My recent visit to Kitchen & Cocktails was an absolute
My recent visit to Kitchen & Cocktails was an absolute delight, an experience so rich and satisfying that it beckons a detailed recount. From the moment I stepped into the chic, vibrantly designed space, I knew I was in for a treat. The atmosphere struck a perfect balance between elegance and comfort, with a lively buzz that suggested a favorite spot among locals and visitors alike. Starting with the cocktails, the mixologists at Kitchen & Cocktails exhibited true artistry. I indulged in a signature cocktail that was a masterful blend of flavors, striking a harmonious balance between sweet, sour, and bitter, with a hint of botanicals to elevate the experience. It wasn't just a drink but a storytelling session in each sip, encapsulating the essence of the establishment's commitment to unique, memorable concoctions. The appetizer set the stage for what was to come; a delectable crab cake, lightly crisped on the outside while succulent and flavorful inside, sitting atop a bed of delicately dressed greens. The crab was the star, fresh and tender, perfectly seasoned to enhance its natural flavors without overwhelming them. Moving on to the main course, I was torn between the myriad of enticing options but finally settled on a recommendation from our exceptionally attentive and knowledgeable server: the braised short ribs. This dish was a revelation, with meat so tender it parted with the mere suggestion of a fork, paired with a rich, velvety sauce that spoke of hours of careful, loving preparation. Accompanied by a side of perfectly roasted vegetables and smooth, creamy mashed potatoes, each bite was a comforting embrace of flavors and textures. Not to be overlooked, the dessert was a triumphant finale to an already impressive meal. The chocolate lava cake, with its molten center flowing like culinary gold, was paired with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, creating a contrast that was both bold and divine. The service at Kitchen & Cocktails was impeccable throughout the evening, with staff members who were not only efficient but genuinely passionate about ensuring a fantastic dining experience. Their recommendations were spot-on, reflecting a deep understanding of the menu and a desire to cater to our dining preferences. Kitchen & Cocktails is not just a restaurant; it's a destination, offering a symphony of flavors, an atmosphere of warm conviviality, and service that's second to none. It's a place where each visit promises not just a meal, but an experience to be savored and remembered.
Be the first to ReplyAll in all, this was a good dining experience.
The atmosphere was moderately loud, but not too distracting. Everyone was attentive and the service was great. Our waitress was very accommodating and offered her faves off the menu. Mac and cheese, yum. Candied yams, another yum. Collard greens, super yum. The catfish was fried to perfection. I would definitely visit again to sample more from the menu. Be prepared to spend $$$

*sigh* I've made many many attempts and given grace and still it didn't meet my expectations. My friend decided to have his birthday dinner here and he had a part of about 15 or 16. We had to wait until majority of the party was present to be seated and we waited in the downstairs area so we were not standing in the way. We were seated and everything started off well. There were two waiters for our table I believe or maybe she just spilt the table 8 and 8 so it was easier to take the orders. I ordered everything again once but J started with the black magic drink. The drink came pretty fast, but let me tell you how SWEET this drink was. It felt like diabetes in a cup. You couldn't taste the gin, but if they added actual gin to the juice I had it would've been great. Others said their drink was either too sweet or it was decent. I also ordered the deviled eggs with blackened shrimp and the fried catfish. The waiter came back and asked what my door was to be sure she had it in the system correctly. My deviled eggs came fast and I was SHOCKED, I just knew they were working for a great review from me. Catfish came and it was fried very well and it wasn't too breaded at alll, it was quite delicious. It was PACKED on this Saturday night, but the DJ was bumping all type of tunes. It was a vibe. We took pictures all around because the ambiance is always nice here. It was VERY loud though so just keep that in mind, but it didn't bother me. People enjoyed their food some things were returned or some people didn't get what they asked for. Now the moment we are all waiting for....the check! We received the check and my friend's sister was reviewing what we all got. We were planning to spilt the check and most of us brought cash so we wouldn't have to deal with any issues. The check however was I correct and some of the meals and drinks were not removed. We asked for it to be removed but the waiter said, "the table was already cleared, so she can't take our word that we didn't order the items that should be removed". I wish this made sense, but it didn't. We had a manager get involved to remove the items and update our check. Resolving this took about 30 mins or so. We just sat there waiting while they figure out what the issue was. After having the explain this to a few more people we finally got an updated check and paid the bill. They decided to give us all a slushy shot for the inconvenience. At this time half of us were over it, I'm sorry, but this was enough for me not to return. I didn't have a great experience the first time I tried this restaurant and then this was the icing on the cake. I truly won't be returning, the service we received regarding the check was not handled professionally at all.

I usually try to stay clear of Tik Tok/IG restaurants and this one proves why. I couldn't picture this place but once I saw it's where Toro Toro used to be, I understand how they had space for a club lounge downstairs. In terms of esthetics, it hits the mark for photographable social media places complete with a flowered wall. I believe they have valet parking but I found parking on the street. Given the upscale tone the restaurant had been promoting, I thought we might be a tad underdressed in regular knit tops/sweaters and jeans but once inside I saw we were overdressed compared to some. I saw slinky dresses, hoodies and boots, athletic wear and everything in between including an entire bare bottom since this girl's skirt didn't cover it. We sat at the bar and ordered food and drinks. The fish I ordered tasted good but was overpriced and came with plastic cutlery although I was told by staff this was "fine dining". I was also encouraged by staff to refrain from, literally, shimmying my shoulders in my seat because dancing was not aloud in the "fine dining" restaurant although Sexxy Red was playing. The reason this review is getting 2 stars is because of our bartender, Donesha. She was AMAZING and the only reason I'd ever return. Her drinks saved the day. She kept us engaged and was highly attentive although the bar was packed. Her professionalism made up for the otherwise lackluster experience. If I ever go back, she'd better be at work.

5. Food: score of 3 out of 5. The food was good but it wasn't good enough to leave a memory. It was well seasoned. I just feel like it wasn't anything to leave you wanting more or to crave going back to K&K. The drinks were overpriced for what was received. They were good though. I just feel like you can get the same amount of alcohol for less elsewhere. Service: 1.5 out of 5. We were seated right away. However we barely saw the waitress. There were significant periods of time in which we wouldn't see her and often wondered when she would be back to take an order or if we needed something. Ambiance: too many flower walls. To be frank, I'm over the flower wall scene. The type of music played was great, however, it was extremely loud for dinner spot and had to talk loudly to have any type of conversation with the person I was with. Loved the valet parking option.

This was a great brunch spot on a Sunday, we were celebrating our friends bday! The drinks were flowing and the food was banging! There was a live DJ and we danced and had a great time. There was 2 floors we were seated on lower level and the bartender was also our server she took great care of us, we will definitely be going back.

This place is not for dates!!!! We were sat downstairs and the dj is playing the music like it's the club... people are trying to have conversations and can't hear each other. We had to tell the waiter to lower the music down so we can hear each other. The food was a little salty for me but it was good. I have the two stars for the great service and fast drinks. I did come with my girls for brunch and had a good time upstairs music still too loud but we got the frozen margaritas and was amazing for the prize and size.
Be the first to ReplyI wish i could have given this place more than 3 stars but
I wish i could have given this place more than 3 stars but alas, I have to be completely honest. I came to the DC location with some pre-conceived notions based on my experience in Dallas (WAY TO SALTY TO BE EDIBLE). Came here on a Saturday night as part of a girl's weekend from out of town. Thankfully there was plenty of street parking so we didnt have to walk too far. Came in and waited a few minutes to be seated at our table. My girlfriend reserved a special table and had to pay extra for that table but it wasnt the table they sat us at. They said they would credit her back for the table. Service - Our waitress was attentive as the place was quite busy due to it being a Saturday night. She was courteous and friendly. Ambiance- this is quite big with a waiting area, bar area and different seating area. There is a downstairs but not sure what that looks like. Theres of course beautiful red flowers wall down the stairs with great lighting for pictures. There's always a wall by the front to take pics with the restaurant signage. All in all, very nice ambiance for a celebration food- we order salmon bites and fried cauliflower for appetizer. The bites and cauliflower was average, but the accompanied sauce was good. As part of the order, we ordered the following: Jerk lambs and fried - fries were shoestring and good, lamb was a tad dry and overcooked for me short braised ribs- friend really enjoyed them salmon salad was good K&K vegan bowl - two of my friends ordered this dish and was quite concern with a "sour smell", though it may have been vinegar from collard greens, they deemed it inedible and request for it to be returned Pork chops, collard green and mac & cheese - the pork chops were good, but mac & cheeses was tasteless and soupy Drinks - ordered the frozen dussey ($37) and some Patron margaritas ($37) and they were really good. it was a good size PRICE _ OMG!!!!! Not worth the price. Who charges $42 for 4 pieces of small lamb chops and NO SIDES!!!!!!

Having been to the Dallas location multiple times, I expected a better experience. DC K&K is subpar. Customer service and atmosphere is below acceptable. Waitress had order wrong. 2t times Waited 20 mins for a piece of pie. Shrimp and Grits was cold and you have an enormous 20% per person service charge..terrible idea for a Birthday dinner. We will not recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyBest drinks! Food was good and nice atmosphere.
Wait staff was very professional and accommodating even with the restaurant being super busy!
