Amazing!
This was an amazing spot. The food was delicious, the staff extremely accommodating and the view was gorgeous. We started off with chilled champagne and had an incredible meal. This was a very special Anniversary for us and the Staff made it incredible. I would definitely visit this restaurant if In Positano.
Be the first to ReplyGood, not great!
Beautiful spot! Restaurant was gorgeous. Yet, food and service not worth the cost. Portions were small, food tasty yet not phenomenal , and service was spotty, here then gone for awhile, and restaurant was not busy at all. The music visiting the tables was a nice touch. The women’s restroom was impressive. Overall ambiance was spot on!
Be the first to ReplyThey exceed the HYPE - very good, excellente'
La Sponda is wow! They are number one and they know it. White jackets, table service, multiple bars, and a main dining room. Food is outstanding. They have music entertainment walking around table to table to serenade you, beautiful views, everyone is dressed up and looking good, dress to impress! We went full throttle , caviar, carpaccio, risotto, cachio Pepe, and more. They live up to their reputation and service. Very hard to get a reservation. Good luck and enjoy
Be the first to ReplyNot worth it
In a town with no shortage of excellent restaurants, La Sponda did its best to not fit in. Other than the bread, the rest of the food was simply not good. We got a variety of pasta and seafood dishes and each one disappointed. The seafood crudo had pieces of fish that were slimy in texture. The pasta and risotto dishes were undercooked well below Al dente. And the fish main course we ordered was tough and chewy like an over cooked piece of chicken. We’re from New York City and have eaten at many high end Italian restaurants both in NY and here in Positano and this was undoubtedly not worth the trip or the cost.
Be the first to ReplyNot good.
The best part of this meal was the free bread and olive oil. The servers were wonderful but the food was not. Local spots in positano blew each dish out of the water. The pasta and risotto were beyond under cooked- beyond Al dente (I didnt even know this was possible), the flavors were lack luster and the fish we ordered was dense. Overall go to Franco's (their bar) for delicious drinks. Skip the meal at La sponda.

Hands down one of, if not the best restaurant in Positano. The staff are all professionals and super knowledgeable. The presentation of the dishes are just WOW. The scenery is there. The live music is actually good and not annoying like many other places. It was my significant other’s birthday and I preordered a cake for her. Let me tell you this cake tasted like it was made by God himself. 100% going back if you are from a major city in America and actually go out to eat you at real restaurants this place is where you belong.
Be the first to ReplySmall Portions, Average Food, Sky High Prices
We ate dinner here during our 6 night stay at Le Sirenuse. I was torn on 3 or 4 stars but ultimately gave a 4 based off the staff and the other food I ate while at the hotel. The food was overall pretty good but the astronomical prices really made me judge it harder. We have eaten all over and paid super high prices for meals. When the food is amazing I don't ever talk about the price, but the food at La Sponda was not amazing. For appetizers, we had seared tuna with white beans and greens beans, as well as the grilled squid with lentils. For entrees, we had the "whole" chicken al diavlo and zucchini cream with clams and razor clams. Aside from the chicken which was delicious, everything else was just average. But what was even worse than the average food for the in no way average prices (even for Positano) was the size of the plates. They were the smallest portions I had ever seen. The "whole" chicken was 4 little pieces of chicken. And the zucchini cream with clams was about 4 spoons of zucchini cream with 2 regular clams and 1 razor clam. It was so crazy, my friend and I just kept laughing about it. I don't even know how many hundreds of dollars we spent on one dinner, but we definitely left hungry. On a positive note, the lemon spritz is great (at a price of about $30.00 though).
Be the first to ReplyAn utterly amazing dining experience at La Sponda...don't miss it!
We had an utterly amazing dining experience at La Sponda - Le Sirenuse's restaurant was one of the most beautiful restaurants I've had the pleasure of visiting in a number of stunning spots in the world. The view outside and the plants & vines inside accentuate the décor but as the sun went down and the sky darkened, another show begins as you realize that all the light in the restaurant is coming from candles. Candelabras along with candles on the tables help to set the romantic feel. Although it can sometimes be "hokey", two musicians - one with a mandolin and one with a guitar were anything but and made another great background statement as the pair roamed table to table during the evening. Most importantly, the service, drinks, wine and the star of the show; the food itself were on par with the experience - a rare combination to find every cylinder firing at once. Thank you, La Sponda, for just that!
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite dinners in Positano!
I’ve been to Positano 3 times and the first two times I wasn’t able to get a table at La Sponda, as they are fully booked daily. But the third time I made sure to book reservations well in advance. I also have to mention how kind and sweet the online concierge was. They got back to me quickly and made sure to answer all my questions and did the best they could with my table request. The food is delicious! Not the biggest of portions but you are paying for the care and quality of the dishes. The service is beyond great. Such amazing care for their customers. They are very attentive and will do their best to make your dining experience wonderful. The view is stunning, I cannot express that enough. I spent almost my entire evening watching the sunset. I definitely recommend La Sponda! I went three times during my trip! I will be for sure coming back when I visit Positano again!
Be the first to ReplyVery Disappointing
My wife and I ate here at the end of our five (5) week trip to the Balkans. We had high expectations that weren't met. I found the restaurant stuffy with an aire about it. It was like they were trying to impress someone. The staff was attentive and the service good but they really weren't engaged. It seemed to me that they were just going through the motions. There were more American honeymooners eating next to us than I have ever been around. I thought I was in Hawaii. The food was good, not over the top, probably my least favorite dining experience while in Positano. Expensive and just not worth it. If you are trying to impress someone, go otherwise you can find better dining options. It was a stormy evening a little rain and the restaurant was very stuffy. We asked to have a window opened which they did but as soon as the wind started to blow they closed it. After that it took some effort for them to reopen the windows near our table. Not super service orientated
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful outdoor terrace restaurant in Positano
Beautiful restaurant with outdoor terrace, seafood platter is tasty, portion relativity small, oyster need order separately. Price is expensive, mainly for the environment. Cappuccino is great too.
Be the first to ReplyMost disappointing meal on 14 day honeymoon
I was incredibly excited to visit La Sponda for my honeymoon. We stayed in Positano for 5 days and had wonderful meals everywhere we went—so we had decent expectations for what we were told was the best restaurant in Positano and a “must go”. In short: skip it and visit one of the other fantastic establishments in Positano for far higher quality food and 3/4 of the price. Beyond the ambiance and quality of service (both of which were fantastic) this was not only deeply disappointing but honestly confusing. I’m unsure if most people who write these reviews don’t know good quality food, or if they are blinded by the experience of Le Sirenuse, but this was so disappointing for a Michelin Star restaurant. The food was 2 stars, at best. We read poor reviews before coming but thought we’d give it a try anyway given all of the hype. The only decent dishes we had in our four course tasting/wine pairing menu were the amuse-bouche and the appetizer of the octopus. Everything else either left something to be desired or was downright unpleasant. We had raviolis which were served lukewarm and just okay in flavor (poor compared to other pastas we had all trip) and amberjack which was the fishiest I have ever tasted—it was almost inedible. The desserts were lemon based and almost painful to eat. At one point my husband and I were laughing because we thought the hype around La Sponda must have been a joke. Had this been a fabulous meal, the price tag would not have mattered to us. But we paid more than $450 for truly our least favorite meal in all of our 14 day Italian honeymoon. We had fabulous meals at Don Giovanni, Chez Black, and La Tagliata in Positano and spent no more than $175 a night. If you have money to blow and want an aesthetically pleasing place with great service—but don’t care about the quality of food — then La Sponda is for you.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best restaurants in Positano
When we first entered the La Sirenuse hotel, we were unaware of where the restaurant was located. We patiently waited behind a couple being helped and when they were finished another couple walked in and immediately the front desk people (because another guy came out from the back) ignored us and started talking and helping the new couple that walked in. Keep in mind both front desk people started talking to the couple and completely ignored us like we weren’t there. We are both Americans who happened to be Asian and the other couples were also American but both were Caucasian. I found this to be a little strange however this wouldn’t be our last encounter of this sort here in Positano. After finally being helped, we made it to the restaurant. From the moment we stepped in, it was a completely different experience. Everyone was so welcoming and professional. They wanted to provide us with a better seat with a nicer view so they gave us the option to wait a little bit so we can sit closer to the window over looking Positano. Every little detail was well thought out. They provided a little hook for the hand bag to hang from the table and they took our coats to hang for us. We opted for the 10 course food tasting which was absolutely amazing. We had multiple waiters who were all very helpful and genuine. They provided the best service we have ever experienced and the food was phenomenal! They also had a duo going around and playing music for the guests. It was a wonderful experience dining here and we would recommend this beautiful restaurant to anyone visiting Positano!
Be the first to ReplySpecial Evening
I attempted to book a table at La Sponda about 2 months prior to our arrival. There was no availability. I reached out to our hotel which was just up the street and they were able to secure a reservation for us. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. It was in the area when you first enter the restaurant. Not on the side with the beautiful windows. At first we felt like second class citizens as everyone was on the side with the big beautiful windows. I assume that perhaps hotel guests get first dibs on that section ( fair enough). Within 30 minutes our section was full of patrons so I felt more comfortable. The service is absolutely phenomenal ( though the sommelier does a hard sell). The ambience was as beautiful as we anticipated . We were very pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our dinners as I read several negative reviews. We found the food to be excellent. We are so glad our hotel was able to get us in. It was a memorable evening. They even sent us home with s little treat.
Be the first to ReplyPhenomenal Dining Experoence
From the start, everything about La Sponda was five stars. We opted for the a la carte menu which was perfect. We talked to the Sommelier and started off a glass of Ca del Bosco sparkling wine and he pointed us in the direction of a 2011 Barolo for our meal. For starters, I had the tuna tartare and my wife had the ravioli with white truffles. My wife had the lobster for main course and had the veal. The food and service were outstanding. We capped the night off with some limoncello which was perfect. La Sponda is a bucket list restaurant I highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Lunch
Was a bit skeptical of La Sponda after reading some previous guests' experiences. Honestly, my partner and I had a fantastic lunch! We were treated wonderfully by all service staff, and they were very accommodating for gluten free options. The food was delicious, if slightly under salted, but that was easily fixed with the salt grinder and probably preferable-- especially if someone is trying to manage their sodium consumption. The view was captivating and I'm not upset with the prices for the incredible experience. You pay more, yes, but considering all factors that go into "crafting" such an experiencing, I think it was worth it(and I'm typically very frugal). 4/5 for those wanting to treat themselves
Be the first to ReplyLackluster lunch experience at La Sponda
I’m not one to normally write reviews but felt compelled to write about this particular experience. Our initial greeting at the hotel (Le Sirenuse) by the front doorman was extremely negative. Upon seeing us, he seemed more bothered than anything. There was no smile, no warm greeting, just a very dry look followed by a somewhat insincere, ‘Can I help you?’ I mentioned we had reservations for lunch at La Sponda and after checking my name on his list, and then looking us up and down with almost a scowl, he directed us to the restaurant. I can only guess his scowl was because my boyfriend, who is a professional photographer, was carrying a camera across his body and looked like a ‘tourist’. But frankly, 90% of the people in Positano are tourists! It’s not as though we were wearing tank tops and flip flops. We made sure to dress appropriately for this lunch. Needless to say, we were left with a very negative first impression. At a hotel/restaurant of this caliber, we expected better. Upon arriving at La Sponda, which is two floors down, we were greeted by a friendly enough hostess who seated us at our table and we were then provided with the drink and lunch menus quite promptly. We shared the grilled seafood appetizer and then ordered the linguini pasta with spiny lobster for two. The first dish was delicious however the lobster pasta was served lukewarm and wasn’t even hot upon arrival. In addition, the lobster meat had been removed from the shell completely and rolled into the pasta, which was contrary to what we were expecting given the price of the dish (120 euro). Normally, when lobster is served for two, it is sliced in half and presented in a fashion deserving of its price tag. In this case, we were extremely disappointed not only by the temperature of the dish, but by the lack of creative presentation as well. We were offered coffee and dessert but declined and settled our bill after waiting over 20 minutes after we had finished our meal. The restaurant had gotten much busier at this point and the waiters were busy tending to other patrons. Our final bill was 267 euros which included two spritzes, two glass of white wine, one appetizer and two pasta dishes. I’ve dined at other Michelin restaurants in Italy (most recently in Matera) which easily justified the price tag but sadly, this one did not. Granted, the views are stunning and the restaurant service was acceptable but the main dish we ordered was quite disappointing. Not to mention, the negative impression we were left with upon our initial reception at the hotel. To add insult to injury, the same front doorman didn’t so much as smile or acknowledge us as we exited the hotel even after I said ‘Grazie!’ and smiled. As the old adage goes, money doesn’t buy you class. I would caution the hotel to be more mindful of how they treat their clientele. First impressions make all the difference and for a hotel of this caliber, one would expect them to be more welcoming and hospitable to their patrons.
Be the first to ReplyBreath taking. Brilliant food, better service, best wine.
Absolutely spectacular, if you have a chance you must dine here. Can’t recommend it more. Fantastic outlook, fabulous service and the best food we’ve had in Positano
Be the first to ReplyStay away! Especially from the tasting menu!
My family visited the restaurant recently and had an awful experience that left us feeling completely ripped off and taken advantage of. We were with 4 young adults that were not prepared to have to choose from a pre set menu. There was nothing on the menu that no one had any interest in and hardly seemed anything resembling true Italian style cuisine. We did not leave but i wish that we had. We were not even allowed to split up our table of 8 and dine in the main area of the restaurant. They did remove an item that no one would eat but hardly softened the blow when we got the bill. I have eaten all over Italy for many years and have never been treated like this. The food was awful and was one of the most expensive meals I have ever paid for. STAY AWAY
Be the first to Replymesmerizing view, incredible view and impeccable service.
My husband and I were in Positano for a wedding and also to celebrate our anniversary. I had several restaurants on my must do list and La Sponda was one of them. Of course I forced my husband to dress to the nine's and did too. The ambiance was magical with all of the candlelight. The musicians that played to each table were perfect. I ordered from the chef's tasting menu as I knew it to be the chef's best pairings. I also had the wine's paired with each course. The service was impeccable. The chef even sent out 2 small additional goodies. Each serving was simply incredible. Of course this was in late April, the shoulder season, but that did not matter because this restaurant is always fully booked. My husband loved it and thought it the best ever. Now, this place isn't for the fainthearted. It is spendy, but well well worth it. The food was so delicious and the place was so romantic. There were some dining there that were definitely wearing more casual attire. I would suggest dressing up as the experience definitely calls for it and I think you may be seated at a better table with a view. My thanks to the chef and to the staff for such a wonderful experience
Be the first to Replyregular food regular service
The experience was rather regular/bad. We waited 45 minutes to get oyster to start with... the eu$ 45 6 oysters weren't fresh, few days olds at least. Another 30 minutes to get the main course that was recommended to us by the waiter. Very disappointing, linguini something... in the name of god the pasta was undercook, not al dente, but stick in your teeth undercook. The eu$85 plate was barely ok. Absolutely nothing special about it. The waiter said "sorry for the wait" when he brought the check, the staff did nothing to try to fix or balance the obvious bad experience we were having, nobody even ask how things were, since it was obvious that were not good and nobody took responsibility. The place is nice, but very disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth it
I never write negative reviews but incase you’re not sure if this place is worth it, it’s not Very underwhelming food and we had the lobster linguini. Service was awful, we waited over an hour for our food and the server didn’t even ask if we wanted more water.. Don’t waste your time or $. Not sure how this place has a michelin star. I have had better pasta dishes at a diner

Relaxing atmosphere though some guests really want to get noticed. Epic views. Excellent food. Service abundant. A must do for a couple.

Located inside the swank Le Sirenuse hotel, the dining area has one of the best views of the water. We started with the tuna tartare – a small, but very rich dish for two. My wife had the spiny lobster, which was slightly overcooked but redeemed with some melted butter. I had the fried squid and shrimp – which were excellent. Done in the Japanese style, the entire shrimp may be eaten. Others may complain that it is difficult (actually impossible) to peel the shrimp. Eat the whole shrimp with the shell on. A side order of French fries was shared. Expect a hefty bill for lunch, but the quality of the food, the professional waitstaff and the view are worth it.

Food and service were excellent. We enjoyed the 3 musicians who went from table to table playing customer requests.
