My friend and I made an early reservation- Five o'clock, for Heaven's sake! May I say that I would have made another reservation for six o'clock, for seven o'clock, for ever. Two kinds of soup-Asparagus and onion. Mussels. Chocolate mousse- Each exactly what each should be-and delivered with such grace and charm and with excellent wine. A petit bistro that, I hope, will become a local for me and my friends.
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately, the food was not good at all.
Service was fine. The best part of the whole meal was their house red wine, which was surprisingly good. On food, the biggest disappointment was the filet mignon. There was very little sauce and almost no flavor (or seasoning). The filet itself was of poor quality. The one we received was so small that they added another small piece to make it up for it. Also, the side vegetables are aggressively bland. They tasted like they were microwaved. The escargots and duck liver mousse were fine, but not outstanding. The scallops were again pretty disappointing. They were again just not high quality ingredients- the scallops were quite small and the portion size was also small.

We arrived on time for our reservation and we were told all tables were given to other people and we had to come back at least half an hour later. It's the first time I experience this in the USA. We left and we will never go back to this place. I am French and my friends often ask me to recommend some French restaurants. Well at least I know where they should NOT go
Be the first to ReplyThis is an absolutely wonderful restaurant.
Everything we've tried has been lovely and the last time we were in I had the most perfectly prepared duck I've ever had. The service is lovely as well, very comfortable but you never feel ignored.
Be the first to ReplyDidn't know this place at all.
I'm glad that I tried it. I love the duck and my friend said the vegetarian dish is very good.

This was a very cozy place with great caring and respectful staff. I started off with the union soup, then a rack of lamb, It was just AMAZING. Our waitress Ana was very thorough and checked on us frequently. We enjoyed our time there. I would recommend this place for anyone on a romantic date or if you want to have a sit-down meal with the whole family. You won't be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is amazingly delicious.
I was pleasantly surprised. My now go to for authentic French cuisine.
Be the first to ReplyAn excellent restaurant run by an exceptional chef.
My wife and I have dined at Le Petit Bistro twice and each time we considered it a treat. The food and service was top notch and it's very clear that Jean-Michel is a very talented and creative chef who pays attention to the details. On our first visit, I called ahead to inquire if they served ratatouille and Jean-Michel explained that it was a seasonal dish, but he prepared this for us in spite of it being out of season. It was delicious like everything else we ordered. The servers were friendly and attentive and the ambiance was perfect for relaxed dinner conversation. It's a wonderful restaurant and I look forward to returning with friends!
Be the first to ReplyA fantastic place to dine.
Amazing flavors. Lovely atmosphere. Stellar wait staff. Excellent choice for a special occasion! I highly recommend this restaurant if you are a fan of authentic French cuisine. Absolutely delicious
Be the first to ReplyFirst time trying escargot and I was pleasantly delicious.
The filet was cooked to perfection and it just melted away! Service was okay but it was nice the chef came out himself to tell us the specials. Overall would recommend and come back to try the other dishes prices were reasonable as well.
Be the first to ReplyAn absolute 5 star gem.
We felt like were in a French bistro in France! I had the filet mignon. Perfectly cooked. The service was excellent. You do need a reservation. We will come here often and enjoy this little place of "France"
Be the first to ReplyGreat French onion soup.
Great service, Great experience. The owners were so very nice & helpful.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely amazing restaurant.
I went there by myself the past week, when the power was out all throughout Mountain View just looking for a bite to eat. Walking in, there was candles lit on every table, while all through Mountain View was windy and empty. Only had 5 bucks on me, and I said that I just would like to buy some bread for the table since everything was a little out of my price range. The hostess, Aileen, was super sweet, and helpful and ended up giving me more than enough bread, and it was light and fluffy. I also received some complimentary French Onion Soup, which paired excellently with the bread. Another patron inside the restaurant noticed my interactions with Aileen, and it turns out that they were friends. She offered to buy me an entree, and I graciously accepted. I got the pork tenderloin, and it was divine. Ended up having an amazing 3 course meal for 5 dollars. 10/5 stars! Would definitely recommend.

Le Petit Bistro is my mother's favorite restaurant, and we have been coming here at least twice a year - for her birthday and for Mother's Day - for many years. Yesterday we celebrated her 84th birthday here again, and she loved it. There was a huge power outage in Mountain View, but the restaurant remained open and was full on a Tuesday night, and we had a very nice candlelight dinner. The food was delicious as always, and the service efficient, attentive and friendly. Many thanks to Aline and Jean-Michel for making my mother feel special on her birthday!

Please exercise caution if you plan to dine at this restaurant. The staff can be extremely rude and impolite, often leaving customers waiting at their tables for 5-10 minutes even when an appointment has been made and service requested. Additionally, it's worth noting that a 20% tip is mandatory, despite the subpar service.

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant during Valentine's Day with my wife. The staff was incredibly unfriendly and unaccommodating. It was quite disappointing to see how unprofessional they were. To top it off, the food was not good at all - the restaurant needs to improve the quality of the food to match the price they are charging. We were really looking forward to a nice romantic dinner, but we left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed.

Every disappointment on the valentine dinner we booked at this restaurant. We waited more than half a hr after seated to get the menu. The waiters were rude. The taste did not match the price we paid. Will never visit again.
Be the first to ReplyMy girlfriend and I came to this restaurant for dinner on
My girlfriend and I came to this restaurant for dinner on Valentine's Day night in 2023. I made a reservation for 8pm two weeks in advance and called once more to confirm the location. This restaurant is a very small bistro with not many seats and the entrance reception is in the lobby. We walked to the reception desk and waited for a long time. There were three waitresses and one male waiter who saw us waiting at the door, but no one greeted us. After being ignored for about five minutes, I stopped the male attendant and was able to get a seat. Interestingly, when I sat down, we found several pairs of white diners who were greeted as soon as they entered, without any wait. After sitting down, I noticed that the table was dirty, with lots of bread crumbs and dust, and I offered the two waitresses, one after the other, that the tablecloth was dirty and to wipe it for us. No one paid any attention to us. One of the waitresses served the bread without saying a word and left without looking back. After that, I asked one of the waitresses that we needed some extra napkins, and after she agreed, we waited for a long time and no one came back to give us napkins. So I had to walk to the counter myself and ask them for paper. Then a waitress served us cutlery and bread. After eating the bread, I noticed that the steak knife I was served was dirty and had a lot of stains on it which was very sticky. So I asked for a new steak knife, and a waitress (who seemed to be the manager) came over to help me change the knife. I complained to this manageress about my experience and she rudely interrupted me without listening and said to change our tablecloth even though it was not what I asked for. After they took away our tablecloths, they threw two large white sheets of paper randomly on our table as tablecloths. Meanwhile, all the other tables had normal tablecloths on them. We felt offended and voiced our displeasure, so the manageress told us to switch to another table. When we got to the other table and we were eating, we found out that we were not provided with forks, so we had to ask them for forks again.Food wise, they only have four choices on the menu for Valentine's Day, appetizers and desserts are fixed, and there are four choices of beef, lamb, fish and duck for the main course, with prices ranging from $105 to $125. But their food is not at all worthy of the price. The pre-dinner bread was hard and didn't have much flavor. There was no choice for the appetizer, which was a small bowl of lobster bisque with some salad. The lobster bisque was salty and didn't have any lobster meat in it, just a bowl of brine. The salad had a simple oil and vinegar dressing and looked like it was bought from costco and thrown on the plate. For the main course, the steak was okay, the medium rare we ordered was cooked right, and the side dishes were okay. The steak was about the $35-$45 level of the outside restaurants. My duck was very old and not much seasoning. It tasted like the $20 roast duck meat at a Chinese restaurant. There were two choices for dessert, apple pie and cheesecake. The apple pie was about the level of any apple pie you can get in any American supermarket. The cheesecake was also awful and not much different from the supermarket. When my girlfriend was halfway through the cheesecake, she put her fork down and found a big soft black mold on the bottom of the cheesecake. We shone a flashlight and took a lot of pictures as evidence after confirming that it was mold. I raised my hand to the waiter and he came over and I said there were obvious black mold spots on the bottom of the cake. He brought the cake into the back kitchen and luckily we took pictures as evidence. Here comes the climax. After five minutes, a tall chef came out of the back kitchen with a chef's uniform full of stains, or aged stains. The chef was furious and told me that it was grilled pecan, and I said that grilled pecan couldn't be that color, it should be hard coffee colored particles. I cook and bake a lot myself, there is no way I can't tell the difference between grilled pecan and mold. He suddenly disliked me with particular anger, saying that he had been making cakes for forty-five years and could make them with his eyes closed. His exact words: "You are wrong. I am right. You are wrong. I am always right. The most outrageous thing is that he very, very proudly said: "You should be grateful that I serve you tonight". I was shocked, how he had the face to say such words, he repeated two or three more times. After that, he said that other cake slice also had this on it. I said, "Then show me the ingredients, or find another cake with the same black spots. He stopped talking and went into the kitchen. After that I found the male waiter, who seemed to be the owner or manager or something, because I saw him taking a glass and pouring a glass of wine for himself while serving. I said to him, you tell this dessert chef to give me an apology b
Be the first to ReplyWe had another wonderful meal on Saturday for date night.
Jeanmichele, thank you so much for the wonderful food and wine. Our appetizers (escargot and mousse de foie) were excellent, the salad was perfect and lightly dressed, my duck entre was one of the best I have had and my wife raved about her vegetable puff pastry. I don' think we will ever be able to pass up the tarte tartin. We are happy to travel further from home to get our taste of France in Mt. View. Our visit left us looking forward to our next date night with you and your great staff.
Be the first to ReplyI really enjoy the service and ambience of this restaurant.
The owner is so sweet and has excellent service. The food is good, the biggest escargot in town. The wine was great! the duck was a bit overdone but the taste was excellent.

A petite hole in the wall in the best way! We've driven past this small restaurant on El Camino countless times without seeing it. Once we stopped, we've been back multiple times having tasted a delightful menu of authentic French cuisine. Intimate ambience, affordable prices and white tablecloth settings. Helpful hint: ask for additional bread to soak up all the fabulous sauces that go with the dishes.

Went here to try it based on a high recommendation from a friend. Ordered the duck liver pate, escargot, and coq au vin.Duck liver pate was perfect: not too salty with beets, cornichons, and olives that went well with the pate mousse. Came with warm bread and a garlic aoli sauce; they ran out of butter that was imported from France but was still decent - 4/5Escargot tasted phenomenal from the buttery pesto sauce to the tender meat. One shell was empty and after we told the waitress the chef so kind as to give us 2! - 5/5The coq au vin was the final dish, and as a personal favorite traditional French dish, was excited to try it. Unfortunately, immediately upon tasting it, the chicken was immensely salty and lacked a good wine flavor. Extremely disappointed with how it turned out - 2/5Overall the escargot was the highlight, but the coq au vin lowered my hope of coming back to try their fillet mignon Steak au poivre
Be the first to ReplyWent here on a Saturday evening with a reservation.
This is such a lovely restaurant that looks almost like a gallery. The menu has plenty of options (there're some special items written on the whiteboard on the wall as well!) and we ordered snails, duck liver, the dish with tenderloin pork, and Portobello mushroom in puff pastry. I love their bread with the butter/sauce yet we waited for quite a long time for the entree (there's only one chef). To me both entrees are kinda salty especially the sauce, but I like the visual of all four dishes! The staff/server would speak in French for some words which I found interesting.
Be the first to ReplyDuck very authentic french glaze in skillet oil preparation.
Roast Duck. Best in my search for the best prepared duck crispy with flavored sauce... orange or cherry.
