Loved the service, the room, and eating breakfast on our room's terrace each morning. I highly recommend this place as your stay when you come to Avignon.
Be the first to ReplyWe ate in the downstairs cellar restaurant.
The portions were small and inconsistent. There was a meat pate dish that was delicious, but the rest were only alright. The goat cheese dish and mushroom dish were not so tasty, as they lacked flavour. I also ate in the upstairs garden restaurant and it was also only okay. Got the crispy chicken (caesar) salad and for the first time I'm going to admit that this dish is better in America.

Match the star very much. Everything is fine as a whole. The mushroom and the fillet are perfect and surprisingly tasty. The desserts are beautifully and deliciously presented.

We had lunch at La Mirande which was really good and with pleasant service. The lunch was so good we later returned the same week for dinner, which was also very good. They have tables outside in the garden, which are really nice.

La Mirande is hands down worth every penny! So far one of my favorite hotels! Located in Avignon right behind the famous Palais Du Papes. Service is incredible. The staff that we met are just super friendly and really helpful! The hotel is close to restaurants and shops. The only time we had to get shuttled was for our trip to the French Wineries and for our tour of the old historic towns. Breakfast by their quaint gardens is a must! Our room is very pretty and large enough for the gentleman and myself. Romantic vibe all around.

We have stayed at a lot of quaint hotels but this one is top of the list. I booked it through American Express. The entire staff was 5 star and very accommodating and offered the highest level of customer experience and service. Well received by us as we were in unfamiliar territory. My favorite person is the gentlemen who received is at the door. He is the valet, bellman, and everything else. He greets you with a smile and a genuine welcome. He works hard but never loses his smile. It made us feel warm and welcomed. The desk staff also was very accommodating and appreciative of our business. The rooms themselves were made of mid century coverings and quiet. The bed was super comfortable and shower... amazing waterfall shower head. We had dinner there at the Chef's Table and it was a delight. Jeff is an amazing chef. I will never forget his strawberries nor his duck. Delicious! I highly recommend having dinner this way as you will have wonderful wine, meet new people and see how your meal is prepared by the best. A+ all around.

After a 4 day long bicycle tour decided to stay in Avignon and made a reservation here. We got the 5 course tasting menu for €60. And a there is a 7 course one of €80. There is an extensive wine list from €30- €3000. We got an organic rose from le baux (on the lower end). It was amazing. Every course was exceptionally delicious and beautifully presented. The truffle gnocchi was honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. The grand finale a lemon tart in a sugar ball! The ambiance was great. We dined in their garden with a beautiful ambience. My only criticism it was a windy evening and it kept blowing out our romantical candle.

There are mainly two hotels to stay at in Avignon, either Hotel d'Europe, where we stayed, or Hotel La Mirande. Next time we will stay at La Mirande which has a wonderful location just behind Pope's Palace. Instead, we had dinner at La Mirande one of the two evenings we stayed in Avignon. Beautiful setting having dinner in the garden. The five course set menu was superb and included some of the best foie gras I have ever had. The wine list was very extensive, with of course a focus on excellent wines from Provence. A very memorable dinner and evening!

5 star review. The hotel is very difficult to find -- the street leading to it had what we later learned was a retractable post; so, we drove around and around, and around and around Avignon (which has some very narrow streets) for about 40 minutes before finally finding out we needed to depress some button to make the street post disappear (no signs ... not even in French).Once there, we found the hotel to be beautiful, but a little tired/run down. I realize it's a very old building (an former cardinal's residence immediately behind the Palais du Papes), but it was musty and dank (we were there in late April when it wasn't too hot). When we're in the Provence region again, we'll stay in some smaller, cleaner town. We didn't really care for Avignon as a destination point.

This was one of the most enjoyable hotel experiences I have been lucky enough to have. The hotel is perfectly situated behind the Pope's Palace. A large manor house, very central, you can easily walk to the major sights, restaurants and shops of this charming town in the north of Provence. The gardens were filled with jasmine and lavender and in the warmer months you can sit outside for meals. The dining room was a delight serving provencal specialties accompanied by a spectacular wine list -you are in wine country after all. The rooms were charming, cozy, decorated straight out of a magazine with colorful fabrics from Provence. The bathrooms sported fabulous rainfall shower heads and the bath products were lavender scented from the region. You really got a feel for the place you were in. And the service was incredibly helpful, and were there to make sure anything we would want or need was seen to. Ever since I left, I have wanted to go back.
