Top Chef Winner's first restaurant
This was my second time to visit Huso. The first time was in Dec. 2019, way before Chef Buddha Lo won the Top Chef competition. Being foodies, we knew back then his creations were special and he would go far -- and we told him so! In 2019 he served us and took time to chat with us - he's the nicest person! When we had lunch there in Dec. 2022 Buddha had just won America's Top Chef and wasn't preparing the lunches. I've included photos of our lunch (1) and from our 2019 visit - the dishes are as delicious as they are creative! Good luck getting a reservation!

My husband and I are big Top Chef fans. When we found out the winner of the most recent season, Buddha, is showcasing his dishes from the competition at Huso Restaurant, we knew we had to go. Booking it was tough, very limited availability, and the staff told us they regularly have 200+ on the waitlist, so please plan ahead. The restaurant is a small room with 12 seats, tucked in the back of the Cavier shop, very intimate and cozy. They only offer one set menu, with wine pairing as an option. The night we visited, they also had an optional white truffle supplement for their parker house rolls, priced at 85usd. We were not disappointed by the presentation and the taste of each dish. We were especially impressed by the first course: cavier with hamachi crudo -- brinny, melt in your mouth cavier on top of refreshing thinny sliced zucchini, on top of well seasoned yellowtail sashimi cubes. The parker house rolls with country ham butter was to die for. Warm, gooey and pillowy soft. I really liked the lobster tail laksa as well, the lobster, not a minute too cooked, paired with a warm spicy coconuty laksa broth, mmmm My husband really enjoyed the cod dish. The nori, despire soaked in sauce, did not cake in your mouth. It worked beautifully with the perfectly cooked, sweet flesh of the cod. We enjoyed every dish. The staff were chatty and friendly. They were knowledgeable about the ingredients and the origin of the wines too. Parking is minimal around the restaurant, would recommend taking rideshare/public transit to the restaurant.

We had a long lunch at Markys, also called HUSO. Every course was great. Sevruga on PEI oysters, brioche,osetra on eggs, a caviar lobster roll, an amazing strawberry desert, all w 2 different great champagnes, served beautifully and pleasantly in a small but elgant room. Cant wait to go back

The ABSOLUTE BEST Caviar Tasting around!
Such an amazing array of unique offerings for the 8-Course Caviar Tasting. The area is very small, yet personal, and beautiful. The staff is amazing, and go above and beyond to please their customers.
I brought my Caviar loving eldest daughter here for her birthday in October while we were visiting NY, and she absolutely LOOOOOVED everything about it! My daughter and I didn't quite like the taste of the Foie gras, and the cook didn't hesitate to replace the two tastings with a lovely fish/caviar dish - it was nothing less than heavenly!
It was such an amazing and unique experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this experience before you depart this Earth, if only once.
*I am currently in NY for business, and made lunch reservations for myself and my youngest 2 daughters week. CAN'T WAIT!!!
Crab hotdog with Caviar!
Huso is small (maybe 10 seat) space behind Marky's retail space. All the seats were occupied while we were there - probably a bit too busy for one person - who also seemed to be tending to the retail part.
At any rate - the caviar was excellent excellent!. We did one of the tastings. We also had 6 oysters that were fresh, minerally and properly shucked. We finished our lunch with the carb "hotdog" that had caviar as a "relish." If you love caviar make this a must do on your list.
New York's first Caviar Speakeasy is not to be missed!
My husband and I had an incredible 8-course caviar tasting menu dinner at Huso, a caviar speakeasy in the back of Markys Caviar. Chef Buddha Lo comes from Eleven Madison Park and is outstanding in his presentation as well as his flavorful creations. The food and service are top-notch. There are only 12 seats in the dining room which was nicely decorated with marble top tables and dark blue walls. Huso opened in April 2019 and I would be surprised if it doesn't receive a Michelin star this year. If you are a foodie, this is a must! Chef Buddha Lo will delight your senses in all 8 courses!

I can't believe how incredibly wonderful this restaurant is. Caviar ingeniously coupled and paired with each dish. Wine pairing delightful as thoughtful. Highly recommend. This chef is as talented as any Michelin starred chef in this city...if not, more so. Will be back.
