Celebrated my 41st birthday here and had a great time with my fiancรฉ. We are grateful that we were able to be served despite not having a reservation. We were treated very well by our server Josiah. I love the decor and ambiance. The food was delicious. The drinks that I got were ok. We parked in the garage, which cost 7. I would go back and definitely recommend to check out this restaurant. Oh, and going to restroom is getting the VIP treatment. Don't forget your cash to tip.

Great after dinner spot! (Okay, you should come for dinner, but I did not se this place until after) it has a very cool Asian vibe!! SERVICE: The bartender was very nice and friendly and talked me into "after dinner" food. Thats a keeper!! FOOD: I had the soup dumplings and the rainbow roll.....very yummy and tasty!! If you are downtown near Deep Ellum or staying at the Kimpton....definitely give this place a try!!

Visiting Komodo was a great time, when you walk in, you're immediately immersed in Asian decor and the restaurant's above par hospitality. The experience you receive while dining is priceless. Several waiters ask how everything was, not a detail is overlooked, i kid you not. I had the Surf and Turf Maki for an appetizer, and it was delicious, with a great combo of acidity plus the umami wagyu. Then i had the ox tail chow fun, which was definitely not what I expected in a good way. Perfect portions of ox tail braised mixed throughout fresh flat pasta and veggies, with just the right amount of sauce. It had a little spice kick to it, too. Then i also had a cocktail called the Thai Mai Tai, and it was divine, they are definitely not selfish with the liquor. Overall, i enjoyed the experience and I would definitely go again!
Be the first to ReplyMy boyfriend and I signed up for the sushi making class.
First off, the class started late. Second, the first 10 minutes were with some guy advertising sake. I couldn't tell you. what he said about it because we were all in a space where only those in the front could see the instructor/hear anyone speaking. When I let the manager know that we couldn't hear anything (seriously, the set up is ridiculous), he joked that the sake guy could come repeat his presentation for us personally. No apologies or acknowledgement of the fact that they set this up horribly. After the sake guy finished, we gathered around a sushi chef and were instructed on how to "make" two rolls. This is the second sushi class I've taken in my life, and I can assure you that with this class you don't MAKE anything. They give you precut cucumber, pre-measured spicy tuna, rice and the roller and simply place everything on the seaweed then roll. There is not soy sauce or sesame seeds on all stations so you have to walk to other people's stations and walk back to yours with a spoonful of what you need. The Omakase doesn't start until almost. 2 hours after class. does, and requires you to go sit at a table and order, which is not true Omakase. All of this for only... $260. Save your money if you REALLY want to learn how to make sushi and either go to Sur le Table or YouTube. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE SUSHI. The class is only for people who want to take Instagram and Tiktok videos for likes. BEYOND disappointed. Total ripoff.
Be the first to ReplyI've been to Komodo 4 times now.
Last night I had the unfortunate pleasure of being served by the brunette female bartender again. She doesn't have an ounce of hospitality in her. She doesn't check on you, you have to ask her to do everything, and she's constantly on her cell phone. She forgot to put in my spring roll appetizer and then tried to belittle me that I didn't understand how long things take to cook. The spring rolls were ordered first and my other appetizer and sushi rolls came out 20 minutes before I inquired about the spring rolls. Everyone makes mistakes but to make your customer feel stupid is not cool. The food is pretty good and the restaurant is beautiful. But the majority of the weight staff is pretty bad while they last night the bar back and another server were complaining about how they couldn't wait to leave. It's really tacky to behave this way in front of guests. I wished they could up their service because it has a lot of potential to do well..

WHAT I ORDERED: Money Bag dumplings, Soup dumplings, Daring Chicken Dan Dan, King Crab Lo Mein, Sizzling Black Pepper Beef, Ox Tail Chow Fun, Crispy Mala Potato, Surg & Turf Fried Rice, Fortunes Told Cocktail, Pikachu Cocktail PARKING: Paid Valet, Street Parking, Parking Ramp INSIDE: The entrance inside the restaurant is spacious and you can see the chefs through the glass windows. The dรฉcor was pretty and service was great. The bathrooms are down a long hallway. Would recommend coming here more so for the ambiance than the food. Also, would only go here for a celebration of some sorts. THE FOODS/DRINKS: The two cocktails I tried were tasty but nothing that truly stood out. As for the foods, the dishes I enjoyed were the King Crab Lo Mein, Sizzling Pepper Beef (tender), Surf & Turf Fried Rice. The dumplings were alright and the noodles in the Ox Tail Chow Fun were too al dente for my liking. While most of the food was good, considering the portion sizes and price point, it's overpriced in my eyes.

I dined on 2/2 which happened to be their re-opening night after having to shut down for a month due to broken pipes. I got food poisoning from my dinner. If I had to guess it was either the quail or the brussels. I reached out to the business via email but received no response. Potential diners, consider yourselves warned!
