The wait can be HORRIBLE - the food is EXCELLENT
We went here on the advice of locals - they were right! We went there shortly after midday and found a long line waiting to get in. We put our name on the list and grabbed a number and waited on the sidewalk outside like everyone else. It took 1.5 hour to get seated, a time that we would not have waited except for the reputation of the place. Inside the place is small you may end up sharing a table with others. We got roast suckling pig and roast goose, both were excellent. Crispy skins, moist tender meat, subtle spicings - it was great. Note that you are expected to eat and leave, not dawdle over your food and enjoy a table after eating. If you can, consider buying your food as take-out to avoid the extreme waits that occur here. But it really is good enough to put up with some aggravation for!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, super long wait
LONG wait. We waited 2 hours for a line that did not seem that long. Got on line at 1:45 p.m.; seated at 3:45. Small place. Delicious goose, roast pork. Is it worth the wait? there are probably other places where you get just as good food without waiting. But it was pretty darn good. Walked by the next day at 11 -- there was a short line waiting for it to open at 11:30. That's probably your best bet.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed Outlet - Kam's Roast Goose
Kam's Roast Goose, a 1-star Michelin food outlet was highly recommended for its roast goose. After having patronized the outlet, I personally felt that it is overrated. The food was not exceptional at all and when the food was brought out, it looks very ordinary nothing spectacular about its taste and the way it was being prepared. When we arrived at the outlet, there was already a long queue and we had to wait for more than an hour before getting our table. The table set up was so very cramp (hardly any space to move around) and very uneasy as we had to share with other diners as well. The environment has a kind of odour and an oily atmosphere that resembles a food court outlet. I would say cleanliness is questionable. However, surprisingly the roast goose was sold out by the time we get our table. We were fortunate to place an order while queuing up. There was hardly any other special choice of food other than the roast goose, barbecue pork and roast/steam chicken dishes. Even then, most of them were already sold out. In fact, we came specially for the roast goose which we heard so much of its specialty. It turns out to be very disappointing as compared to other outlets we have patronized. The service was also equally bad. The waiter and waitress seem to be too busy to really attend to your needs. Not very friendly and tactful as well. They do not have the patient to wait for our orders to be placed. Overall, the dinner we had in terms of the food ordered (including the roast goose) was not value for money. It was indeed a bad experience.
Be the first to ReplyWorth the hype and worth the wait!
THE GOOSE! This is what I was most excited to eat in Hong Kong and it did not disappoint. We went at lunchtime and waited about an hour to get seated. It's a very small place, so the wait really depends on how big the groups are. We were just 2 so we got to skip a couple of large parties who had to wait longer. The goose is amazing! We tried the pork too and it was also amazing. Put this on your HK bucket list!
Be the first to ReplyYou must LOVE roast goose
You must honestly like roast goose to come here as the line begins BEFORE it even opens. The restaurants opens at 1130am and when we arrived at 11, the line was at least 20 meters long! The goose is good and the establishment has got a good ambience. At least they treat guests with courtesy and not โchaseโ you, unlike Yat Lok which is a very terrible place to dine at.
Be the first to ReplyGave us discarded pieces when we ordered $330HKD half roast goose
They have us the burnt/discarded/fatty pieces. Went back to complain and the manager and waiter gaslit us into thinking we ate half the food already but as you can see they didnโt give us much to begin with. Took a photo of other peopleโs food and as you can see it looks much lighter and meatier than what we received
Be the first to ReplyMust visit whenever in Hong Kong
Excellent food coupled with super fast service. We frequent this place whenever we can and five star would be our usual review given the quality of food and speed of service. No frills and small cramp tables. Itโs NOT a romantic place but a simple, place for eating quality food. Obviously the signature roast goose is a must but all the roasts are excellent (char Sui, belly pork etc). The only drawback is the popularity - always have to queue even at less popular times (3pm) and the limited vegetable dishes (often one) but always good. Love this place. We will always return. Fabulous.
Be the first to ReplyRoast Goose Deliciousness
Delicious roasted goose. I can see why this restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star. The goose is flavorful if not a little greasy but that only adds to the flavor.
Be the first to ReplyJuicy roast goose, couldn't dine in so had to "da pao"
During our recent visit to Hong Kong we made two attempts to eat at the famous Kam's Roast at Hennessey Road. The first time we visited, we followed the short queue outside the restaurant and was told later they had sold out all the roast meat. The second time was the day after the major rainstorm, we were so thrilled to see that the restaurant was opened and lots of empty tables in there. The manager then told us we could only order takeaway as the wait staff didn't report to work due to the black storm warning. So we "da pao" one roast goose back to our hotel, which is nearby. The goose meat was sweet and juicy. It was excellent. It's a pity we couldn't dine in to try the other dishes.
Be the first to ReplyBest Roast Goose
The roast goose with noodle soup was crispy and tender. The century egg and ginger condiment was so good. It came with a free soup. This was one of the best roast goose I have ever had. Excellent value for a Michelin star.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent. Well worth the effort to queue.
This roast goose is by far the best I had ever tasted in Hong Kong. The goose meat was juicy and tasty. The skin was crispy. The roast Char Siu was also delicious. Overall, the meal was well worth the effort to get and stand in-line for the queue. I will definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyStill the best roast goose restaurant in town
We returned to this famous one star Michelin Roast Goose restaurant in Wan Chai, Hong Kong after several years. Since you can't reserved a table we arrived early thinking there will be a queue but to our surprised a table of 4 were available. It's not as busy as before, it seems the pandemic have affected the business. We ordered several dishes included the juicy Roast Goose and roast pork, we were not disappointed. The place looks a bit dated and a refurbishment is needed, the old ceiling mounted air conditioning unit was leaking onto our table of which my friend have to move his seat to avoid being hit with water.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic - validated by the โold timerโ
My 92-year old father-in-law was so happy we introduced him to this place. โAuthentic, just like Yung Kee used to beโ. If you donโt know what Yung Kee is, read about the history of this place. Father-in-law used to dine there at least once a week in the 70โs and 80โs. Donโt expect pristine white table cloths or any of the decor normally associated with Michelin Star restaurants. This place is basic. But service was excellent, especially by front of house host Eva. Father-in-law is already talking about a next trip.

Be the first to ReplyBest roast duck
As michelin 1 star guarantee, you won't disappoint it. Everything is good, and roast duck is the best dish for me. Good taste ever.
Be the first to ReplyWorst of all Kamโs restaurants - need new supervision chef.
We had following for two people: 1. Plate of suckling pig - skin ok but not great and some of attached meat was actually tough and chewy! 2. Roast duck and char siu pork over rice - Same item in cheap Bangkok China town eateries would actually be better; and 3. Shrimp dumpling soup - tasteless dumpling with soup made probably from Knor soup cubes and the whole shrimp was actually tough in texture. Amazingly poor in ingredient quality and cooking, But the rice was well cooked and tasty and the service was attentive. . By the way, the early Kam Michelin stars displayed on the restaurant shop front were awarded for its excellent roast goose in Kam Roast in Hong Kong but goose are not available in its Singapore and Bangkok branches- โ should the stars be displyed? Question for Michelin itself!

Be the first to ReplyThe roast goose
Founded by the third generation of Yung Kee's Kam family, this Michelin-starred small eatery serves one of the best roast gooses in the city. Kam's Roast Goose has long been a must for tourists, especially those from China and Taiwan. While a long queue is expected during normal days, an early lunch will be a more pleasant option. Price is surprisingly quite modest. The signature goose is definitely unparalleled in the city. The skin is crispy and meat juicy and succulent. Seasoning is not excessive. Noodle with goose oil is aromatic. Despite of the often long waiting time, this place is well worth it.
Be the first to ReplyBest Takeaway Iโve ever had ๐
Well where on earth can you find a Michelin star takeaway?? This was the only place I have ever found one and it was absolutely incredible.... we spent ยฃ60 on a takeaway and it was worth every penny. Literally mouth watering goose with noodles and some goose gravy or something. Seriously worth a visit! Eating roast goose then watching the fireworks on New Yearโs Eve with a bottle of
Worth the Wait
I arrived 15mins before the restaurant opened and still I had a 25mins wait. Once it opens, it moves quickly. Once inside, you notice how small and cramped it is. Try to have a minimum of 2 in your party or it is uncomfortable.
For me, the quality of the goose is great - tender and lean. Older generations, prefer more fat. Even the bbq pork is lean. Portions are smaller and more expensive than most, but I enjoyed the flavours. Appetisers like the eggs and beaks are interesting.
Amazing Pork Dishes!!
The place is well known for roast goose but the thing is I'm not a big fan of goose. Luckily for me, they are famous for their pork dishes as well. I had bbq pork belly and fried pork belly which were very good. It was better than the ones that I had in other shops. It was so good that I visited place everyday during my visit to Wan Chai. Keep in mind that good food attracts many people. This place is really packed most of the time and you can even see people waiting in line outside the shop during lunch hours. If you want to avoid the crowd, you can visit here around 3PM or since they provide takeout food containers, you can pickup your food and eat it elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyJustifiably famous!
Normally there is a huge queue outside this restaurant but I was able to get a seat right away today: weekdays before 12 during Covid times are often like that in HK! Anyway, the goose here is the best Iโve ever had, even compared to other famous local eateries. The BBQ pork is also delicious and the sweet sauce they provide to adorn the meat and rice means that it all stays moist throughout, even with limited side veg. Another lovely surprise was the soup, included in the meal deal, which was awash with pork and carrots and tasted great! Service was very friendly and incredibly swift: I had my food within minutes of sitting down, plus itโs a much posher, traditional place than its competitors in terms of decor. Currently, this place sits at the top of places I have had Cantonese BBQ and it will take a LOT to dislodge it!
Be the first to ReplyDo not over expect
Even the signature roast goose or barbecue pork, both were bland and plain, the sauce are not special and the price are expensive, you can find higher standard in Wan Chai.
Be the first to ReplyRightfrog adventures at Kam's Roast Goose
I was really lucky to join Rightfrog Productions on their adventures to try the best eateries in HK when they came in April 2015. The third stop was Kam's Roast Goose where we stopped by for roast goose obviously.
The goose was very velvety with a bitter aftertaste hence the need for the sweet plum sauce to balance it.
