Great decor, excellent "Japanese Italian fusion" food on dinner "special"
Stumbled on restaurant first night; went back again second night. The decor is fabulous, with ever changing scenes projected on walls. Special menu is price ok at $40 for three courses. Loved tuna/avocado rolls and fig/cheese ravioli and shrimp risotto. Apparently most people eat on the late side here. Not a complaint: the food is more Japanese and Italian rather than Japanese Italian fusion.

we went here Miami spice and I was quite surprised that I had not heard of it before because it was excellent. Everything we had was delicious. The tuna roll. The Fig and cheese ravioli. The octopus great too. i read some negative reviews but the people that said it was overpriced and mediocre have no taste!
Be the first to ReplyOverall not worth but the food was OK
Let me start the review the wagyu beef was excellent. Under Chefs specialties the first items was the wagyu Filet which they were out of, how is that even possible! Went with the wagyu rib eye, was great as you would expect from wagyu beef. My friend got the regular bone in rib eye, asked for it RARE it was WELL OVER medium and VERY thin! The service here was terrible. Honestly when you are paying the price you are here you expect great over the top service, defiantly not even close. The waiter didnโt speak enough English that we had trouble communicating. Our water glasses were constantly empty, we would have to call someone over to fill them. We got large bottles of ice teas, the waiter did not fill them up once. Bottom line, if you are simply looking for a place to have wagyu beef and you donโt expect anything else you will be ok here but I would prefer to find somewhere else. The reserve wine list is a JOKE, they have bottles on the menu for almost a MILLION, yes a MILLION that you can find online for $7,000! ALSO they specialize in steak and do not have any Cabernet by the glass and ONLY one by the bottle.

Trying to find a meal, stumbled across the colorful exterior decor. Upon entering the ambience of the motion pictures around you quickly grabbed your attention and added a nice ambience while dining. Food was delicious as well as my cocktail! Would visit again! Also, an appetizer was served in a shoe!

Since Kaori opened I have walked by it multiple times, and curious about the concept I decided to walk in.
When you first step in, you will be walking into a truly unique experience, with an atmosphere that varies throughout the night. The restaurant has projectors aimed at the walls with different scenes projecting throughout your meal, making this a truly unique aspect (for better or for worst).
After looking at the menu, and seeing such a wide array of options, in order to truly experience this restaurant I ordered the Chef Menu ($85). Throughout the Prix-fixe menu you will be able to try a bit of each of the segments of the menu.
Each of the plates that was served is very carefully crafted and presented. Each ingredient that you find on a plate is there for a specific purpose, and the unique combination of these ingredients make each bite a wonderful experience for your taste buds.
In addition, the service was spotless, the server(chef?) made sure everything is perfect from the drinks to explaining each of the dishes that was being served.
My only issue with Kaori is the price. Having tried other restaurants at this price range, the experience did not live up to my expectations, even though the food is indeed good.
Overall, I would recommend Kaori as a place to celebrate special occasions and indulge yourself in a food experience.
Alice in Wonderland
I had passed by this small restaurant many times thinking it could be a gem. Disney like in its colorful decor and shapes of furniture lit was right out of an animation. From entry, however, we no longer needed to wonder about Wonderland.
The polite hostess greeted us and asked us to follow her. We did; but instead of stopping at a table, she continued to the restroom with our group following. When she exited, "our table" was almost ready.
The electronic menu functioned beautifully showing a half dozen appetizers and an equal number of entrees. The pictures were sharp, but hardly demonstrated what was to come. How could they, we were in Wonderland. The soggy sashimi was covered with a cheese sauce right out of a party at which you arrive so late that all that is left is the remnants of a crab dip. All the "hot appetizers" were tepid and the cold ones about the same. Telling one from the other was difficult. Perplexed, our group wondered what was what? Did we really order this or that? In truth, it hardly mattered. Smile, pay the bill and leave Wonderland shaking your head.
Service consisted of a polite waiter who dropped occasionally to leave unrecognizable dishes anywhere on the table there was an opening....and ultimately the bill. Fortunately, we did not order any of the several bottles of wine priced above $500,000 (you read it right), but selling on the wine market at a fraction. Silly? Remember, this is Wonderland. Prices would not have been exorbitant unless you expect to be able to eat the food. An experience? A one and only in Wonderland.
Pretentious, Expensive and Tacky
It was well ranked so we went for New Years. We ended up paying 700 dlls for a 3 people dinner with 2 bottles of average wine. It was not just really expensive.... it was a SCAM. The food was just ok or flavorless, and small portions. The restaurant lacks of ambiance, totally frivolous, pretentious and tacky. The only good thing was the service with our Italian server, he got the only green for the restaurant.

Had dinner with family on a Friday night, our reservation was for 7:30. Parking was no hassle across the street. Upon arrival we were the only ones there which I found really odd on a Friday night. Two hours later, only one other table had been filled. The ambiance was neat, with projections surrounding you. We opted for the luxury chef tasting at $125 per person. Unfortunately everyone gets the exact same food, I wish it was more personalized. Started with the chef's version of sushi which was very good, followed by vegetable tempura, also good. Then sorbet, risotto followed by dessert. All very good but not exactly filling. Felt a bit expensive. As we were the only ones there for several hours, a visit from chef would've been nice. Overall a neat restaurant but probably wouldn't return.
