Kettners is in the Soho House family; I visited the Champagne Bar on the ground floor with a group at around 11:30 PM on a weeknight. Not much to report other than that I had the Eastern Standard cocktail, which was solid. Ambiance is very nice.

97/10- actually really enjoyed this, it had a strong coffee flavor which made the alcohol taste barely there. Pretty frothy as well, wish it wasn't THIS frothy, but very smooth and overall pretty great. Expresso martinis all around also apart of the Soho House which is chill
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for being a guest at the hotel.
I've been a member for a number of years now and have never stayed at a House. The experience was truly delightful. I stayed in the smallest sized room and it felt larger and had a better orientation than the larger room my parents stayed in. The rooms come equipped with absolutely anything you might need. Adapters, chargers, free wash/fold, cookies (free), coffee, tea, and toiletries of all kinds. The staff were so friendly and helpful, which really is the antithesis of the staff I've experienced at all the NY and LA locations. That being said, the restaurant still messed up our orders and forgot things, which is pretty typical of my experiences with the Houses. That being said, I'll definitely come back to stay!

Happy to be staying with a soho house property
Be the first to ReplyKettners claims to be a nice establishment that serves good
Kettners claims to be a nice establishment that serves good Champagne. They do indeed have a good champagne list, but they are not at all a nice establishment. In fact, they are downright thuggish. My husband and I and another couple planned to go for some champagne. My husband had to run a quick errand beforehand, so the other couple and I went ahead to get a table and order. When we arrived, the door staff was downright patronizing in the way they asked about "how are the ladies?" The bouncer demanded my ID and also the ID of the other woman, but not of her male partner. They looked us up and down in a very leering and creepy way, not a way that felt like standard door security. I'm 35 years old. It was sexist, demeaning, and inappropriate treatment. Still, we went in and ordered a bottle of Champagne because our friend really likes Kettners and wanted to show it to us. Bad idea. Soon, my husband arrived and Kettners' full thuggishness came on display. The bouncer asked him several times why he was here. He explained that he was meeting his wife and friends, who already had a table. The bouncer said OK, but then as he walked in to meet us, he grabbed my husband's arm and tried to throw him to the floor. He then pulled our friend aside and started interrogating him, saying he didn't believe my husband was part of our group, despite all three of us saying that he was. He rudely asked how long our friend had known my husband (which is none of his business, but eight years - which he said he didn't believe, for some incomprehensible reason). Any establishment that treats customers this way is not a good establishment. I don't care how good their Champagne list may be (and frankly there are plenty of places in Soho with excellent drink lists that do not behave this way). There is no good reason for this thuggish, ridiculous behavior.

Kettner's originally opened in 1867 by August Kettner, who was rumored chef to Napoleon 111. It was one of the first French restaurants in London. It's also said that King Edward VII courted his mistress, actress Lillie Langtry here. There's a beautiful piano bar and champagne bar when you first enter kettner's. It's a french menu that uses locally sourced ingredients for the dishes. There's not much to say about this place besides the fact that it's absolutely amazing and beautiful. What makes your stay even that much better, is the customer service and the willingness of the staff to go above and beyond for their customers. It was my first time here and it definitely won't be my last. Although I'm not quite sure if a Soho House membership is required, I encourage anyone to stay here. It's in the heart of the cutest town in London, with AMAZING restaurants all around. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!!!

My teenage daughter and I went to Kettner's for a special late lunch in the afternoon. They made us feel so welcome and special. It was mid afternoon so it was half full. The food was wonderful and the ambiance spectacular. The room had an enormous flower arrangement in the middle and the ceiling above was spectacular. We shared a couple of things. The smoked leeks were so interesting and yummy. Very unusual. We will be trying to mimic this at home. We also got lamb chops. Yum. So good. Not too fatty and grilled to perfection.
Be the first to ReplyStayed with them for six nights and found food and service
Stayed with them for six nights and found food and service hit or miss. Accommodations are small but lovely. I had a beef filet one eve at bar that was tough and over-cooked. They lost my laundry and dry cleaning; was massively delayed forcing me to wear dirty clothes one day. There were other instances when Townhouse staff did not know what was going on with restaurants and what they were serving at various times of the day. I would give them more time to try and fix the details before rushing to stay. Nothing offered to compensate me for the various experiences. Kristina was lovely and tried to address my concerns but overall they have some work to do as a team.
Be the first to ReplyWe made a 530pm reservation before seeing Les Miserable.
We walked in and we were the only ones there (thought it was closed!) They seated us at a corner table near the window. It was perfect. We did the dinner and show special and everything was delicious. But the MAIN highlight, my first taste of Sticky Toffee Pudding. Since I have never been to London before I thought pudding was the one that Bill Cosby used to be a spokesperson for back in the 80s and 90s...Not this one. It is a cake really rich and moist and it was served with a side of vanilla custard. I have never tasted anything so amazing! You HAVE to try this. We had really great service through our meals. The waiter and all the staff were very attentive and sweet. We hope to go back on our next trip.

We had dinner reservations at Kettners as it was my birthday and we wanted a nice meal after our show. Things started off fine at the bar, as this is where you wait until the dining area opens for dinner. Now let's get to the good part once seated we decided on the lobster Mac and cheese and the salmon for starters - since we were starving we put in our starters to look over the menu for our main course - well apparently this is not customary because the server looked at us like we were crazy and then confused me as I could not understand what he was saying- now yes we are in a different country but I have had better conversations with servers in countries where ENGLISH is not the spoken language. It didn't get easier from there, they brought another tables meal to our table and then left and came back before taking the meal to the correct table, ewwwww why would not at least pretend and take the food to the back before giving it to its rightful recipients Our food came and for a £30 steak with £2.50 red wine sauce, I was absolutely underwhelmed- I've had better cuts of steak at less than half the price - my biggest gripe with this restaurant is the language barrier, I mean the menu is in English and I'm reading it to you but you don't understand what I'm saying - I personally won't visit again, the lobster Mac and cheese was the only thing I enjoyed
