😒 3/5 - Barcelona has so many excellent dining options for all

Barcelona has so many excellent dining options for all types of food. I chose Hoja Santa as one of my stops due to the excellent reviews and the fact that I can't get this type of food at home. Also, I felt like I couldn't go to Barcelona without trying an Albert Adrià restaurant. The dishes were creative and beautifully presented, but I felt service wise we were rushed and up-sold. My flight left nearly 24 hours late. I had only been in Barcelona for a few hours when meal time came. I didn't want to order the biggest course as my body was thrown off from the airport debacle. They have two tasting menus and one has more courses and supposedly more seafood. I don't eat beef or pork, which I put in my written reservation and in the phone call I received 24 hours before where they inquired about it again. I wanted the shorter course option. The waitress kept pushing for the longer one saying it is a better fit for me because of the seafood. I explained my situation and she said it was fine and not really a difference in portion size. I was also hesitant because I'd budgeted for the other course and all people in the party had to do the same one. Before we'd even ordered they started bring the amuse and we pressured to hurry up and make our drink orders. After we ordered, more food came out immediately and didn't stop. They'd take my plate the second my fork hit the table. I know they're on a time schedule, but this wasn't my first time at the fine dining rodeo and when I'm paying that much (and in this case even more than I'd budgeted), I don't want to be rushed. We weren't halfway through when I noticed there was no way I was going to make it through all these courses. Looking around at other tables, I really wish I hadn't caved to the pressure and stood my ground on the other course. At one point, I started to feel sick, probably from eating so much so quickly after not having much sleep or food for a while. I got up to use the restroom, and they stopped me to see where I was going. They asked if I could wait because the next course was on it's way. It was uncomfortable at this point. The food itself ranged from very incredibly delicious to interesting but not something I would choose to eat. If possible I would return just for the coconut dessert. It was so beautifully presented and so fresh tasting and not very sweet. It looked like coconut but was indeed sorbet lining the shell. It was everything a dessert should be and probably the best dessert I had all year. I enjoyed the earlier savory courses with light flavors much better than the heavier later courses. The welcome drink made from cocoa was lovely and so was the crispy corn amuse. Heck, all the amuses were mind blowing. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and flavorful. I didn't enjoy later heavy dishes such as the mushroom tacos or red prawn. They felt so heavy and the flavors were strong ones I didn't enjoy. We only had one drink each, thankfully since there was no more room to consume things. They were good, but not a must have as it was basically a margarita with a lot of foam. As I saw mentioned in another review either on here or TripAdvisor, the dining room had people in it but was uncomfortably quiet. The service and atmosphere was world's different from what we experienced at our other fine dining experiences on this trip. It felt very mechanical and rushed at Hoja Santa. Most of the dishes are tasty, but I felt disappointed service-wise for the price point.
