Not the best experience
There wasn't too long of a wait at 9PM on a Saturday night. The dishes were alright, nothing spectacular. Brussel sprouts and uni came out fairly quickly. One of the entrees, the Unagi don, came out shortly afterwards. I thought this was a little suspect, but the temperature was fine, as was the taste. They ran out of the Uni pasta, which was what I was actually looking forward to. Then we sat there for a while waiting for the other entree, the sea bass. Our server came by to say that the sea bass was going to come out soon and there was a delay because it was "so busy." Well, they also forgot about our tako yaki appetizer, which at that point, we didn't even want anymore. They still brought it out and said it was on the house. Gee thanks, I guess. The sea bass was plated beautifully and tasted great, albeit a little on the oily side. It was a pretty big portion and because there was a lot of downtime of not eating, I became really full and couldn't finish all of it. Also super loud to the point where you have to shout when having a conversation. Enjoyed the food, but not the weird pace of the meal.

Delightful Izakaya in Japantown. Food is delicious and menu has a lot of variety. Every dish we ordered was fantastic! Three of us shared 5 dishes, and wanted to try more but were full, so definitely plan to return. Reasonable prices. Friendly service. Nice atmosphere. We sat in the main room, but there are some private little rooms where you sit on the floor (I assume you would need reservations for those).

We went here late at night for a quick dinner. Our food came almost immediately after we ordered, and the service was very attentive. Even though one might think that the portions will be small based on the prices, they are most definitely not. The food is also quite good, especially the okonomiyaki. Overall, great food and service for a very good price.

We enjoyed some of the best sushi, sashimi, etc, a few days ago in The Fillmore. The servers were delightful and helpful, the variety of dishes and freshness of all the fish was surprising! Loved the interior too.

We went to this "Japanese Tapas" restaurant with friends who had traveled in Japan, as we have, and who also missed the tastes we had experienced there. We sat in a separate/isolated area, which initially felt odd, but once the food came we hardly took notice. Everything was very fresh and tasty! Some of the dishes were reminiscent of those we had overseas - especially the pickled vegetables and those plates made with their delicious miso - some completely different. Traditional floor tables can be requested. Note: Dishes come out of the kitchen haphazardly, so service is uneven.

We ate at Izakaya Kou before going to the movies at Kabuki in Japan town. The place has a hip atmosphere and cute little private rooms for parties of 6 or more. We ordered a combination of raw fish and sushi. It was all super tasty and fresh. And, because the kitchen was running late, they comp'ed us a dish. Great sake list too. Very good experience!
