Just cool it
A swimming hole in the heart of Sedona's Red Rock wonderland. We did this on a hot summers day in July after hiking Devil's Bridge. What a treat it was. The clean and cool water was so refreshing & there was ample room to swim. There are spots you can jump into the water as well if you like. $8 parking fee. Short walk from there.

Really pretty and scenic. Loved the small hiking trails, cool refreshing water and friendly people. Would highly recommend a visit.

We went during peak Easter time and did have to wait about 15 minutes to enter the park, but it was worth it. It is then just a short walk over some rocks to get to the swimming hole. The swimming hole "beach area" is very rocky. The water is cold but refreshing. The middle school kids had a great time climbing up the wall and then jumping in off the rock cliffs. Not a great area for little kids due to the rocky terrain and they would also be too young for the jumping.

We were invited to a friends sons birthday party at this location. This is our first time and it was better than we expected. We saw many pictures and videos and thought wow ‘it’s packed it don’t look fun if we don’t have space for us.’ The tip is to go early because the parking is very limited. Once it’s full no cars can enter but visitors still can, just pay at the window-cash only! We were one of the few who weren’t able to park so we had to find parking at the small lot by Midgley Bridge and our friends picked us up.
The walk to the hole is not very far. It’s all terrain so plan accordingly if you want to bring your wheeled cooler. Our friends did so did a lot of people there. Just need help carrying it. The water was so clear and super cold but nice because it was a very hot day.
Another tip, wear water shoes! Your feet will hurt! I wore my hiking boots got it wet but later when I got out, it was gushy not a good feeling.
You can eat and drink just make sure you pick up after yourselves. Bathrooms are at the top in the parking lot but it’s like a porta John just closed out like a normal bathroom. There’s no soap so bring sanitizer and/wipes. I always have them on hand!
Lastly, have fun! We did. Can’t wait to go back!
Great place to cool off!
Not recommended for anyone approaching "senior" age as the hike to the creek was rough to say the least. There is parking for about 20 cars and then they shut down the entrance until someone leaves. It's $9 a car and the hike is all downhill. The first 50% of the trail was well marked until you get to the bottom of the hill, then you have to traverse over massive river rocks and sand. If you are barefooted, not good. Flipflops are not a good choice either. Once you get to the creek, you have to stand on rocks, no beach or area to place your belongings.
The water is very cool (excellent for a 108 degree day in mid-August), and super clear. Most of the people jumping off the cliffs were teenagers and 20 somethings, I think the oldest person I saw was a woman, maybe in her 30's with her small children.
You have to swim over and climb up. the rock face, some places were easier than others, and you can climb to different heights to make the jump more daring. Some of the cliffs were 80 - 100 feet up and the I could not see the bottom of the creek where you jump.
Go early! Pack water shoes!
Poorly managed park
I was looking for a place to go fishing in the creek and read about Grasshopper Point. I paid the entrance fee, parked, and found a trail leading off of the parking lot marked "Creek Access". No maps are available at the pay booth. After about 50 yards, the trail ended at a dry creek bed filled with rocks and boulders. I followed the creek bed (with some difficulty, as it is entirely filled with rocks) for about one third of a mile. In all that distance, I never saw another maintained trail, nor any more signage offering directions. After following several other wildcat trails, I finally did find the river. On my way back, I ran into two families with children looking for the water. They thought, as I did, they would find a marked trail leading to the swimming area. My advice - if you are young (I am not) and can bushwack through brush and over rocks, AND if you come prepared with proper footwear, you could have a good time there assuming you don't get lost on the way.
Be the first to ReplyGrasshopper Point - Picknicing, Swimming & Hiking
We drove up to Grasshopper Point for a little picnic but found that it’s also a hot spot for creek swimming access and hiking trails. But that all added to the experience and we enjoyed the views and our picnic. Fun!

My family and I were there for a visit last month! Awesome place with lots of folks jumping from different levels. All 3 of my daughters and I jumped many times. My wife also jumped....however her experience was NOT GOOD. She jumped where everyone else was jumping from but must have gone a bit deep and lacerated her shin on a rock beneath the water (probably about 6-7' down). She had to get stitches but also sustained an infection that landed her in the hospital for 4 days. With all that said, please be careful when jumping into the water at this site. It is very fun but risky. I have not seen many reviews that discuss injuries. It happened. Good luck and be safe.

Oak Creek was a raging river due to recent rains so there was no access to swimming hole and cliff jumping. Other times it is a please short walk downhill to the area.

A bit hard to get too. Lots of rocks to traverse on the way. Enjoyed the swimming and jumping from the cliffs.
