paired with premium Napa Valley wines including Schramberg Sparkling wine and Cabernet Sauvignon from Trumbull. The building has a European feel centered in the heart of St Helena.

Napa Restaurant Week 2023 ends on a high note! Goose & Gander is a beautiful, intimate place that exudes warmth, with an open kitchen and another intimate space downstairs that houses a few more tables and a nice bar. Overall it has a very European feel. From start to finish the service was attentive and friendly and didn't miss a beat. We enjoyed a rich mushroom soup and a kale salad to start, both really great. Entrees at the table included a 6oz New York Strip with duck fat fries, Browned Butter Roasted Gnocchi, and Wood Grilled Chicken Breast with Black Truffle Chicken Jus. (No picture of the chicken ) Each entree was full of rich flavors that perfectly accented the food, served with a wonderful side. Two of our group of three also enjoyed a wine pairing with each course, which included wines from Schramsberg and Turnbull - wow!Overall a completely fantastic meal, in a completely fantastic place!

Been a while since our last visit to Goose & Gander, we had another great meal here! Replaced the Martini House back in 2011. Goose & Gander is still rocking strong with its garden-inspired cocktails and its ridiculously rich burger topped with bone marrow (and sometimes foie gras). Must order the Martini House mushroom soup: it is flavorful and decadent. The special of the night is a cioppino with sea scallops, shrimps and fish. The quality of the seafood screams freshness that is so unbelievable! The barbecue pork chop is a good sized rib chop cooked perfect to a medium rare per my request. Amazing!

Starting 5 star review with the cons seems like a legit way to kick this off:1) pricey 2) don't change menu enough. 3) one of those places that says they're full but when you peak inside there's not enough people to fill a canoe. That said, if you want a place with good food and drinks that is guaranteed to be great this is your go-to if you're down town. Also very cool downstairs basement bar.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding food and service! I will definitely be back
Outstanding food and service! I will definitely be back many, many times. Order anything on the menu because it's all good! And, the ambience is really charming.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent, but overpriced.
Beautiful setting. We brought our own wine and it was still around $350 for our meal. The service was a bit disjointed. I think they were probably shorthanded that night, probably due to Covid.
