Beware! CC numbers stolen from the bar staff.
Met friends at the bar for a couple of drinks in the afternoon. Had to leave my credit card at the bar and started a tab. Everything seemed normal until the next day. That is when VISA fraud department called and asked if I spent more that $1000 at Best Buy on-line. I know the bartender stole my CC numbers because this restaurant is the only place I used that CC. It is a shame that the restaurant employes people that commit blatant fraud.

Our first night in Auckland and we were looking forward to a lovely dinner on the waterfront. The setting outside on the balcony was very nice. But the food was a huge disappointment. Our lettuce salad (large enough to share) came with a very bland vinaigrette no tastier than water. Even the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc was lackluster. My husband's lamb chops were OK, but my fish pie was absolutely awful. It was nothing more than two cups of mashed potatoes and cheese, with maybe 12 peas and 4 bite size pieces of snapper. I spooned the potato glop onto the side of the plate, ate the snapper and peas and went home hungry. By far our worst meal traveling for 21 days in Australia and NZ.

This is a white tablecloth and cotton napkin restaurant which was exactly what we wanted. The meet and greet was excellent and we started with a couple of cocktails, I can particularly recommend the Mexican Mistress if you like it hot๐. We didnโt have a reservation on a busy Saturday night but we were seated within 20 minutes. This gave the opportunity to have more than one Mexican Mistress๐คฃ๐คฃ. The Oysters were excellent and the pan fried Snapper was to die for! We loved being able to see the kitchen and the โpassโ from where we were seated. It was like watching a well oiled machine. Well done to the chef and his team. Great last dinner in New Zealand๐

We chose this restaurant because the reviews on TripAdvisor were very good. It is located at the port. The restaurant is quite chic. The food and service were very good.

This is rated one of the better restaurants in the area, we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. The food was very good but the service was horrible. Severely understaffed. When we were asked about our experience by the manager, we let him know. His excuse? They let too many people in for the staff they had on that night. Really?
Be the first to ReplyChowder was awesome
Great view over the harbour, our French born waiter was excellent and went over and above with filleting our fish making sure we got the cheek meat for example. At seafood restaurants my go to starter is the chowder , this is possibly the best chowder I have eaten. Full of seafood and potato and totally delicious . Excellent dinner rounded out by a lovely Marlborough Sav Blanc
Be the first to ReplyGreat for oysters
Excellent oysters and seafood stew, great service by Merryn, great te mata wine from hawked bay. Probably our best restaurant experience in Auckland
Be the first to ReplyGreat harbour views from balcony
Great to sit and watch the activity in the harbour sipping a top notch Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc on a summerโs day from the first floor balcony. There is a huge wine selection, and great beers. A bar area (not table service) is available overlooking the harbour. Bar staff were friendly and helpful. Top notch place. Enter from the road up the stairs rather than harbour side.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing
We went to Harbourside to celebrate my husband's birthday. The service was extremely slow and when our food did arrive some of it was burnt. It was a real let down, we had been looking forward to it and left feeling very disappointed. It wasn't just us, we heard several others from nearby tables complaining about the service.
Be the first to ReplyGood seafood and nice location.
The restaurant has a very nice outdoor eating area the over looks the harbor. They also have a bar area with lots of tables inside for dining. I got the fish and chips. It came with two large pieces of fish in a light batter. They had tartar sauce and vinegar if you needed anything else for the fish. The fries had a parmigiana topping that was a nice touch. My wife had the seafood chowder, which had fish, scallops, shrimp and potatoes. We shared an order of the shrimp Mac&cheese. It was excellent. The service was very good.
Be the first to ReplyIconic Auckland landmark - Outstanding!
Havnt been to Harbourside for many years but when friends visited from Oz and finding many other restaurants closed on Mondays/Tuesdays or not for lunch booked here. So glad we did. It was stunning! Gorgeous position outside on the deck overlooking the harbour on a perfect day and it was buzzing! We all had scallops to start - tasty but small. My friends had fish pie and John dory and I did the salmon for mains. Beautifully presented and tasty. We did have desserts and they were outstanding. Bitter chocolate for me and creme Brule for my friends. All rounded off with lovely wines. Love the white tablecloths and silver napkin holders. Staff were charming and attentive. Will definitely be back as it was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyVery good seafood
The seafood was very good. I liked very much the grilled snapper, the squid and the scallops. A very good chocolate dessert. The fresh oysters were top quality. Good service, but a bit noisy from the bar area.

First rate dinner at Harbourside.Make certain you get an outside table.Loved the squid steak as a starter and the fish and chips for main.Good wine list.
Be the first to ReplyWhite and Wong's duck is much better
Special celebration calls for a classy restaurant. That's about it... Started my evening with I thought would be an amazing seafood chowder. Utterly disappointed. Not much in it and it was way under seasoned. Nothing a handful of salt couldn't fix. Followed by the Duo of Duck. Leg was OK but the duck breast was rubbery like the sole of my shoes and tasteless. The helpful waitress took it back to the chef, and I was informed that that's how it is suppose to be. Really? Very disappointing! Didn't bother with dessert. My wife supprised me with a tray of Peking Duck from White and Wong and what a difference!!!
Be the first to ReplyVery nice dinner!
The oysters were excellent, the Wagyu carpaccio was excellent, and the Gold Rush poached salmon was, also, excellent. We had glasses of reasonably priced Perrier-Jouet Champagne and a couple of pretty good cocktails (the "Gold Rush" and the "McGlashan"). The creme brulee was a nice way to finish the meal. And, our service from Merryn was professional and friendly.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, phenomenal Customer Service, Great ambience
Absolutely great experience on New Year's Eve from Kelley and Vince- very professional, did everything they could to make sure we get the food equivalent to what we had pre-payed to reserve New Year's Eve large table of 9, outside with a great view of the Bay. Everything was absolutely fantastic and as described in advance.
Be the first to ReplyIconic seafood restaurant with CBD harbour views.
Rightly famed for its extensive selection of locally sourced fresh seafood, all of the starter and main course dishes were scrumptious, with a delectable blend of textures and colours. We selected a white and a red wine from the extensive wine list. Both were full-flavoured, and reasonably priced. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and so it was disappointing - for a restaurant of this standing - to experience erratic service . After our initial order, they were somewhat inattentive . . .slow in replenishing drinks, beginning to clear the table before everyone had finished.

Delicious food and very friendly wait staff but the way the maรฎtre d spoke to the staff and to my partner and I when we went to pay was so rude. Will never return!

An amazing starter of Prawn Cocktail containing the biggest Juiciest Prawns I have ever Tasted. Our mains were Ribeye on The Bone, tasty & tender with a Red Wine Jus with perfectly crisp Broccolini paired with a Pinot Moir (rude not to!) Selection of Cheeses to follow which also did not disappoint. All in all an excellent dining experience and certainly not to be missed if your in town with service to match. Bravo!!
Be the first to ReplyDo you have a spare table
After being told wr had a 40min wait at the previous venue we walked the water front looking for a place to eat. We entered harbour side grill, the gentleman on the desk, I believe the owner, was most abliging but informed us he only had a larger table avilable, which we readily accepted. As we were escorted through the restaurant a table for was vacated. It was reset I a flash and we sat. The waitress was exceptional, the kumue pinot gris stunning. The steamed kumra entrees great flavours and a perfect opening to our meal. My venison stunning Chris's market fish,(after a small hiccup with a prawn allery) was awesome. The whole experiance, although impromptu was well worth it. Thanks for a great dining experience.
