Bak chang
The bak chang is generous in size, flavorful but on the salty side. Store hygiene acceptable.
Avoid lunch time crowd if you have no time to wand wait
Call before going
Not bad. When I arrived at 130 pm, they only had the $5 chang, which has mushrooms, salted egg and pork. It was quite fragrant, but I thought it could have used more braised pork.
They are open on Mondays to Saturdays, but usually run out of bak chang by 2 pm. Better to call them check before heading there.
One of the Best Hokkien Bak Chang in Singapore
My favourite is with the Salted Egg Yolk. I usually buy at the Bukit Merah store, less crowded and no queues.

Had tried a couple of famous bak zhang in Singapore (Kim Choo and the one at Hong Lim
Complex) but not this yet as one has to call to make a reservation at least a day before collection.
Bought the cheapest priced of all their rice dumpling - hokkien bak Zhang with chestnut (S$3). Though the bak Zhang seemed smaller but itโs filled with ingredients - lean pork meat and chestnuts. Typical hokkien bak zhang uses pork belly instead. I personally prefer lean pork meat and I must say, this lean pork meat doesnโt taste too dry.
This shop only sells hokkien bak Zhang (different variety such as with chestnuts or with chestnuts and mushrooms or with chestnuts, mushrooms and salted egg yolk) and doesnโt sell nonya zhang or Kee Zhang.
Michelin Bib Gourmand food on a budget
The rice dumpling is nicely wrapped in bamboo leaves. There is a generous amount of meat & chestnuts. The glutinous rice is fragrant and chewy.
