Visit Indochine regularly historically but after last night, never again.
The bill arrived at our table from our hostess for the evening, whilst we were drinking our dessert coffee and only 1 hour and 20 minutes into our reservation . Note WE HAD NOT asked for the bill at this point however it was still pushed under our noses. (I would understand if we had overstayed the acceptable 2 hour reservation or if the restaurant was busy in comparison to other well established DIFC mainstays, which it wasn't).
The hostess then asked if we would like to leave a tip, although the service left much to be desired we went with the respectable amount of 15% of the overall bill. The first transaction got declined due to being above contactless amount so THE HOSTESS suggested she just re-enter the overall amount and do the transaction again. Placing faith in the integrity of my hostess and a so called fine dining establishment she bumped up the agreed circa 115 AED tip to a 544 AED tip unbeknownst to myself, and then proceeded me to enter my pin rather rapidly and disappeared with my itemised bill.
My banking app flashed up the amount charged which was almost double the entire bill. I asked for the itemised bill from two members of staff. After scurrying about for 15 minutes I was finally presented with one that stated the 544 AED tip which was never agreed by myself. I then proceeded to ask to speak to a manager twice to no avail.
In resolution after so much as not an apology they agreed to refund the 544 AED tip that was pulled from thin air when finalising my final charge with no apology and sent me on my merry way.
Personally would no longer rather spend my hard earned money in a place that lacks integrity and basic customer services when restaurants nearby such as Shanghai Me, Clap or Amazonico value their customers a lot more.
