Only 8 tables inside so book online in order to secure a seat. The food is unashamedly French and rich. The escargot was a great starter and the magret (duck breast) was cooked perfectly. The foie Gras ravioli with truffle cream sauce was perfect. A wonderfully classic French meal

Best fois gras EVER! You go here for the meat-- really superb meat. The duck is excellent as usual the beef. I savored an excellent cassoulet. Each dish is paired with the appropriate wine. The coffee custard dessert was wonderful.

The duck breast and duck leg are very good. Small seating inside, which if you don't have a reservation you'll be seated outside. If seating outside is taken, seating will free up about every 30-minutes or so.

The French Onion soup and the truffle ravioli is insanely good. This is the best thing Ive eaten in Paris. We tried the French onion soup at Le Fumoir and it was nothing compared to le comptoir de la Gastronomie.

Had the bone marrow and shepherd pie and would definitely go again.

I had Foie Gras and duck breast steak, French onion soup and duck breast steak for wife. Over all the amount of food is considerably larger than other places. Quality of Foie Gras was little above normal, duck breast steak was huge with mediocre quality, onion soup was a bit sweet. The price was certainly high side, ~50€ per person.

Their Onion soup was fantastic and remains the best I have ever tasted. I also enjoyed the Duck Foie Gras ravioli. Just a great meal all around!
Be the first to ReplyI found the duck pate was good, just not my thing.

My recent visit to Paris in January 2024 was an unforgettable culinary journey, and at the heart of it all was the enchanting Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie. Nestled in the vibrant streets of Paris, this restaurant proved to be a beacon of gastronomic excellence, leaving an indelible mark on my taste buds and my heart. Walking into Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie, I was immediately embraced by the warm ambiance and the tantalizing aromas wafting from the kitchen. Despite not having a reservation, the gracious staff welcomed me with open arms, understanding my eager anticipation to delve into the world of French cuisine. I couldn't resist the allure of the foie gras ravioli, a dish that has been raved about by many. From the first heavenly bite, I was transported to a realm of unparalleled bliss. The delicate pillows of pasta enveloping the rich, velvety foie gras filling were simply divine, a symphony of flavors dancing on my palate with each mouthful. Next up was the escargot, a quintessential French delicacy that exceeded all expectations. Served in a fragrant garlic butter sauce, each tender morsel of escargot was a testament to the culinary mastery of Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie. The harmonious blend of garlic, butter, and earthy undertones left me longing for more. And who could forget the iconic French onion soup? A comforting bowl of warmth and nostalgia, it was the perfect embodiment of French culinary tradition. The rich broth, sweet caramelized onions, and decadent layer of melted cheese on top created a symphony of flavors that warmed both my body and soul. But beyond the exquisite dishes, what truly set Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie apart was the impeccable service and genuine hospitality. Despite dining solo, I was made to feel like a cherished guest, pampered with attention and care throughout my meal. If there's one restaurant I would eagerly return to in Paris, without hesitation, it would be Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie. For anyone seeking an authentic taste of French gastronomy and a dining experience like no other, this charming establishment is an absolute must-visit.
Be the first to ReplyNice location and set up thou a bit cramped.
Waiting staff outstanding and very knowledgeable. The wines they recommended were spot on. The duck terrine is out of this world. Highlight of my eating experience in this trip. The duck ravioli paled in comparison. Perfect crèm brûlée. Will be back every chance I get.

AMAZING!! This was my favorite restaurant I dined at in Paris!! SO many great options to choose from. We did not make a reservation prior but we sat outside and they had blankets for us since it was chilly. The server was so friendly and spoke a bit of English. I had the French onion soup and it was genuinely the best french onion soup I've had in my entire life. It was so good and flavorful but not overpowering. Of course the escargot was delicious as well. We requested everything to come out at once and they had no problem doing so. For my entree, I had the duck foie gras ravioli in truffle sauce and WOW I did not know what to expect because I had never had foie gras before but this was incredible. I could have done with a little less sauce but it was so good and the pasta was handmade and cooked perfectly. I had a cafe crème to top off the meal at the end and this was great coffee. This felt like a fine dining experience but was so reasonably priced. Having a meal like this in America would have been well over $100 but it was way under that.

Amazing restaurant for very traditional French cuisine! A must when in Paris! The delicatessen inside is a great place to grab food and wine for later also!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was absolutely fantastic.
We got the snails, the foie gras ravioli, and the French onion soup. The waiter said the French onion soup was the best in all of Paris and he wasn't kidding. One of the best soups I've ever had. The staff was very accommodating and brought us inside from our original seats outside as it was very cold. We asked for our wine order 3 times but it was never brought out. That being said, the quality of the food made us forget about the wine. The inside of the restaurant was beautifully decorated with a beautiful delicatessen attached. This was our first stop in Paris and set the bar very high.
Be the first to ReplyMouthwatering.
I'm so glad I got to try this place while visiting Paris. Can we talk about foie gras overload?! Foie gras spread and foie gras truffle ravioli. Not to mention the bone marrow. Also, the escargot....pretty sure we ordered one more after the first one. The table next to us was definitely eyeing all the food on our table, probably thinking DAMN! That is alot of food at 3PM in the afternoon for 2 girls. With the favorable exchange rate, no tax, and no tip, I think everything came out to around $100ish? This would easily be at least $300 back in NYC for the quality and amount of food we got. Definitely my favorite meal in Paris.

This was the only restaurant that I could find that still serves seared foie gras during my visit to Paris, and it was worth every calorie!! Service was fast, efficient, and friendly so stop reading this review and run there!

We ordered our usual favorites and they were all nicely prepare with beautiful ingredients.

Decided to try this restaurant because my mom was ranting and raving about how good the roasted duck breast was.We started off with Scallops tartar with finger lime which was a great appetizer since the scallops tasted so sweet and fresh. The onion soup was done perfectly and not too salty. The burgundy escargot was plump and juicy. I was a tad disappointed in the duck foie gras terrine with chutney and toast as it was not smooth enough and they ran out of goose foie gras. And, the pan seared duck foie gras was a tad overcooked. The roasted duck breast tasted good but it was also a tad overcooked. But I absolutely loved the mashed potatoes. It was so smooth and buttery.I'll give them the benefit of doubt that they can do better since we did have a big party and I do truly believe they would and could do better the next time I visit.

One of the first restaurants that my friend and I visited while in France. Maybe because we were from NYC, but the prices seemed exceptionally reasonable. My friend and I shared 3 appetizers and had each ordered a juice! The server that who was taking care of us was friendly. Would recommend this place!
Be the first to ReplyMy family and I recently spent a week in Paris.
We tried a handful of brasseries but this was our favorite. French onion soup had just the right amount of cheese and bread and the broth was great - perfect level of saltiness. Escargot was seasoned with a generous amount of garlic and also great. We had some pates, pan seared fois gras and shepherds pie with duck. Everything was great!

Maybe because they have great food and also a foie gras store inside this restaurant. I did like my duck salad and the steak was nicely cooked as well. It's a nice cafe with good food and nice service. Probably won't be your favorite Paris spot
Be the first to ReplyI knew I wanted to try Le Comptoir during my trip to Paris.
So, I booked my reservation before we arrived in Paris (2-3 weeks prior). Another couple without a reservation arrived at the same time, and was able to get a table. If you're not able to get a reservation, if you go early you may be able to snag a seat. I split the following with my neice;Bourgogne Snails- butter, garlic and herbs covered these large yet delicate snails. Let's just say, you'll want more. The best to date. Baked Bone Marrow- we went back and forth about ordering the bone marrow. Only because we were afraid it would be too much food. However, when a neighboring table's order came out our minds were made up. We were not disappointed. Duck Foie Gras Ravioli with a Truffle Sauce- the pasta was nice, but the SAUCE! We used our bread to soak up the sauce. The dish was good, but not my favorite. Onion Soup- it's everything you want the onion soup to be, deep flavorful broth with some sweet onions and CHEESE! We would come back for the soup, snails and a few new dishes. When I return to Paris I will definitely have plans to eat at Le Comptoir.

This restaurant have opened since 1894, famous for foie gras. Onion soup was very cheesy and flavorful. Escargot have a strong pesto flavor. The portion for pan seared duck foie gras was huge, three big pieces. Foie Gras was grilled perfectly, very juicy on the inside! Ravioli was the highlights, middle had small pieces of duck foie gras. Outside layer was thin! Truffle sauce goes super well with the Foie Gras. Crème brûlée was decent, crunchy on top :)

We all had escargot and crème brûlée, for lunch after visiting the louvre. Great service and great location. Highly recommend!!
