Birthday dinner review!Nic Elmi is a Philly chef I've known and followed since before his come-from-behind Top Chef victory. Laurel had already provided a fantastic birthday dinner for me (<a href="https://www.yelp.com/biz/laurel-philadelphia-2">yelp.com/biz/laurel-phil…</a>), and Royal Boucherie is one of those bistros that had delivered many a fantastic experience when he was behind it (<a href="https://www.yelp.com/biz/royal-boucherie-philadelphia-2">yelp.com/biz/royal-bouch…</a>).He's one of those chefs who can really do almost anything in Philly and make it a win, so when I first read he would next be involved with two restaurants in Bala Cynwyd (<a href="/redir?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.phillymag.com%2Ffoobooz%2F2021%2F10%2F25%2Flark-nick-elmi-royal-boucherie-refectory%2F&s=eb36f65ef429351f0e8a4889bc84511bf8f4ac252ca7d07d02c66a46b303e2db" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">phillymag.com/foobooz/20…</a>) I thought it was a typo! But my interest was beyond piqued, and going to the Landing Kitchen led to an incredible all-day cafe experience that I need to drop a future review on!Lark was one of those restaurants that needed to wait for a special occasion though. So, I thought that the five-year anniversary of when I dined at Laurel after an Eagles Superbowl parade would be the perfect time to go to Lark before the Eagles won it again (proving that not everything goes as planned), and it led to another fantastic dining experience from a Top Chef!The cocktail menu delivered an exceptional variety of signature options and classics, especially for dessert where I savored an old fashioned with a couple of different amaros. depending on where you sat the view had a good overlook of Manayunk and Philly, and it was easy to appreciate the modern interior, spot-on service, and fact that they had some well-rounded zero-proof drink offerings.During our meal I enjoyed the following:Burrata - the fresh and creamy mozzarella with honeynut squash, sage pesto, and hazelnut agrodolce was so incredible that we chowed down before I could take a photo.Chilled Jumbo Shrimp - done both spicy and sweet with a fennel mojo picon and olio verde!Halibut Au Poivre - Hands down the best Halibut dish I ever had with hen of the woods mushrooms, baby turnips, harissa black lentils, and a chicken jus to bring all the flavor!Olive Oil Cake - a decadent but savory dessert that came with a tasty Greek yogurt gelato.Overall, it was another great Elmi experience that has me ready for another visit!
