The Perfect 50th lunch
I had my 50th Birthday Lunch at Hogarths in the board room for 15 of my closest family & friends. From the minute we arrived it couldn’t have been more perfect. The room was set out beautifully with fresh flowers, the staff were so friendly, helpful & attentive & the food was just amazing. Every single one of my guests commented on how amazing the afternoon was. When is was time to sing happy birthday the managers came in and were dancing with us all. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to hogarths again whether it’s for an event, a meal in the restaurant or even a drink at the bar - every aspect was 10/10. Thank you Hogarths & staff for making my day very special x
Be the first to ReplyWhat a comfy bed!
The bed was the most amazing sleep I've had in a hotel in a long time - the combination of the sheets, pillows, duvet and mattress was glorious! Really comfortable, great shower, lovely bar area and very friendly staff. Stayed for work and would definitely recommend!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful hotel in beautiful setting. Luxurious, but missing the basics.
Beautiful hotel in beautiful setting. Luxurious, but missing the basics. We stayed in superior room, it was lovely, a nice size, very comfortable, beautifully decorated, nice views of the garden, albeit covered by scaffolding during our visit. Easy to check in, and the room was spacious and beautifully decorated. We did notice almost immediately the lack of a fridge. So queried this and was told they need to be requested ahead of time. That seemed a little odd to us. There was a very large illuminated decorative cabinet with water and an ice bucket, but no ice machine to be found anywhere. I’m not sure why they’d prioritise this illuminated cabinet over something more functional like a fridge! For dinner we wanted to order room service but there was no menu in the room, so we went down to reception to be told to do it on the tablet in the room, turns out we didn’t have one. The receptionist said that’s probably because it’s broken, they don’t always work, and she rounded up some menus for us to take up to our room. A few hours later we ordered food to the room, and were told it’d take around 30 minutes. An hour later my husband goes down to enquire and told “sorry, the order didn’t get put through, we’ll do it now and prioritise it”. They also comped 50% for the inconvenience. The food did arrive very quickly after the second order, but arrived with no salt & pepper, and my husband got a dirty napkin. My husband opted for fish and chips which was very oily. I opted for chicken flatbread which was very tasty, and the chips that came with it were the clear winner of both meals. A few other oddities about the room: there are no plug sockets or USB charging points next to the bed, which whilst only mildly inconvenient for me not to have my devices next to me, could prove wildly more than inconvenient if you rely on powered medical equipment whilst sleeping. There’s nowhere to hang a coat that isn’t wardrobe - which means you can’t hang them when wet, and it’s in England so there’s always potential for rain, and we did experience this inconvenience! There was no soap in the bathroom, we had to use shower gel to wash our hands. The shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, weren’t all the same brand. It was a nice touch with anti-fog section of mirror, though no good if you’re shorter than 5’5! It is a dog friendly hotel with dedicated dog-dining room so furry friends can join for dinner/ breakfast and plenty of room for them to run off-lead. We also spotted a secure dog run, but didn’t use this ourselves. Owners do have to sign a “good behaviour” agreement, which is brilliant in theory, but not so good when it’s not enforced, sadly the dog in the room next to us was quite noisy throughout the night, so we didn’t get the best night sleep. Which was a shame as the bed was very comfortable and the pillows fluffed to perfection! It would have been a nice touch to have some towels for dogs available if it’s raining out since they specify not to use the human towels on dogs, which is fair but if, like us, you didn’t have a towel with you (we left ours at crufts!), there’s no way to dry off the dog! It did say in the welcome there were dog treats in the room but we didn’t find them. Breakfast was another miss for us. There was no sugar tongs in the open sugar bowl so dread to think how many fingers have been in that. I ordered smashed avocado on toast and my husband ordered eggs royale. My plate arrived with a hair on it, and eggs more akin to very hard boiled so I sent it back. I think it was a manager that I asked and he didn’t offer an apology, just took my plate with a nod of the head. My husbands eggs were also overcooked, so we summised they are probably cooked earlier and left on a hot plate, which obviously results in overcooking. My second plate of food was redeemed and came with an apology from the manager but it meant I didn’t eat with my husband, rather 10 minutes after he had finished. When checking out I was asked about my stay so gave them our feedback, and they took it well, which I was happy about, as often staff are trained to ask this but not really care. I got the impression they really did care, but I’m not sure they agreed it wasn’t usual practice to have to ask for a fridge! All of the little things in isolation we likely wouldn’t have noticed, but they all added up to something being not quite right. It feels as if they’ve put in all the “extras” of being a beautiful luxury hotel but haven’t yet mastered the basics. If I went in expecting it to be a little bit odd, I’d have enjoyed my stay. So I would return, but if I did it would be with altered expectations!
Be the first to ReplyAn excellent afternoon tea experience
I took my daughter and granddaughter to Hogarth's for a birthday afternoon tea. It was an all round excellent experience. We were greeted warmly and given a secluded window table. The options were clearly explained by a very personable waitress who remained attentive but not intrusive. The food was delicious l, freshly prepare, imaginative and tastefully presented. The waitress had noted the birthday and it was marked with a decorated plate of delicacies.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect Christmas Stay
We checked in Christmas Eve with our dog Maisie for 2 nights together with mum, step-dad and his sister. We decided we wanted to have a Christmas with no cooking and a couple of days being looked after and a time to chill. Christmas Eve was a 3 course meal, breakfast both mornings and a 3 course Christmas Day meal. We booked a few months prior and pre booked our food orders prior to arriving. Laura Kembery was our contact who regularly kept in touch with us and was excellent with her communication. The food was superb and the staff amazing who went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. The hotel is a fantastic place to stay and we wouldn’t hesitate in spending another Christmas here. Our room was a nice size and very clean throughout. We had a deluxe room overlooking the gardens as requested making to easy for us to take our dog out. Special mention to both Craig and Wayne who were brilliant throughout our stay.
Be the first to ReplyXmas break 2023
Spent our Xmas this year at Hogarths . Had the most wonderful time. Service, food, facilities were second to none. The staff were so pleasant and so well organised and nothing was too much trouble . They looked after us from start to finish. Have spent Xmas there twice before but this was the best ever. Wonderful hotel and is very local to us so we do use this on a regular basis. Easy topark, great atmosphere so what more could you want. Well done to you all.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Christmas Stay
This was our third Christmas spent at Hogarths and this time we stayed 8 nights. We had a wonderful Christmas stay, with excellent service for our Christmas Day and Boxing Day lunches. We found Laura and Lee very helpful, friendly and attentive, always. The food was consistent with Hogarths high standards. We will definitely be staying again.
Be the first to ReplyParty for family and friends
We hired the Board Room for a 50th Wedding Anniversary party. It was just perfect, food excellent, service exceptional, staff incredibly helpful especially Tash who was at hand for all our requests. The afternoon was booked through Debbie Murray who could not have been more helpful, and proffesional she helped us have the perfect day for us all . 5* +++ would highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyLeft us with a bad taste
The service charge left a bad taste. We had been given a thoughtful gift of afternoon tea. When we came to leave we were asked to pay an enforced £6.50 service charge. As this was a gift I wasn’t expecting to have to pay for some of it myself. If they are so desperate for the extra money just add it into the cost of the afternoon tea.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent 30th birthday party
We booked our daughter’s 30th birthday party via Louise in events. Louise was extremely helpful in arranging the party and communication was good. On the night the team working the event were extremely helpful and professional .Initllaly the room was not laid out as we had requested, but the staff soon remedied this and the room was set to our liking .Throughout the night Jake was attentive and made sure all was running well, other members of staff were all excellent.Could not have been better .
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon tea
Attended afternoon tea with a large group of friends to celebrate a retirement. The hotel is in a beautiful setting. Toilets have lovely soap and lotions..The room was set up lovely. Enjoyed the ambience. The staff were friendly and attentive. What let them down was for the price we paid £35 only had a few sandwiches per table. Some of the fillings weee sparse. Selection of cakes some were dry and unfortunately the fruit scones were not cooked in the middle. We did have them changed but again some were doughy. We were told the chef did not believe it so some were returned for him to see. We never got any feedback from this. Most of us on one table left there feeling hungry! We did enjoyed the time spent there but I would not recommend it to my friends for that reason.
Be the first to Replygreat private dinning experience
I held my 60th birthday party in the board room and we had a lovely time. The Host Natalie was lovely and very helpful. The servers were great. The food was amazing even my 89 year old mother eat most of it. It was well organised and I'm going back again in Jul with friends
Be the first to ReplyMediocre afternoon tea
Afternoon Tea. Expensive at £29.95 a head and mediocre. Nothing special at all though the staff were friendly. Cakes were an odd mix of flavours and too sweet for even a cake lover. The real issue is the 10% service charge added to the bill. I find this rude & presumptive. In my view, Tips are earned, not demanded. A very average experience that we won’t be repeating.
Be the first to Reply50th Birthday party
We held my 50th in Hogarths private dinning room, and the whole event was fantastic. The team looked after us incredibly well, the food was excellent and Henry at the bar was standout. Couldn’t do enough for us. I would highly recommend the venue for any event you may have coming up.
Be the first to ReplyBest afternoon tea ever!
My friend took me for afternoon tea at Hogarth’s for my birthday. It was the nicest afternoon tea I have ever had! The room it is served in is bright and airy. There is plenty of room between the tables. The actual food was delightful… I am not bread fan so it was nice to have different breads for each of the sandwiches. The pastry on the mini tart was so light and an amazing texture and the scones were the nicest I have ever tried. I would fully recommend here and will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyLovely return visit
Lovely room overlooking the garden, such a tranquil place. The customer service was as usual outstanding, which made the overnight stay such a treat. Service with a smile at its best. Would be very happy to book again, and also very happy to recommend.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing stay
Rooms very basic, ours was meant to be superior, not sure about that, stain on carpet, marks on nets and inside wardrobe rail dirty, no usb port. In the morning we could not have a shower as we had no hot water. Breakfast selection in buffet not that good, and cooked breakfast very poor, egg the smallest I have ever seen, bacon and sausage undercooked, could not be bothered to complain. Overpriced room rate and definitely not worth the money, plus point the staff who were friendly and helpful. I expected hotel to contact me but heard nothing.
Be the first to ReplyGreat venue for a celebration
Visited Hogarths for my father-in-laws 80th Birthday 20 years after getting married in the same Hotel. It's only my second time back since and I was surprised by all the changes. Great venue. The food was good but the service was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyCorporate Kick Off 2023
Yet another successful two days with the whole UKI team at Hogarths for our 2023 Kick Off. Thank you to Louise and her team for their devil in the detail during the arrangements to the outstanding team who have looked after us during our stay. Accommodation was great. Our working lunches were lovely and the canapes for our pre-dinner drinks delicious. The extra mile extended to us with birthday balloons, Happy Birthday Plate for one of our staff who had a milestone birthday and the fresh honey and lemon drinks delivered to help the voice above and beyond. Special shout out goes to April who is always a pleasure to see and have on the team looking after us. THANK YOU ALL. Back Soon
Be the first to ReplyLunch
Nice surroundings. Disabled toilet facilities poor and entrance to lift obstructed with bags and coat stand. Starters nice although no butter provided for bread with soup. Main courses very disappointing- bland, no seasoning, roast potatoes were just boiled and slightly browned
Be the first to ReplyFabulous Christmas !!
My wife and I (along with our dog) have just spent Christmas at Hogarth’s near Solihull……and we’ve had a great time. It’s a top quality hotel, in a lovely setting, but only made better by the exceptional and extremely attentive staff including:- Wayne - the General Manager….he is an absolute star!! Never stops!! Louise & Laura (and everyone else) - on reception, before and during our stay. Jake & Henry (and everyone else) - on and in the bar area throughout our stay. Noor & Sophie (and everyone else) - in the various restaurants we visited during our stay. I just wish that we could remember and, therefore, mention all of the other names of everyone who made our overall experience so special!! They ALL did!! Nothing was too much trouble for any of them!! We’ve had a great time, so thank you ALL very much!! Regards, Robert Here’s to 2023!!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent.
Everything I wanted for my trip down to the West Midlands. Lovely quiet country setting. easy access, plenty of parking. Clean well appointed room, slept well. Friendly and attentive staff. Excellent breakfast. I'm sure I will be back when I'm next in that location.
Be the first to ReplyReturn stay at Hogarths
Just returned from an overnight stay at Hogarths Solihull where complimentary stay for 6 of us with dinner and breakfast were included due to some issues at our wedding last year because of a flood.
We were all treated to some welcome back chocolates and they even put a bottle of Prosecco in our room.
The decor is lovely and the staff were amazing.
We all had a wonderful time so thanks to the team there for making our stay so special.
Beautiful hotel and lovely to return to see the hotel and rooms open again after our wedding last August.
Disappointing Mother’s Day lunch
I love Hogarth’s & have visited many times over the last 10 years. It’s also my Mum’s favourite place for Christmas lunch, however, Mother’s Day lunch disappointed.
The big let down was the hour wait for our food, which had been pre-ordered days before. Ordinarily, the food is amazing. Yesterday, it was ok. It was tepid, not hot. The beef is usually awesome & pink. Yesterday it wasn’t.
The staff however did work really hard & the customer service was excellent. They even paid for a round of drinks for us when our waitress spilled a couple of drinks & my Mum, who is disabled, needed some additional care. They were very attentive to her needs & boxed up her dinner & dessert.
Well done Maz!
I was taken for afternoon tea by my daughter as an early Mother’s Day treat.
The food was superb but what made the whole occasion very very special was the service we received from Maz, from the moment we arrived to when we left we were made to feel like royalty by Maz, nothing was too much trouble and he went over and above, definitely going the extra mile to ensure we had the very best experience.
Thank you Maz and Hogarths’s.
