All around really enjoyed this place, their food and the general vibe. Service was awesome and management checked in on us!
Be the first to ReplyWe love this place.
We started out with the Prosciutto Di Parma and Carciofi. I had the parpadelle, my wife the layered lasagna, and my daughter the ravioli. Our drinks were great (old fashion, pinot grigio, and etc.). Desserts Teramisu Flambe and Ricotta Cheesecake. All items were delicious and most are in the photos already. Service was great, bathrooms clean, ambiance was inviting. We are not used to DC, so I have never seen a 20% added for service workers and then they said an additional tip would be generous. We don't have that even at the nicer restaurants in Nashville, so I didn't know how much to tip with the 20% already added. Usually, that is "baked" in the food cost where we are from.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food.
Loved the 40 layer lasagna , seafood dish and my cocktail was also delicious ! Ambiance is great for date night / special occasions.
Be the first to ReplyVery underwhelmed by my last visit.
The best items of my meal were the ones that weren't prepared by the human hands: the red wine and oysters. Now as for the meal: 1. I ordered the 48 layers lasagna, I couldn't even eat it halfway. The sodium levels were high, it was almost like I was just eating salt. 2. I had to order a desert to counter all the salt on my tongue and throat that the wine nor water washed away. I ordered the Tiramisu (it was different and I wasn't impressed) 3. Then for my desert drink I ordered an espresso martini and requested they substitute the vodka with tequila. The establishment charged me a shot of patron and the drink. Most establishments just make the liquor substitute which is weird on their part and of course the drink came out tasting like patron. The morning after my throat and tongue still taste like salt. Of the two stars, one is for the oysters the other for the red wine.
Be the first to Reply5/5! Highly recommend the Duck Hunt and any of the pastas.
Service was quick and professional
Be the first to ReplyIncredible experience.
Such a beautiful restaurant and the staff is amazing! We were indecisive on which wine to choose and their wonderful sommelier, Kendrick, helped us find something we loved. Service was stellar and the manager was absolutely impeccable. Will be returning and I highly recommend.

Decided I really needed the 40 layer lasagna for my birthday this year -- let me tell you guys, the food did not disappoint! We started off with the Arancini and Margarita pizza, both were delicious! The cheesiness of the arancini with the chili oil was to die for. The pizza was tasteful and cooked perfectly. Let me not get started on the lasagna, it lived up to the hype. The rib meat in the lasagna gave it a different taste but in a good way. One small note - we def thought the portion was going to be a bit bigger. Nevertheless it was good! For dessert we had the Tiramisu Flambé and the soft serve. The presentation was so cute and fun. The service was fine, our waiter was nice but he could've been a little more helpful since it was our first time here. Our drinks were good too! Overall, great experience for my birthday! Would def be coming back :)

Quite possibly the best Italian restaurant in DC and certainly among the best places around. I find myself thinking about the pappardelle, lasagna, and the duck soup on par with how often I think about the Roman Empire. The only thing off with the experience is the tacky neon sign referencing cocaine by the bathrooms; otherwise perfect.

Okay okay okay I get the hype now, I really do! We came here with a group of 9 people who were all excited to share lots of things on the menu, which (in my humble opinion) is the best way to try a restaurant for the first time. We got a good selection of the menu and I really think I got a good feel for what L'ardente is all about. First, our server was super attentive and kind. I know with 9 people it can get hectic, especially on a Friday night, but he never forgot anything and kept a smile on the whole time. 10/10. I'll list the items we tried in order of my favorites: Zucca Arancini Bucatini Cacio e Pepe Hamachi Crudo Ravioli Lasagna Americana Pizza Cheesecake Gianduja S'mores Tiramisu Flambe My favorite cocktail was the Arancia Rossa Margarita, which was super gorgeous and also very delicious. The mule was syrupy and barely drinkable imo, but the Frozen Sicilian was also a winner.
Be the first to ReplyOverhyped! It was fine but wouldn't come back.
For first timers, be aware that they tack on a 20% service charge to your bill. Duck ravioli (3.5/5): This was mostly sauce with a tiny piece of ravioli, hardly any duck flavor or filling. Sauce was good but it was about 85% of this appetizer. Zucca (2/5): Lacked in flavor--I had to ask the waiter for black pepper and red pepper flakes. Very bland red sauce and the sausage was good, but had clearly not had time to properly immerse into the sauce. Bland and definitely could be prepared better at home. 40 layer lasagna (4.5/5): This was the best dish of the night! Flavor was fantastic, presentation was great, and it was a sizable portion. Really delicious. Pretty much the only thing I'd get again, carried the entire dinner. Tiramisu flambé (2/5): Presentation was cool so I can't dock it more than the current score but it was truly the most lackluster tiramisu...the flambé was cool but completely unnecessary as the alcohol did not burn off properly. Dessert was not soaked evenly in espresso and alcohol, leaving some pieces tasting very bitter and some with an overpowering coffee flavor. Would not get again. Service was also incredibly slow. Tables around us were waiting for the waiter to take their orders and sitting around. Ambiance is nice and definitely geared toward a younger, hip crowd--not too loud or too dark, which is a plus. Unfortunately, the meal was lackluster--plenty of better Italian in the city and I would not return on my own volition. But if I came with a group, I'd try a couple more apps and get the lasagna again.

Love this restaurant!!! If your pallet is versatile this is the place for you. Authentic Italian food, good drinks, great service and don't be afraid to try it.The Branzino is my favorite but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

Every food item was delicious, servers were very knowledgeable about the whole menu and were attentive. I will come again just for the lasagna, but honestly every item we ate was delicious!

Food was up to the hype! Ambiance was also on point along with the service! Reservations are so difficult to get! It's worth it, though! Likely the best Italian I've ever had.We go the lasagna, veal pappardale, cabbage and tiramisu. All of them are must gets and I still want to try the items on the menu as well!
Be the first to ReplyEverything about L'Ardente is excellent.
The food, the drinks, the service, the ambiance, everything. My husband and I ordered the Arancia Rossa Margarita, the Old Fashion, the Duck Hunt, Ceaser Salad, Pappardelle, and the branzino. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious. I lived in Italy for several years and the pasta was similar to the pasta you would find in Italy. I highly recommend L'Ardente.

I don't usually leave reviews for restaurants where I agree with their rating on Yelp but this is an exception. Had and excellent meal and very impressed with their ability to make their food a unique experience. Everything we had was excellent. starting with the Duck Hunt appetizer, the Caesar salad, the Lasagne, the pastas, and unique desserts very well executed. I'll remember this dining experience and time spent with family.

4.5 stars. The Lobster pasta was great. Can't really taste the squid ink, it's more for presentation, so don't be scared. The lobster in the pasta was meaty and yummy. Sauce was amazing. My bro got the Americana pizza and I was impressed, cheese sauce and dough were all flavorful. My dad got the sea bass and he said it's one of the best fish he ate. Service was great. Great atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for lunch and was disappointed by the service.
To start off, their phones apparently do not work. I tried calling 15-20 minutes before the reservation time to talk to someone. Not sure if the traffic was bad due to st patty's weekend but the traffic was terrible! I wanted to let them know we'd be there past the grace period time just for their awareness as we had a reservation booked.Called more than 5 times and it kept going to their automated message, which did say if we came after our grace period, it would be based off tables availability. We got there late and talked to the worker at front. I explained how we tried to give a heads up notice and she said their phones didn't work? Which didn't make sense, why have a phone number listed if no one would ever pick up? She then had to ask a manager if it was okay for us to still be seated. We got seated with our menus and we understood the kitchen would close soon since we got there late, totally understandable. The server would be coming back every few minutes waiting for us to order. When we were about to order, the server realized that we were given the dinner menu, so she had to bring out the correct menu. Again, we had to look over the menu and then ordered. The food itself was great. No complaints, hence the three stars. After we finished, we noticed other tables were being offered dessert. And when we left, other tables were still dining in even though we came in later. We were never offered the dessert menu and everything felt really rushed. We understood that ordering had to be done quickly due to the kitchen closing. But overall from the beginning to end, the service was not something I would say was worth the automatic 20% gratuity. I would come again maybe to try out the dinner menu. But I've read past reviews of their service being great and didn't feel that way. Might update the review if I come again!
Be the first to Replyhands down best food we had while in DC.
Our entire family voted the 40-layer lasagna the best lasagna they have ever tasted. I got the papperdelle and it was wonderful. we ordered the duck foie gras apprenticed and it left even kids licking the little bowl. if there was one place I would recommend in DC for incredible food, this would be it. We are a family of 6 and there wasn't a single one of us that didn't walk out raving about it.

Taking an Uber or ride the metro would be great options if you're not familiar with the area. It's gentrified and gps wasn't helpful (no valet parking but there's a garage in the building). We were met with friendly staff and served by two waitstaff; it appeared to be a standard here. Beautiful venue and atmosphere. Mixed clientele with locals and tourists on the day we were there. A good sign.We ordered the Cavolfiori (fried cauliflower), which is smaller than it looked on Yelp. Capesante (scallop "Gnocchi") - by far the most beautiful entree that I've ever tasted. At $44, it's eye popping in more ways than one. Linguine Alla Vongole (linguine with shelled clams) - rich, creamy, thick and full of taste. We added Margherita Pizza, nothing to write about except that we were hungry. And the famous 40-layers (not 40) lasagna, it's fine. For dessert, we got a layered chocolate mousse and Tiramisu Flambé. Missed the moment when they lit the Tiramisu chocolate ball; yelpers get ready.
