Authentic? LOL
Do all these sheeple know that Julia Child's show was called the FRENCH Chef? Super rica really got lucky that Julia used to eat here. But she was no expert on Mexican cuisine. They don't even have lengua. Nothing super about this place. just hype . I'll stick to Lilly's on Chapala where the tacos are authentico and not an SB version of El Torito. lol

Don't be afraid that this is a touristy destination. The food is sooo good. Lots of locals there. We went back two days in a row and even now my mouth is watering as I remember their food. We loved the Especial, the Horchata and Aguas Frescas, and the tortillas and guac. House made tortillas so fresh right in front of you! The line is worth it, the slow service is worth it. Take cash- they only take cash.
Be the first to ReplyThe Best Value in Town and the Freshest Mexican Food
The beauty of this place is that, despite praise from Julia Child and decades of worldwide attention, the friendly family that runs it has never raised the prices, fiddled with the menu or chosen to offer anything other than freshly made, unusual dishes for barely three dollars apiece. The lines are always long and the area for eating isn't luxurious, but this remains the most authentic and deserving place in town, unchanged, genuine, unusual and kind.

Waited for 20 minutes on a late Monday afternoon and the line was consistently long. We ordered the taco de adobado (grilled pork) and the special of the day - enchiladas (2). The menu is inside the taqueria and the specials for the day above the register. When our number was called we picked it up at the other window. Wow! We were pleasantly surprised how flavorful our order was. If there wasn’t a line we would have gone back to order more. It seemed like our drinks cost more than the actual meals. There were plenty of tables available inside and about 4-5 picnic tables outside. This is a cash only taqueria.
Be the first to ReplyGood, but overrated
I was told about this place during the height of the pandemic. Went a couple of times and was turned off by the line. One trip to SB, I didn't have any plans, so I thought I would stand in line. 45min in line to order, and another 20min to get my food. The food was good...but not an hours-wait good. When I left at 2pm, there was a single person in line. If I go back, I'll eat late.
Be the first to Replylong wait in line was worth it
We had to wait over 30 minutes in line when we arrived at 11:30 am. But the wait was worth it. You have to order off a chalk board menu and then wait for about 10 to 15 minutes while they prepared it. Spaced, indoor seating was available, but we chose to take out. Being infrequent visitors, we ordered a huge assortment of tacos and their other specials, ranging for $2.75 to $8, like 10 items for 2 people, and enjoyed them all. Highly recommended. Burp.
Be the first to ReplyFriendly service, Good tacos.
This place is pretty famous. Not always open. Tacos are on the small side but very tasty. Frendly service.

We live in the area, have been going to La Super Rica for over 35 years. Love it! Yesterday, Friday at 2, a first.
We walked in, right to the counter and ordered. NO ONE IN LINE!
2 number 16's, 2 ice cold Pacifico with limes! As always, amazing food, amazing service!
Fun
Very famous, of course, and we had to wait in line to order. We had tacos de bistec, chile pasilla, and some other samplings. We loved the specialties, but felt the tacos were just ok.
Be the first to ReplyWhen you call this place a "dive," it's because it's gone down hill.
Went there last night for the first tie in 30 years. Terrible! The tortilla was the size of a coffee cup saucer. The meat was dry. Looked like it was made 3 days ago. And that's it! No lettuce, no tomato, no salsa, no nothing. The menu is VERY limited. You want a "good" taco, go to Taco Bell. I won't be going back.
Be the first to ReplyWorth the Wait in Line, every Bite was Delicious!
I had wanted to eat at La Super-Rica Taqueria for years but we'd never had a car on our SB visits. This trip we rented a car, so eating here was a top priority! We arrived around 5:30 on a weekday and waited 45 minutes in line. It was certainly worth every minute of the wait! The tamal of the day was excellent (chili pepper and pork) and my husband chose the Super-Rica Especial; roasted chili with cheese. We also ordered the Agua Frescos, watermelon beverages. They were so refreshing on a warm day! The food was so fresh and well seasoned, and the service friendly. We ate outside at a picnic table; perfect! Remember to bring cash! This tiny (due to Covid restrictions) restaurant serves the best Mexican food I have ever tasted!
Be the first to ReplyLa Super-Rico is worth the wait!
We arrived here at 3pm, thinking we could avoid the lines, but we ended up waiting about 15 minutes in line to order. We ordered adobada tacos, guacamole, and a vegetable tamal. We waited another 20 minutes for our food, but it was worth it! Oh my. Because seating is limited due to COVID, we took the food and ate at the beach, just seven minutes away. Tasty and definitely repeatable.

The cheese is crack. It is so delicious when eaten with the salsa and the fresh tortillas. Amazing! Worth a trip to SB just for it.
Be the first to ReplyThe best!!
Stopped by today for and got food to go for the family, a great decision! Order a variety of items for the family, including some of the best Agua frescos in town,( watermelon 😄). Everybody commented on the spectacular flavors. Next month they will celebrate 40 years in Santa Barbara..... that speaks for itself. I couldn’t recommend this little place enough, a five star experience!
Be the first to ReplyLa Super-Rica is Super Fantastic
Fabulous home made tortillas are the basis of their delicious Mexican Food dishes. Whether you prefer, pork, steak, chicken or tri-tip, you are sure to find the perfect dish that will satisfy even the pickiest Epicureans in your family. Although they are only open for Take-Out, the wait was not long, the food fabulous and the folks making the food as always were very cheerful and pleasant. Great Food at Great Prices.
