Came here for the lunch specials.
Server took our orders; 5 orders total and 2 orders never came out. Server intentionally waited until after 3:30 to tell us our orders weren't coming out and they ran out of whatever we ordered (Lunch specials run until 3:30). The server proceeded to tell us we couldn't order from the lunch menu anymore. We disputed this with the manager, and they tried to gaslight us into thinking that we ordered after 3:30 when we ordered far before that (at around 2:50). Portions were super small and service was subpar. Because of the horrendous service, we tipped a minimal amount, mind you we still tipped for their horrible service. Manager came out and forced us to tip more before letting us leave. Then they had the audacity to tell us to have a great day and hoped that we enjoyed right to our faces after what they did. DO NOT COME HERE if you want a good Korean barbecue experience. There are far better deals you can get around KTown that are not only cheaper but also friendlier and better.
Be the first to ReplyWe came at 2:50 for the special lunch combos.
After ordering, we got most of our combos. But the two bibimbaps we ordered never came. We asked where they were and the waiter said he would go check. He came out at 3:30 and said there were no more bibimbaps. This is exactly when the lunch special ends and they refused to let us order from it even though we ordered earlier and it was their fault the bibimbap never came. This is completely unacceptable and says a lot about both the management at here. Afterwards, they even held us there for 18% tip I will not only never be coming here again but I will also be telling everyone I know to stay far away.

This restaurant is located on the upper floor of the building, and you need to go check in with the host first. Luckily, we went quite late ,so the wait was not very long. Having been to South Korea before, the restaurant has the same atmospheric vibe as those in Korea! The food was absolutely delicious, and we loved everything from here. The quality of meat was top-notch, and the side dishes and sauces were delicious as well. They have an excellent selection of alcoholic beverages. This place is one of our MUST-VISITS whenever we go to NYC.

We ordered pork belly, marinated kalbi, and brisket bean paste stew. The soup tastes better than all the BBQ meat. We should have just ordered some cooked dishes instead of raw meat for BBQ. Overall, for the first meal, I'll give a 6/10. Service and ambiance are alright.
Be the first to ReplyPretty good place.
The meat is top quality. Very tender. Little pricey but it's New York. One thing is they cook all meats too fast. Maybe because it's so busy. Trying to turn tables. But they don't rush you so it's fine. Very good service and the ambiance is nice. Luv they cook the steam egg on the table. Fresh and hot.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was pretty basic overall.
The assorted grilled intestines are not particularly something you can do wrong, other than if it were to be prepared incorrectly or not fresh, so that's like a given. Raw parts, grilled - as good as expected. Other dishes were all ok - nothing terrible but also nothing wow. BUT ... their service sucks. Our group all noticed and commented about the bad attitudes of the servers. Cannot stand for cold, half-hearted, blah service when paying customers are the entire point. From being seated to taking our order, the female employee (one of many so I can't quite describe who exactly) was just non-welcoming and blah. Followed by a guy who manned our grill for a good 10 minutes just making us all feel so uncomfortable with his attitude when we asked a few questions. Korean bbqs, or grilled foods where the servers hover over you to cook - is a very intimate space and service format - they really ought to be somewhat gracious so that the diners at the table don't feel suffocated by their presence. A server makes all the difference to the experience and ours were all noticeably unremarkable. Also hate that they bring a tablet to the table to handle your check - standing blatantly by as they watch you calculate and add tip while they hold the tablet judging you. And we're resident Koreans so per our culture if anything, they should have the 눈치 to be better. Won't be returning or recommending this spot. (Jongro in Flushing has a slightly different menu with a similar overall concept and their service is also hit or miss but overall, better.)

According to locals, Jongro BBQ is the best and the go-to spot in Koreatown, New York. I love Korean bbq so I knew I had to go check it out myself. The place was busy and I could tell it really was a popular restaurant If you don't know what to order, I recommend ordering the combos! The beef platter was perfect for my party. We enjoyed some brisket, ribeye, non-marinated short ribs and some marinated kalbi. I love all the sides the came with the combo platter, including the banchans, the corn cheese and steamed eggs. Though I enjoyed my meal, I can't say it's the best since I've only had been to one of many Korean bbq restaurant in Koreatown, New York so maybe you can decide for yourself!

Visited NY last weekend and this was my first meal after a 6 hour car ride. Really hit the spot, would recommend asking to be seated on the 5th floor to get the corn cheese. 2nd floor doesn't have it
Be the first to ReplyGreat quality of meats at this Korean bbq.
First one I've tried that wasn't unlimited meat and there is a huge difference in the quality. One of my favorite kbbq spots
Be the first to ReplyI hate having to give them a 3 but it's overly priced.
Not to say it's not good, it's authentic and definitely have its pros. However, the first time I came here I was to die for and I've been disappointed since. I just don't think the food is worth the money but that's also because I love very flavorful food. Won't say I don't recommend it.. but just not my jazz!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing experience, the servers are attentive and refilling
Amazing experience, the servers are attentive and refilling lettuce and dipping sauce without stopping, the meat is cooked per your request to best fit your habit, the combo platters are well arranged to give you a taste of everything. The steamed egg tastes unique and the meat is juicy and full of flavor, not greasy at all, I can eat them every day for dinner one month in a row without any complaints. The furnishing appears a bit aged however they were clean and kept enough spacing, even during the busy hours I don't find walking around too difficult. You may always want to get here before 6PM in order to avoid the crowd however even if you have to wait I would promise it is well worth your time.

I have been getting the name of this restaurant wrong for years! I always thought it was JUngro, which I think means the "right way" in Korean. But I was meeting some co-workers here for lunch and realized it is JOngro, which is not a Korean word I know. I think I like my version better because it would be an apt description of how they prepare their food. Although finding the right way in can be confusing because there are no signs telling you to take the elevator to the second floor.I went with their lunch special and got the kalbi/short rib (with co-workers so a little formal for my usual LA style) and cold noodle soup. With food prices going up, the lunch special is a pretty good deal! I douse the noodle soup in vinegar and mustard and the noodles and broth hold up well. The kalbi is tender and pretty flavorful although i could use a little more char and a little more flavor. For the lunch special, the meat is cooked in the kitchen so we miss out on the tabletop grilling but we also do not walk out with the BBQ smell on our clothes so perfect for a working lunch. There are probably only a couple of places where the BBQ is The decor is old school and the space is huge, and service was attentive. Definitely recommend this place if you are in the city.

Came here with my boyfriend after our earlier plans were canceled. I was very surprised when I arrived and it was super busy, clearly a popular place. Wait was about 45-50minutes for a Saturday night. Be sure to be on time for the reservation because it's only a 5 minute grace period. I missed my reservation by 3 minutes (I waited on the long line a bit before I skipped to the front) but they still accepted us which was nice of them.We got Seafood Tofu Soup (spicy) but it was so good and shareable for two. For dinner we got marinated chicken and shrimp (I don't eat red meat but if you are a meat lover they have several options). Each dish came with about 4 sides. Our waiter also cooked the food for us which was nice. For drinks I got Asian hard seltzer which was good & my boyfriend got a ginger ale.Overall I would def come back! And would recommend. Such a gem in k-town.
Be the first to ReplyGood food with great flavor.
Attentive service. A very vociferous environment. The kimchi was excellent! Recommend this experience if you enjoy good food in loud places.

Be the first to ReplyJongro is more upscale than your typical kbbq place.
We ordered the beef, marinated beef, mushroom, and pork sets and everything was so delicious and tender. The mushroom set was truly the star of the meal. Many kbbq places have you grill your own meat but at Jongro the server will do it for you so if you have grilling anxiety fret not! All the side dishes are deliciously prepared and service was top-notch even on a busy day. They also play k-pop on the speakers so if you're a fan of k-pop and kbbq, Jongro has it all!
Be the first to ReplyVisited from Philly and I'll miss our meal here dearly.
Party of 3 came on a weekday afternoon and didn't have any crowd like some others experienced. Ordered bean paste stew, 2 drinks, and a large beef platter. Just the right amount of food for us. I loved the sides so much. Fresh greens that went great with the meats. We need better kbbq in Philly like this. Service was great, they cook for you and were super attentive without being invasive on our meal. Interior was super nice as well. My friend was jamming out to the K-pop playing.

We did online reservation, waited for 20min when we got there then another 15min when we got called upstairs. Not bad since it was the day after Thanksgiving. Very nice atmosphere to hangout with friends for food and drinks. The seafood pancake was delicious. We got the large beef platter and they helped cook for us. Very attentive service. A tad more lighting would be appreciated. Since it's very busy and crowded with most people doing grills, you should have better ventilation with air circulation. It feels too warm and muggy.

Be the first to ReplyMy first Korean BBQ experience and Jongro set the bar high
My first Korean BBQ experience and Jongro set the bar high with great customer service and great food. Heard this place gets busy but it was a weekday afternoon so we took a chance (no reservation) and luckily It worked out. None of us knew what we were in for! LolIt's definitely a place to enjoy with a group because you can order multiple items and it's more than enough to share. For the meal We had the marinated chicken and the USDA prime kalbi steak. Both delish! We each had dipping sauces and extras like marinated onions, salad, and more to complete our plates. Our server cooked our meats for us and idk if that's custom or because it was our first time but she did a great job. Definitely better than I would have done. Ok now I'm sure that must have been customary to prevent wasting/burning meat and fires. I highly recommend also adding a side from their special menu. Again, it's definitely enough to share. We tried the glass noodles with vegetables, the deep fried dumpling, and the Spicy Octopus! All very yummy, but the standout was the Spicy Octopus! While yes it was enough to share, that was the one dish nobody wanted to share because it was so amazing! Yes I hear there are other Korean BBQ places around, I will definitely be going back to Jongro. This place was good to me and what's that saying.... You always remember your first!!!

Fun late night bbq and reasonably priced! Once you step inside you're in a fun ambiance where the delicious smell will get your mouth watering! I got the beef platter because I was with 2 other people in my party. It was just the right amount without being overwhelming full. The meat quality was pretty good not super tender but the side dishes were tasty! Good portions and refillable! The service was quick so even though we didn't have a reservation our wait time passed by fast!

Everything was so yum! We got the large beef combination platter with scallion pancakes on the side. My favorite was their prime ribeye; it was great wrapped in lettuce with rice and the other banchanThe pace of our dinner felt a bit rushed but understandable because they were very busy on a Saturday night
Be the first to ReplyGood food and service.
. banchan options could be better. Love the nod to 90s with throwback ambiance and mementos.
