Gstaad Palace Saanen Reviews from The Last Year
A palace with very good service
We stayed a week at Gstaad palace and overall we had a pleasant stay. What we liked: - very good service whether we were at the different restaurants, lobby bar, ski room or Spa. - Large Spa with sauna, outdoor jacuzzi, relaxation room, we enjoyed a lot after a day of ski - Ski room: great staff helping us to fit our ski equipment - restaurants: quality food at Grand Restaurant or La Fromagerie with great staff as well as at the breakfast with wide choice of food - amazing ambiance in the lobby bar with music bands playing every night What we did not like: We put a 4/5 as at check in we were confirmed a late check out (thanks to LHW membership), day before our check out, reception told us it was not anymore possible. For this level of hotel, Deluxe Palace, it is not acceptable, when you commit, you have to find a solution as we had to change our travel arrangement.
Charming Place to celebrate Christmas
One of the best winter / Christmas celebration we have had! Charming hotel, friendly staff and excellent f&b, especially on Christmas Eve. If we have any regret, it would be the dress code at the restaurant was not observed by some guests. It was a little unpleasant to see guests going in the restaurant with the same T-shirt and shorts in slippers in the morning. I lost my appetite two days in a row.
Gstaad Dream
I would like to extend my gratitude to all Gstaad Palace team and management. This place is run on a different level. Very accommodating and everyone is polite, kind, and charismatic. I’ve had one of my most memorable trips, the ski shop is great, food is superb, ski instructor is professional, services, amenities, spa, vibe, and scenery are amazing. Don’t miss out dinners here as well.
Fairytale castle with history, style and top service
Hardly any visitor to Gstaad can probably escape the fascination that emanates from the symbol of Gstaad: the Hotel Palace - standing in a solitary splendour high above the village. Many will have secretly wished to live “up there” one day. For 25 years we have the privilege of being the happy owners of an apartment in the Résidence, an annex to the Hotel Palace. After spending many vacation days in this dream area, it’s high time to record our impressions in a written review. The “Palace” towers over Gstaad like a fortress from bygone times. As soon as you enter this place of harmony and peace you leave your daily worries behind and enjoy the perfect location with a fantastic view of the mountains as well as the unique interior and exterior architecture of the building. Everything in this house is perfectly designed with great care, the excellent standard continues in all areas - you feel like you have been transported to another world that ensures relaxation, enjoyment and friendliness. A sensational experience in the Swiss Alps in a great ambience with lots of charm and hospitality at the highest level! We love old hotels, their warmth, their history and their employees, who pamper their guests with dedication, attention and great expertise. Where else can you find that? The old Swiss hotel industry with its beautiful, palatial buildings and attentive service has unfortunately become a dying breed. Short-lived design and a sheer profit motive are increasingly replacing them and often leave dissatisfied guests behind. You can't relax and unwind in these houses anymore! Although the dilemma is well known, many hotel managers still chase after the supposed bargain and ignore true quality. Andrea Scherz, the owner of this gem in the 3rd generation, has managed to achieve the certainly not easy balancing act between awareness of tradition and future-oriented investment. It's really demanding to preserve what is proven and to enter new and unconventional territory courageously. Andrea Scherz has mastered this challenge in an exemplary manner. Culinary Director Franz Faeh, who leads the 50-person kitchen brigade with care and calm, deserves a special mention. He ensures that every guest finds what he likes on his plate at any time and wherever; even unusual special requests are fulfilled. His cuisine, which can be described as classic, is predominantly French-inspired, with a digestible, light "Asian touch" - the result of his many years of stay in various Asian countries. When in summer you sit down for dinner on the Palace's showpiece, the fantastic sun terrace, your gaze almost automatically wanders from the menu to the magical mountain backdrop - a feast for both the palate and the eyes. Our conclusion is addressed to all readers of our review: If you would like to experience the upscale hotel industry in an alpine area, stay at the Hotel Palace in Gstaad and you will be looked after with great attention, enjoying the fact that you don't have to worry! If you research the tranquillity, gourmet experiences or active vacations - you will find here everything you desire.
The Gstaad Palace - Always great, now truly extraordinary
My family has been coming to the Palace for over forty years. In that time we have always loved the Palace's unique combination of luxury, family warmth and majestic views/ setting. Well, turns out even a great experience can still be enhanced. Reflecting on our latest stay here in January, in my humble opinion this is the best the hotel's ever been. It is a true gem! The rooms (especially the baths) have been significantly upscaled over the last few years and are spacious and stylish. Housekeeping was particularly sharp and diligent, with any request handled literally within minutes. The food, already a highlight, has also seen some remarkable improvements of late. Having opened up the culinary range to go beyond the (still great) Swiss and Italian classics to also offer a wide range of Indian and pan-Asian dishes means there's something new to discover literally every day. And as great as the restaurants and their dedicated staffs are, it's actually also very comfortable to simply stay in, as room service at the Palace has been improved to a remarkable degree in recent years, with a substantial cross-section menu and a wonderful, personable staff. And speaking of staff, I cannot emphasize enough how friendly, welcoming and diligent literally everyone we've come in contact with at the Palace has been. Thank you for a truly wonderful holiday experience!
The fortunate unfortune
My recent visit to the Gstaad Palace was full of anticipation, looking forward to enjoying lunch while admiring the views. However, an unexpected incident overshadowed this pleasant moment. As I left the restaurant, I was confronted by a policeman, who claimed that the hotel had accused me of theft, based simply on my youthful appearance and single status. Shortly after the incident, I received a phone call and email from management expressing their sincere apologies. Their proactive approach in contacting me personally, acknowledging the mistake and expressing sincere remorse was both unexpected and much appreciated. Despite their apology, the experience was truly unpleasant. I appreciate their acknowledgement and their efforts to rectify the situation, but it's important to stress that it was a difficult situation to live through. I sincerely hope that such situations will be rare in the future, and that steps will be taken to avoid similar misunderstandings. However, knowing that the Gstaad Palace is committed to resolving problems with humility offers reassurance for future visits. In summary, my experience at Gstaad Palace was not defined solely by the incident, but rather by the care and dedication shown by management in its aftermath.
Amazing stay at the Palace
Our family's stay at Gstaad Palace was exceptional, and we were especially impressed by the renovations of the terrace and jacuzzi. The terrace offered breathtaking views, blending luxury with the beauty of the Swiss Alps, making our mornings and evenings unforgettable. The jacuzzi, a masterpiece of comfort and design, provided a perfect relaxation spot, elevating our experience with its warmth and serenity. The service at Gstaad Palace was impeccable, with staff ensuring our comfort at every turn, creating a welcoming atmosphere for families. Dining was a delight, offering a variety of exquisite dishes that catered to all tastes. In summary, Gstaad Palace provided a luxurious escape that exceeded our expectations, from its stunning renovations to its exceptional service and culinary excellence. It stands out as a jewel in the Swiss Alps, promising a memorable stay for families seeking luxury and tranquillity
Fairytale in the Swiss mountains
The Gstaad Palace gave us a fairytale like experience in the snowy Swiss mountains. Besides the amazing room, the staff was at its upmost to give us a special stay. And the food in the restaurant was the cherry on the cake. Besides advising on all the highlights in town the spa they have gives a perfect hide out to recharge!
The Lobby Bar… unable to make a cocktail!
We wanted to spend some family time at the Lobby Bar. But as soon as we arrived, we could see the lack of professionalism. No welcome, no one takes care of finding you a table! After desperately looking for a free place, table not cleared! We order the cocktails, and disappointment! Dirty Martini is not one, just an olive to decorate, undrinkable Whiskey Sour, a liquid with a huge quantity of lemon juice! If you want to have a cocktail, move on and go elsewhere!
A first class stay in a first class Swiss palace
A first class stay in a first class palace. The Perfection with a capital P. Service, ambiance, gouvernant, location, quality of meals, welcome at checkin, housekeeping, concierge, housekeeping, I cannot think of an area which was not AAA

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
