Very good. I think the portions are very good, the preparation is balanced and the price is the best I have eaten in Italy. I would definitely return

Magnificent “piccolo gourmet ristorante” a due passi da Piazza San Marco. Creative cuisine, color and flavor! Bella list of wine! E SOPRATTUTTO la gentilezza et la benevolenza di VIOLA che regala a questa stanza splendidamente decorata un’esperienza extremely serena! Magnificent “small gourmet restaurant” very close to San Marco Square. Creative, colorful and flavorful cuisine! Nice wine list! AND ESPECIALLY the kindness and benevolence of VIOLA who gives this beautifully decorated room an extremely serene experience!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic dinner spot
Wonderful place to have creative but genuine cuisine. Seafood heavy, because it is Venice, but there are many other options if you need. The suggested courses were varied and exciting. Maybe surprisingly, dessert was the best - a frozen grapefruit thing with vanilla and chocolate Viola, our server, was great also
Be the first to ReplyVenetian Secret
This restaurant has a touch of class; we had the tasting menu with matching wines, no prior indication of the courses but each one was a wonderful surprise, Viola at front of house is very friendly and competent, we left with nice memories, unassuming but superb
Be the first to ReplyBig fall in style, After the loss of the Michelin star, unfortunately the raw material is not worthy of the cost.
On a Monday evening 3 tables occupied, two tables of French and the two of us opted for the Fish tasting menu 130 euros per person, we paired a basic Chablis vintage 22 at a cost of 75 euros, the non-existent service followed by a gentleman, with slippers and an innkeeper's apron, from time to time he went back and forth to the the tavern next door L'accighetta. We were served some Sicilian oil with some simple regenerated bread, as a welcome, some creamed cod with a too fatty taste, it seemed like they had used cream, and a tatelletta with sweet mayonnaise and scraps of raw sea bass which you can find as a second course on the menu, as an appetizer raw prawns with micro leeks, but good, followed by imported scallops, with banal mushrooms and scorzone truffle just 3 flakes of number, this dish was presented with black truffle nothing special, but if you communicate black truffle it must be black, Following this came a seafood risotto, cooked with a broth and garnished with kazzubuschi, loose and too al dente, the second course was a farmed sea bass, very small and thin, the skinless tails were paired and covered with a saffron zabaglione, at the end comes a dessert made up of pieces of white and milk chocolate placed on top of a crumble of black polenta, with grapefruit granita. Not a bad idea, but the execution should be more careful, after a while with a coffee and a grappa it arrives a piece of slightly over-toasted hazelnut brittle and two biscuits, the total cost for two people was 350 euros, for Venice there is room for that, with a more attentive and adequate service, but above all high-end raw materials and more transparency
Be the first to ReplyRelaxed restaurant with a focus on local produce and food tradition
Il Ridotto is a small fine dining restaurant run by a father-son duo who recreate traditional cuisine with a modern twist. Most ingredients are from Venice, and one of the three wine pairing options only contains wine from the region, too. Service was friendly and attentive. Initially, the pace at which the various courses were served was just perfect, however, as the restaurant became busier during the night, things slowed down a bit. We found the dishes all of high quality. Based on local tradition, all dishes were centered around local produce and fish from the lagoon. If you like well-made food served in a nice, relaxed atmosphere, you will enjoy a night out at Il Ridotto.
Be the first to Reply3 hour disaster
This spot is great for 3 hour wait times and uninspired food with one half decent dish on the menu. Everything else is a disaster. There is one employee working there and it did not help that she was also the hostess. She kept telling us 5 more minutes but in really we sat there for 3 hours to get our main course. I really did not enjoy this dinner with my family and I do not recommend it to anyone. Thank you for your time.
Be the first to ReplyPretentious and disappointing
We went for lunch, with good expectations, since among others, the restaurant was recommended by the Michelin guide. The place is nice and the service is always friendly, but we felt disappointed, because although the food was not bad, it did not stand out at all; We found it rather pretentious. But what announced the mediocrity that we would ultimately see were the appetizers: we ordered a Dry Martini and a Campari Spritz. They didn't know how to do either! Which, in Venice, the city of aperitif, birthplace of cocktails and above all, of the Spritz, is, to say the least, a capital sin. What we were served was a Vermouth Martini Bianco on the rocks and an analcolic bitter respectively. When I discussed it with the waitress and she in turn with the owner, they denied it. Very disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyA birthday dinner to cherish
My wife and I just completed an outstanding evening extravaganza at Il Ridotto. Gianni & Nicola Bonacorrsi created a gourmet delight tonight to celebrate my birthday, visiting this restaurant for the first time from Toronto. Welcomed and given our choice of seating, we began with selecting from tasting menus or an a la carte menu, we chose the former, a 5 course fish menu. Having started with Prosecco in our hotel, we selected two glasses wonderful white wines, a Sauvignon and a Malvasia. Both wines were outstanding. Our meal began with a gazpacho soup accompanied by a small dish of cod. These were so tasty that we wondered whether the rest of the meal could measure up? But we were not disappointed. Three scallops topped with shredded zucchini followed that were perfectly cooked ringed by a toothsome sauce. Next we savored the mushrooms and calamari that were nothing short of outstanding. Green fish risotto, a mouth-watering plate that was satisfying and delicious. The main was a riccioli, a Mediterranean white fish that was soft and delicate, topped with perfectly cooked eggplant. And finally aside from my birthday candle in sweet orange square, the dessert was a medley of citrus sauces covered with biscuits and flaked chocolate. Its was a complex dessert that I am certain I have not done justice to in my description but was absolutely wonderful. We ordered 2 glasses of Limoncello only to find it was homemade! Not to be put off by the amber color of the limoncello, we were totally blown away by its perfect flavor, smooth and light quality and intense after kick. The service was nothing short of perfect. Gianni explained the tasting menu, each plate was then served with an explanation and the pace between plates was well-timed. The staff were helpful but not overbearing and the ambience was warm and friendly. I am at a loss to leave a single comment on how to improve our evening; as is often said, it is difficult to improve on perfection. Thank you for making my birthday celebration such a special occasion and for serving your customers with such grace and panache. We cannot wait to return to Venice and to enjoy Il Ridotto again. Cheers and best wishes, Jerrold & Robin Lerman
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, quiet atmosphere.
We skipped the tasting menus and picked our own. In a word, it was great. Lobster, scallops, risotto, fish, guinea fowl, beautiful deserts. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Couldnt rave more about this place! Small, charming, and easy to find near St. Marks square, I had high expectations based on the prior reviews I read. Every one of them was exceeded. This was by far our favorite place in our entire trip (14 days that included three other Michelin start restaurants!) The service was phenomenal considering there was only one "wait" person, the food sublime. ALL of us agreed that this was the start of our trip!
Be the first to ReplyAm I being Punk’d
We were so excited to visit this restaurant as it was hyped up as an amazing experience only seating 9 tables at a time. We were on our honeymoon so we were looking forward to a romantic dinner with each other. We decided to do the tasting menu, but our first mistake was not asking what was on the menu. It was just listed as “tasting menu” and that was it. We had previously had wonderful experiences with tasting menus elsewhere, but we were very unaware of what was to come. We started our meal with an extremely fishy ground up tunafish consistency cod of some sort. I would equate it to week old tuna fish that has sat in your fridge and then was scooped out with a spoon (I believe another review called it something comparable to cat food, which was pretty accurate). The next item was a melon type salad, it was probably the best course of the entire meal. Following the melon salad we were presented with risotto and tiger shrimp. Immediately bit into crunchy extremely undercooked risotto. As my husband and I were biting into this risotto we laughed a little and whispered to each other about how crunchy it was. This is when things started to go awry every time we spoke or laughed we were treated with glaring stares from people in the restaurant. We found this bizarre given most places in Italy had been loud and lively. The courses continued and only got worse. Given that this was a tasting menu the portions were also larger than normal. A tasting menu is typically a few bites, this was 6-7+ bites of food. I hated doing this, but I could not finish that crunchy risotto so our plates were cleared with food still left. The waitress informed us they could provide smaller plates and we said that would be wonderful, at this point I’m pretty sure we were on a prank show where the production crew was sitting behind the glass walls seeing how much of this coarse we would make it through. I was thinking that mtv show called boiling points was being remade and we were their targeted customers. Anyways the next item I think was boiled sweet breads. Nothing but a piece of parsley and boiled sweet breads on the plate. I tried it, but wowwww it was a no for me. I have eaten sweet breads in the past and these were just awful. My husband finally proclaimed “we are paying for this you don’t have to suffer through that like you are on fear factor”. So I politely left it on my plate and we moved on to the next course. The next item was supposed to be pigeon which is typically a darker meat, but we ended up with a sliver of over cooked white meat.. I’m hoping was chicken and a single caramelized onion on the plate. At this point I’m convinced this is 100% a prank. We made it through several other items that were so un worthy of even being called food that I can’t even remember what they were. I’m also assuming the chef was upset that we couldn’t stomach the “cat food” cod or un seasoned boiled sweetbreads and just purposefully gave us garbage scraps. Long story short this was the one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. However if you are looking for the thrill of living through an episode of Punkd feel free to visit this place. After spending over 500 dollars for food that should’ve been fed to the farm animals I will not even be revisiting. This place is far from being Michelin star worthy.
Be the first to ReplyNot Nearly Worth the Money
Maybe it was an off night, a very off night, but the meals my wife and I had were not nearly up to expectations. First, the wait for our first course was almost 45 minutes (albeit following an amuse bouche). The first course was a pasta dish with a fish stock that resembled a thick soup that fought for distinction: a soup or a pasta? The flavors were"interesting," but not particularly pleasant. Another45 minutes and entrees appeared: tiny in size and not particularly good. My wife had a Red Mullet which was tough and tasteless - and small in size. My duck was tough (although the sauces were very good), and also tiny in size. Finally, desert was supposed to be creme brulee, but was only so in the chef's imagination. Sadly, for the money, and even on it's own, a big disappointment.
Be the first to ReplyNice venue
The taster menu was slightly disappointing. Sweetbreads are not my favourite and the pudding was slightly underwhelming , given that the owner can make one of the best chocolate puddings in Venice.
Be the first to Replyaccomplished food but too expensive for what it is.
My meal was fine/OK - all the courses were cooked well and presented well but its the type of food where everything is quite "light and modern" and not really packing much flavour. There was no real stand out dish and for €150++ I expect that. For the tasting menu but they don't tell you at all what you're going to be getting (even when you ask. I got the feeling that maybe it change as the night goes on?) so really difficult to order appropriate wine. The wines that were recommended by the sommelier were good however. The table service was very efficient and good at first but as the restaurant got busy (after 8:30) we felt a bit forgotten. I think if you are used to higher end dining this wont stay in your memory.
Be the first to ReplyBest fine Dining in Venezia (so far...)
If you want to (fine) dine in venezia, Il ridotto is one of the best choices to do so. The small restaurant is a guarantee for the very best service we ever had here in Venezia since 25 years visiting. A fish-nemue and a meat-menue are the highlights. Also a-la carte orders are possible. Next time: again.
