A steakhouse named desire.
My father in law wanted to try a genuine New York steakhouse, and there we are seated in this classy decorated restaurant. Personnel is extremely nice and serviceable since we are not americans and did not have all the references of cuts and whatnot. The meal itself had some of the best if not the best meats we ever had, and my in law has 25 years of experience in meat selling in the biggest market in Europe. Everything was perfect no less, you have to try it ...
Be the first to ReplyALWAYS THE BEST PLACE TO BE IN NEW YORK
The moment you enter this classic and historical place in New York you fell special. Meat is the one of the best I ever had in the last 20 years in New York. Invited very important clients and everyone was so impressed by the quality of the food and the attention to details on the service. Wine list is a MASTERPIECE

Service was perfect. We had steak and seafood. Everything was well cooked. Good wine selection. Only negative...bring your wallett.

My review will focus on the food and the wine as the service was impeccable. We had the Caesar Salad to start, which was impressive as he made the dressing from scratch in front of you. Unfortunately half way through the level of acidity in the dressing was volume 11 out of 10! I couldnโt finish mine. Next was the beef wellington and it came out well done so the meat was a bit tough and the sauce on the cold plate was cold! I wasnโt impressed. The side of mushrooms was also tepid as if they had been sitting on the side for 30 minutes. My wifeโs rib-eye steak was sensational. We ordered wine from the book of wines and this bottle needed decanting as the dregs at the end disturbed the wine with 2 glasses to go. The sommelier knew his stuff and he was very knowledgeable, just a shame he didnโt go that one step further. I would recommend this place but demand warm plates, avoid the Caesar salad until the head chef changes the recipe and ask for decanted wine.

I love Harry's and have been coming for years. Recently, I went to brunch and got steak and eggs. A few months ago, the steak was large and they sliced it for you, this was so small that I'm not sure I can even consider it a steak. Additionally, portions across the board felt small but I'm pretty sure prices have increased. I understand we're all struggling, but this was really a shame.
Be the first to ReplyThere are better steakhouses in NYC
We had a family dinner at the Harry's in late June, 9 people together, 6 adults 2 kids and 1 baby. It was an enjoyable evening. The steak was good, but there are better steakhouses in NYC. I ordered beef Wellington, which is supposed to the be signature of the Harry's. It was somewhat disappointing. I wish I had ordered steaks as my children. For dessert, my granddaughter ordered ice cream sundae. It came with three scoops of ice cream and 8 different toppings to self mixing. It was a delight.

First class all the way. The drinks, service, food were all great and service was professional and polished. Will return next time in the city.

the atmosphere was just what we were looking for. Son picked it out and I have to say he did great. from when we entered, to our seats, the maitre d', and the wait staff all through the meal were so professional. Everyone was attentive and on their A game. oh, and the food. steaks out of this world good. melt in your mouth. salads, sides, and the desserts, just perfect. Thank you

My son took me to this iconic restaurant in the financial district. A lovely lunch with attentive service. As to be expected French onion soup and chicken paillard.

It was so nice. The waiter was superb and very proper and polite. He served us delicious seltzer water and we ordered the beef Wellington. Absolutely delicious meal.

This restaurant had everything we were looking for - wonderful intimate interior, experienced wait staff who knew all about it and made recommendations when asked, great cocktails, and every bite of our food was delicious! We were delighted with the evening!
Be the first to ReplyHarry's Gets The Hatchet
Saturday evening myself and 6 guests made 7:30 PM reservations at Harry's with great anticipation. We were seated at a lovely round table and enjoyed cocktails while ordering dinner. From that point on the event was a complete disaster. It took over 90 minutes to get our dinner which was served ice cold. From the ribeye to the filet mignon and right down to the onion rings and creamed spinach. Everything was cold. Restaurants these days blame the pandemic for lack of employees. Harry's should take note from Delmonico - stay closed and only open when you are able to meet your published expectations and those of guests spending $1,000 plus for dinner. Recommendation - stay away for right now.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing Visit
When visiting a steakhouse the one thing they should get right is your steak. I ordered the bone-in filet mignon cooked medium rare. It was cooked medium at best, with little or no pink. My wifeโs hanger steak was cooked nicely, but had an unusual amount of gristle.
The desserts were extremely disappointing; the mixed summer berries were almost entirely blackberries and the strawberry rhubarb cobbler was a soupy messโฆand almost devoid of strawberries.
Although we had an early dinner reservation, and the restaurant was quit slow until the end of our dinner, we were seated next to a large party of 12. I understand they are holding tables for guests arriving later but the restaurant was still not full by the time we left.
One positive note, the service was excellent.
Don't order takeout
We ordered burger and lentil soup online for takeout. They didn't communicate that pickup was at next door's Adrienne's. Fluffy and stale chips, super salty soup.
Be the first to ReplyComfortable, excellent service and food, would go again!
I'm disappointed that one reviewer gave this restaurant a low score because people around them were wearing "streetwear". I value this place because of that. I don't associate other people's clothing with romance. But on to the restaurant! Love the historic India building. The ambience is subdued, comfortable, smooth. The staff were super helpful, friendly, and attentive. My oldest lives in an apartment on Wall St, super close, and I was worried about my youngest because we walked there and her hair was still wet from taking a shower...and in the process, we totally forgot her mask. Harry's produced a disposable mask for her! Above and beyond. They could have turned us away. Our food was incredible. Honestly, my oldest was craving creme brulee, so that's why we went - but we were happy with every part of this experience. The creme brulee is everything people said it was. And I appreciate a restaurant and staff that will treat all patrons the same, regardless of what they are wearing. We will return!
Be the first to ReplyGood Food; Questionable Wine Service
Under COVID compliance, we were seated around the corner on Stone Street with large groups of young revelers. I ordered a straw colored Sancerre with a faint nose and not typical mouthfeel of an old world Sancerre in minerality but still acidic with muted citrus notes and abbreviated finish. Friendly with cedar plank salmon and French fries. When I asked to see the bottle, the waiter brought me a bottle of the Sancerre Rouge instead and insisted I had the white version of the same wine but he wasn't able to produce the bottle for no stated reason. I would give it a 4 star food rating but an eatery at this repute should not risk practice that smacks of a bait & switch.

We came here for a romantic dinner on valentineโs day and were disappointed. Absolutely no romantic atmosphere whatsoever. People around us were dressed in careless streetwear, service was lousy. for me, not a place to eat an expensive steak. Would not go again, even though the wine card had a strong game.
