Best Italian restaurant in Little Italy
Amazing food, staff and ambiance. Had the most unbelievable pastas and chicken parm. Also had a few of the specials.. veal chop, steak and the great desserts.

Great experience from A to Z and the family loved it! Will definitely visit again on next visit to Manhattan.
Be the first to Replycontinues really good
Staff were helpful and friendly. Good wine and beer list. We split a caesar salad. One had pasta with cream sauce for a main. One had the chicken rollatine, which was a huge portion and well-presented. No room for dessert. A generous meal, satisfying. One of us has been here many years before, and the quality continues.

Lunch at Il Cortile is such a treat. From the atmosphere to the amazing food, you wonโt be disappointed. We had 8 people in our party, a girls trip to NYC. Our server (I wish I could recall his name) was very friendly and efficient. This was a great visit!
Be the first to ReplyGood but not great
Very much the stereotype of an Italian-American restaurant: very good service, average food, high prices. Much of this might be due to the neighborhood, which is over-touristed at present.
Be the first to ReplySlowest service
We had a table booked here at 7pm on a Friday evening. When getting to the restaurant, the queue was out of the door - with every person have a reservation. We werenโt seated at our table for nearly an hour, so it was obviously overbooked! The woman who took us to our table was really friendly & couldnโt apologise enough for the wait. The food then took nearly another hour to be brought out to us, with the waiter blaming us as we picked something โthat takes long to cookโ? The food was average, service wasnโt great and wouldnโt recommend.
Be the first to ReplyAn amazing lunch and a reply to negative reviews
Last Saturday (12/10/22) my wife and I had lunch in the "garden" room. Before making my reservation, I had read the negative reviews, but decided to go anyway. I made the reservation at the start of their day (12 noon)...when the kitchen and staff are fresh and not under pressure. Upon entering I gave my name. I was given a warm greeting and the maitre d' acknowledged my requested table. The restaurant was decked out with beautiful Christmas decorations and my two seater had a great view of the room. Our waiter was "Sammy", a terrific guy, who helped with menu selections. To let you know, i come from an Italian family (South Philly), so i appreciate good Italian food. Try the Rigatoni Speciale....it was off the charts. So many subtle flavors in the sauce! Not often does a restaurant deliver the "whole package"....from greeting, table, waiter, drinks to desert, Il Cortile delivered an amazing, Christmas time in Little Italy meal. One of the most pleasant in the last 5 yrs. A big Thank You and Happy Holidays to the staff!!
Be the first to ReplyDonโt go here!
What an awful place. I love a good Italian restaurant but this place was just terrible. The good reviews amaze me? Perhaps we were unlucky? We turned up on time to be told our table isnโt ready, weโre hustled into a dirty corner at the back for a drink. No menus? Chucked a wet business card with a QR code to never see a barman again. We eventually get hustled to a table where we couldnโt hear ourselves think or speak to one another - everyone was shouting around us. Told: no menus and we have to scan another QR code. We eventually get served and the food came out quickly. The majority of it was edible - but not of a good quality. Quantity yes but quality - no. To summarise: Donโt go unless you want a roust noisy night out with bad Italian food.

There are so many options for Italian food in NYC but our visit to II Cortile was beyond expectations! The staff, service, festive atmosphere, and food were excellent! Thank you to the entire staff for taking such great care of us. Highly recommend.

Amazing food and atmosphere!! We ate there on our last night in NYC and it was amazing!!! Our server was great about recommendations and we loved the singing.
Be the first to ReplyVery Good Service & Food
We enjoyed our dinner very much. The restaurant was busy but the acoustics were good so we could still hear each other. Our pasta was very good generous portions. Excellent service.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, beautiful ambiance and awesome waiters
Enjoyed a delicious dinner in this beautiful restaurant. The food and service was excellent. Made plans to come back for the feast in September.

We were three people and asked to eat in the garden.. they claimed they didn't have any room which we insisted and then they said can i wait for five minutes,, brought me to an upper area and left me to wait. I ordered a wine , small glass for 14 dollars and they took forever to bring me my change.. then they sat us down and from there the service was pretty good. I received a very large bill and I knew right away it was not mine.. they said yes I said no.. then they realized that they had combined my dishes with the table next to us on their drinks.. $60 dollars less than originally billed we had our meal. I had my son with me.. and they never asked us if we wanted any dessert! just brought the bill.. it was an odd place.. don't need to return. Very touristy including a man walking around asking if he could take photos and charge I assume for his services.
Be the first to ReplyClassic Italian whatโs not to like?
Classic Italian dishes with very good service in Little Italy, whatโs not to like? The service is outstanding, they have so many waiters itโs ridiculous. Very good Italian classics. Large portions. Are they going to win Michelin stars no, are you gonna be happy yes. Eating outside on the street has great atmosphere also.
Be the first to ReplyNot Authentic Itlalian
This is not authentic Italian. Table bread tasted like bulk purchased rolls. Pasta was boxed and sauce tasted like it came from a jar. Stay away.
Be the first to ReplyOur go to place to eat Italian in Little Italy
I started visiting this restaurant about 20 years ago. It is still my go to Place when we visit NYC. Outstanding meal and service second to none. I love how the waiters work together to bring a memorable experience. Kudos to them and management. I ordered Pollo Rollatine Vall dโ Aosta as my entree. Normally I would never order a chicken dish when I dine out but am so glad I did. This chicken dish was maybe one of the most flavorful dish I have had in a very long time. Wow!

We wanted to eat outside, I called to make sure it would be okay. Upon arriving eating outside seemed somewhat of a hassle. Once they agreed (they have seating for 50 outside but we were the only ones) they were really accommodating. We sat, ordered a pitch of the red sangria which was really good (and we make it, and have had it across Europe).
They brought without asking a bottle of flat water. We are bubbles people but whatever. We share two good apps and had really nice entres. We talked about coming back except $11 for a bottle of flat water we didn't order, plus NYC tax and I tipped on the total.
It ruined what would have been a really nice meal to end a hectic week. Did they think we were tourists? Do they do this to everyone? It was a big disappointment to what would have been a really nice experience. We would be back with the whole family in just a few weeks, but that isn't going to happen.
The Heart of Little Italy
Everything was fabulous- including the pear burrata- wow the pears were amazing! We all had pasta dishes- canโt go wrong with any. Restaurant is darling with white twinkle lights and authentic feel. Loved it
Be the first to ReplyExcellent, not touristy, beautiful ambiance.
Beautiful ambience; excellent, friendly, attentive service. Delicious food. This place is a lot bigger than it looks. Pretty bright atrium seating, an addition to inside and a bar. Service was great. Fried calamari was good, bread at the table also really good. Branzino over spinach risotto was excellent hot and fresh. Spaghetti marinara with shrimp was also delicious. A pinch pricey, but worth it if you want a lovely and not touristy experience.
We also got seated at the Tony Soprano table, which was funny. Lots of Soprano memorabilia on walls.
Delicious Italian Meal
On my first night in NYC I had a lovely dinner in Little Italy at Il Cortile. My table was in the atrium and cozy. Staff was attentive which is always appreciated. Started off with an antipasti of mozzarella with tomato and basil followed by one of their daily special pastas, ravioli stuffed with short ribs. Loved it. An apple tart finished my meal.
Highly recommend.
Great Little Italy spot!
My family of 4 plus 1 family friend dined here on Thanksgiving night. We did have reservations and were seated in the lounge area until our table was ready. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming. The food was outstanding!

My group and I had a lovely meal at Il Cortile. The ambiance and service were great and the food was very tasty! Would definitely recommend and go back :)
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best in Little Italy
This is a long standing fav in Little Italy. Been here a number of times. The menu is more Italian American than Italian. No game meats, for example. Lovely setting.
Tidbit-- This place was favorite for the Sopranos TV cast to have dinners. Many of the actors live/lived downtown in the West Village or Tribeca. Worth a visit if in the neighborhood. Fine dining. Parking can be challenging. Take the train ( subway).
Best restaurant
Had to come back again to this beautiful restaurant because it has really great authentic Italian food. We had another amazing time with awesome drinks, wine and waiters that were very nice, knowledgeable and guided us along the way! Truly great experience again. Love Little Italy.

We traveled to NYC a Birthday quick trip. Picked this restaurant based on reviews and it was not disappointing. the food was amazing. Coming from a Boston Italian Family we were pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed our mail and waitstaff.
