Be the first to ReplySparkling Birthday Lunch!
A group of friends and I had lunch here to celebrate a birthday. We arrived at 11:30, but our waiter didn't come to take our order for about 20 minutes, although we did get water and other drinks in the meantime. We were all talking, and perhaps he didn't want to interrupt or rush us, but it seemed a bit long and we were all looking around for him. I started with a cup of the soup of the day, a cauliflower curry, which was very nice. Several others had French onion soup, which only comes in a bowl size, and they raved about it. I had the mushroom risotto for my main dish. I usually do not order risotto, but it was a chilly day and a warm rice dish sounded like just the thing. The mushrooms were sautéed perfectly with just the right amount of sauce on the rice and shaved parmesan. (See photo) I highly recommend it! A couple of friends had the croque monsieur, which came accompanied by a small salad and French fries. (See photo) They both had plenty left over for lunch the next day! Another two split the charcuterie plate with 3 cheeses and 3 meats, with lots of different accompaniments and bread, of course. (See photo) They loved it as well! Finally, another couple of friends had the cobb salad, which they said was good as well. (See photo) The restaurant then surprised the birthday girl with a dessert of profiteroles and a sparkler candle! (See photo) No singing (thank goodness) but very festive and unusual! I highly recommend this restaurant for a special lunch. Prices seemed a bit higher than expected, but perhaps not for an upscale restaurant in Cherry Creek. Once the lunch orders were taken, the service was very good. Our waiter cheerfully accommodated us with individual checks.
Be the first to ReplyFood and ambiance great 5 stars
Service several times has been a little stuffy and today we were there with 4 women. We ordered an app and then time went by and by and 45 min later out waitress came over and asked if we were ready to pay!??? We were like where is out food? She then ran off with no explanation.... the food then got there another 15 ming making it an hour. She didn't say much but she said she thought we were good...... but before she thought we had finished so that was strange. There was no manager or anyone saying sorry and definitely no discounts so that was a little surprising. Anyway, not the best experience today! Having said all that the food was good but we had to race out of there to pick up children so didn't really get to enjoy it. The food and ambience are great so there is that !
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Dinner at Le Bilboquet
Mangez bien, riez souvent, aimez beaucoup - a French saying meaning live life to the fullest. Kenzy & I did just that while having an incredible dinner at Le Bilboquet this week. Le Bilboquet is located in Cherry Creek. We arrived and were seated in the main dining room. The aesthetic of Le Bilboquet is that of enduring French flair with blue velvet banquettes, unique chandelier lighting & white linen table cloths. This is a spot to see & be seen in Cherry Creek (& we live for it); dress to impress. The Captain of Le Bilboquet, Christo Charles ran our dinner and ensured we wanted for nothing during our meal. Christo had a strong, professional presence on Le Bilboquet's floor. Jerome was our mixologist for the evening & he wowed us with his joie de vivre & cocktail creations. For Les Hors d'Oeuvres we had the Les Moules Marinières & the Burrata. Les Moules Marinières were made with Steamed Mussels with White Wine, Shallots & Garlic. The shallots, garlic & white wine made the perfect broth that filled the steamed mussels with flavor. The broth was rich & buttery - ideal for the mussels that were faintly sweet with a mushroom-like undertone. Our mussels were paired with a crisp champagne from France; the champagne's bubbles and off-dry notes complimented the mussels beautifully. The Burrata was made with Cow's Milk Burrata, Wild Arugula, Passion Fruit Dressing & Campari Tomatoes. The burrata had a freshy, milky flavory with a creamy texture. The Campari tomatoes added nice bursts of acidity to the cheese. For Les Entrées we had Le Poulet Cajun and L'Escalope de Veau au Citron. Le Poulet Cajun was made with Cajun Chicken, Beurre Blanc, French Fries & Salad. Le Poulet Cajun is the signature dish that put Le Bilboquet on the map in popularity and is a must order. It's one of the best chicken entrees you can find in Denver. Le Poulet Cajun was a succulent chicken breast with a lovely spice rubbed exterior. The Beurre Blanc sauce made the chicken meat lusciously buttery and our mouths watered with each bite. We had a medium-bodied rosé paired with the Le Poulet Cajun. L'Escalope de Veau au Citron was made with Veal Scallopini, Lemon-Veal Sauce & Mashed Potatoes. This was our first time trying the veal at Le Bilboquet and it was everything. The veal was sliced and pounded very thin for the finest flavor. The meat was tender with a delicate texture and it was generously coated in Lemon-Veal Sauce. The mashed potatoes? Sinfully delicious. They were ridiculously buttery with a rich silky texture that had us swooning. These are the best mashed potatoes I've had in Denver. For Dessert we had the Vacherin and the Profiteroles. Both desserts we had were sublime. The Vacherin was made with Strawberries, Meringue Tears, coulis, Raspberry Sorbet, Vanilla Ice Cream & Frozen Whipped Cream. The Profiteroles were served with Vanilla Ice Cream and Hot Chocolate Sauce. Bon appetit!
Be the first to Replyalmost....
This restaurant is good with atmosphere and food. Their service however, is almost there, but not quite. Had Thanksgiving there with friends. The presentations were nice and wait staff courteous, but didn't quite make the mark.
Example: four of us had turkey. the mashed potatoes were served in four different serving dishes that were narrow and long. The servers put them down beside our plates, then left. Three of the four dishes had a serving spoon which was immersed in the potatoes, handle and all. We had to fish the spoons out, then deal with cleaning them so we wouldn't have potatoes all over our hands.
I ordered decaf coffee with dessert. The server poured the coffee into the cup which I immediately added sugar to. To my dismay, the coffee temperature was only slightly warm.
My suggestions, make sure the coffee you are serving is HOT before pouring, and either don't serve watery potatoes (these were) so the spoon won't take a bath in them, or set the potatoes down first, then place the spoon in the potatoes to make sure it doesn't slide into them while being brought from the kitchen.
Chose the time of your visit
We've been to this restaurant twice. We loved it the first time and were excited to return today. We did not know that today was champagne brunch with a DJ. It was LOUD. I used the soundmeter app on my phone and the decibel level from the music was 82-89 which is very loud, on the edge of causing hearing damage. I asked the waitstaff to turn it down and they declined because it was "champagne brunch". I liked the songs, but literally could not speak across the small table to my husband. I considered leaving. The food was phenomal but it was not the quiet, elegant French restaurant that we were expecting.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Breakfast
I had never heard of this place, and with the muck of hotel restaurants that plague Denver it is a great find. I went from breakfast on my birthday and was very impressed with food and drink. I got the French Toast, which I have not stopped thinking of a single day. My friend got the crepes and they were also amazing. Service could use improvement, but like most restaurants now, they are somewhat short staffed. The server and servers assistants were all very friendly and attentive regardless. Drinks were great and I will definitely be returning.
Be the first to ReplyEnjoyable Experience, Inconsistent Food
We enjoyed a lovely evening at Le Bilboquet. The decor is beautiful and makes the meal feel special. We appreciated the reasonable noise level which allowed us to carry on a conversation in a normal voice. The service was very good and unrushed. The wine list was certainly adequate.
The food was hit and miss. Cocktails were creative and tasty. The escargot and charcuterie plate were spot on. Really some of the best escargot I have had in a while. The entrees were a different story. They were out of the two entrees I had wanted, but that seems to be the case everywhere you go anymore. So that can be overlooked. I settled on the Cajun Chicken, which I wish I hadn't. It was cooked fine, but the whole dish was confusing and lacked flavor. The same could be said for my wife's salmon. A big yawn. My daughter had the mussels, which she liked. We did not have dessert.
The prices were inline with what you would expect. But I hope they work on some of their entrees.
Very Nice
I see that there are several reviews complaining about the service. We are local and have eaten here a dozen times and not encountered poor service.
We can recommend the Cajun Chicken and the Pork Loin. The beet salad has always been good. The atmosphere and patio areas are great.
A lovely French restaurant in Cherry Creek, Denver.
This is a lovely sophisticated French restaurant in the Cherry Creek shopping district. The main dining room is nicely appointed with real flowers.
My wife enjoyed the salad of rare tuna and greens while I ordered the steak tartare with mixed greens and perfectly prepared string French fries. A nice bottle of. French white wine was the perfect choice to complement the salad and beef tartare.
Service was very professional.
If we lived in Denver, we would be regulars.
Worst service
First impression - staff was pretentious. Turned out they’re just incredibly lazy, very unintelligent, inattentive and just rude.
Worst part, when making a reservation we mentioned it was a birthday celebration. Not only nobody cared, they mixed up our table, we were waiting to make an order forever, had to actually ask a waiter to remove empty plates from the table. Overall disgusting. Worst management. The bold guy who had the most important look on his face seemed to be in charge... oh well. They should be ashamed. Food was way to average. Go some place else, they don’t worth your time or money.
bad night and worse manager
We have been eating at Le Bibloquet at least once a week since the weather got nice in April. They have a very pleasant outdoor patio. The food and service have been good. However, last night was a disaster. We went with a friend and the appetizer that they brought my wife was the wrong one. Then they brought what she ordered, but left on an ingredient that she asked to be left off. Then, when they brought the mains to me and our guest, they said the computer malfunctioned so did not enter my wife's order. When they finally brought it, a rack of lamb ordered medium rare, it was well done. By then she did not want to wait anymore. Of course they did not charge for it. But the worst thing was what happened next. On the way out I asked the manager, who I had met several times, to cancel my reservation for the next week. We had decided to take a break after the experience that night. But the manager gave me a nasty look and response and said, in a very unpleasant way, "OK, you are canceled!" and turned and walked away in a huff. I can understand a "bad night", I was in the hospitality business for over 40 years, but I can't understand or accept the manager treating me that way, as if I was the "bad guy". So, now that I have been "cancelled" by this restaurant I will NOT come back. It was not that great and Denver has a lot of better ones.
Be the first to ReplyPretentious & Overpriced
This is a national chain restaurant that fancies itself as a temple of French cuisine. Food is fairly decent, but definitely concocted at headquarters and not local chef-driven. Extremely overpriced for what it is. Hardly any wine selections under $100. Attentive if amateurish service.
Be the first to ReplyPoor service and mediocre food.
We had lunch at Le Bilboquet yesterday for a friend's birthday. We arrived at 12:15. Our menus sat in front of us with no wait staff stopping by to take a drink order, a food order, tell us about specials - nothing - until 12:52. We were served water during that 30+ minutes. Our food was mediocre. Nicose salad under-dressed and not flavorful, and both Le Croque Mr / Mme were over-cooked. Props for the pomme frites. No one came by after our meal was served to ask if it was acceptable or if we needed anything. We could not get the wait staff's attention to simply request salt and pepper to help the under-dressed and lack luster salad. The young person serving water was the only consistent attention we received. We left hydrated, but disappointed in this restaurant.
