Just a disclaimer that this review is for a delivery order, so I can't comment on atmosphere or service on location. I ordered the two meat platter (ribs, pulled pork, with mac and cheese and collards for sides). The good: One of the big things I look for in BBQ is well-packaged takeout/delivery meals and Home Team does this very well! A lot of places tend to just throw everything in together so it winds up a mess when you actually go to eat it. This meal was VERY neatly packaged, with everything in separate packets/containers, including sauces, all tucked into a box. The pulled pork was delicious. I'm usually prepared for takeout pulled pork to be dried out, but this was super moist and flavorful. The collards were pretty good and were well-cooked. They did have a slight sweetness which I'm not used to, but it wasn't unpleasant by any means. The sweet red sauce was great. Not too sweet, still had a little kick of spice, but tasted fresh and went well with the pork. The slightly less-good: The ribs had a good crust and were juicy, but my portion was mostly fat. Considering the upcharge to get them on the platter, I expected a meatier portion. I like fatty meat, but this was overkill. Also the mac and cheese tasted like they had forgotten the cheese. It was basically dried out pasta with a little sprinkling of seasoning and a slight crust in some places. Not sure if I just got a bad portion, but it's not something I will ever order again. The white sauce was a little lacking in flavor, and kind of just coated whatever it was put on and didn't add anything to it. When I order again in the future, I'll definitely stick to the sweet red or try another sauce.
Overall, points for well-packaged filling food that was for the most part decent. I will order again or stop by if I'm around to give them another chance (alongside more of that pulled pork).
