Le Petit Bistro Rhinebeck Reviews from The Last Year
Unbelievably disappointing experience.
The food has really gone downhill. This used to be great. The owner was rude to us. The food was ghastly but we were too intimidated by the angry owner to say anything. Avoid at all costs...
Not worth your time
Despite them advertising vegetarian options, I found this request to be frowned upon. I was made to feel like a nuisance due to a dietary restriction. We were shoved into a corned and the tables are so ridiculously close together that we couldn’t hear ourselves talking. The people next to us had an equally bad experience and we could hear their conversation better than our own. For the cost that they charge, try Mirabeau or The Amsterdam and give yourself some elbow room. You wont be rushed there either. Obviously the bistro is looking to turn tables rapidly and not provide an enjoyable dining experience. The young untrained wait staff continually interrupts you and doesn’t know the etiquette of serving or service.
My favorite restaurant.
My favorite restaurant. Excellent food and service. I am a local Rhinebeck area resident; food is consistently good. This is our go to place for our wedding anniversary.
Mediocre. Don’t bother.
Food used to be good. Mediocre at best. There are so many better options in town. Used to love this place but the last few times we went it went downhill.
Antisemitic owner.
Published hateful post using F word to describe everything in the current conflict except for Hamas. If you like your food prepared by someone with so much hate in them this is your place.
Hate-filled atmosphere.
Avoid at all costs. Absolutely disgusting! Please see referenced photo for proof of the garbage you're supporting by patronizing this place.
Horrible establishment.
Will never return! The owner is despicable and no one should set foot in here.

The food and service were atrocious and I will never ever come back! Also, the owner seems to think he can survive without any Jews as customers with his wildly disgusting public statements. Hope that strategy works out for ya!
The owner hates Jews.
Would rather eat at McDonald's then give any of my hard earned Jewish money to an antisemitic prick
Everything about this restaurant is bad.
Bad service, bad food, bad owner. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else!

The owner of this place is a nazi who hates anyone who isn't like him. I'd be afraid to even walk into the place. Absolutely reprehensible and frightening. I'd probably get poisoned.
just bad all around.
their prices are so high and the food is sub par. not worth the effort plus the owner is an antisemite.
Deeply anti semitic.
do not eat. Openly posts hateful messages on instagram denouncing Jews. The food was never that great. The service was always terrible. Now it turns out they are super hateful.

Terrible restaurant! I found a hair in my food and they would not let me change my order or comp me for my meal. On top of the food being very bland, the service is awful. If I could give it negative stars, I would.
Great
We had a great time! Our waitress Rachel was fabulous, really made our night. She was attentive, so fast, and kind! Overall a great experience!

We were a party of 14 squeezed together in a small-ish restaurant - you know, when you worry about if there will be enough room on the table for things. Initial concern was thrown out the window and we never looked back. Rachel and Jessica watched over us and we never got a chance to ask for a water refill or have to hail them down for a drink order, napkin request, etc. They may have had eyes in the back of their heads and were seamless in delivery, without being on top of us. And then the food....we are particular, not picky. I got nothing. Not only was everything delicious but it was all cooked perfectly to our varying orders. This place has the best location in town but it relies on great food, service and a super friendly warm vibe. I tip my hat to them.

There's a reason why this restaurant has so many regulars and is so popular among local people. Le petite will consistently deliver a five star experience. The food and drinks are excellent. I've had many meals there and they've all been good. No matter what you choose, You can't go wrong. But What really puts it over the top for me is the people that work there. Not only are they nice and attentive, They are very knowledgeable and excited to be there. It makes for a really nice dining experience. The quaint cozy atmosphere is Perfect for a romantic night out
Reservation process needs improvement
Made an online reservation using Resy or Open Table for Friday at 6pm (a busy time); we arrived at 5:55 We didn’t notice that we had made the reservation for dinner sitting at the bar. Okay, this was my error, but I was upset and made it clear to the host that we wanted an inside table; he said he couldn’t do it. I told the host that we didn’t want to sit at the bar. I stepped outside with my party to discuss it and then we came back inside at 6:03 and the host had given away our 6pm bar reservation. Clearly to me, the host had decided he wasn’t seating me that night. Also, I’ve never seen a restaurant allow booking of bar seats online. In my experience bar seating is first come first serve at most places. This place needs to improve its reservation process and/or its host.
Food is ok.
Service is terrible. We waited for 20 min for bread and over 1 hour for food, no one ever came up and said why its taking so long, but instead, when we brought it up, we were educated what it means to be in a fine dining restaurant. It really seemed like a joke and we never heard any positive words from manager.
Management attitude needs to change

Absolutely amazing!! I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Starting off the meal with warm bread and whipped butter set the tone for the meal. Raw oysters are a must for me when I dine out because of the numerous health benefits that I cannot prepare at home. Next, we had the most delicious steak tartare I have ever had. The photo speaks for itself. Lastly, we shared Ropa Vieja and it was so delicious. The shredded beef had the perfect flavor profile, basmati rice was cooked to perfection, plantains brought me back to when I visited Costa Rica and the beans left that cozy feeling in my belly. Absolutely wonderful!! I cannot wait to come back and have the best time! Our server was lovely!

The best of upstate NY
This exactly the meal we were looking for when visiting Rhinebeck for the holidays. The perfect small quaint French theme restaurant. The mussels are the best. Top notch service. I will go back again.
Fantastic server!
Two couples enjoyed our recent evening at Le Petit Bistro. The drinks list was very inventive and delicious. To start, 3 of us had salads, which were superb. One person had oysters on the half shell. Entrees selected included steak tartare, risotto, swordfish, and pork schnitzel. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The schnitzel would have had a better presentation if, instead of a single huge piece or pork covering the red cabbage and mashed potatoes entirely, it had been cut into two pieces and placed aside the red cabbage and potatoes. Although it tasted fine, it was one of the worst presentations I've seen at a fine dining restaurant. My husband and I split two small scoops of sorbet for dessert; our friends split an order of blackberry pavlova. Wine list was solid. Our server was fantastic.
Let me first say we had a wonderful waitress today!
Let me first say we had a wonderful waitress today! (Reading through other reviews It seems I'm not the only person with the food preparation issues, and the manager who does not know how to handle these matters in a professional manner) Regrettably, during our recent visit with friends from France, two of us opted for the mussels. To our dismay, the mussels served were alarmingly gritty in texture. This experience fell significantly short of our past experiences. Mussels are filter feeders, and if they are not properly cleaned and purged, they contain debris which is what happened to ours. We had a lovely waitress who suggested alternative menu items, because of time I just opted for a croissant. The experience quickly soured. The manager decided to passive aggressively intervene, attempting to lecture our table about our dissatisfaction with the mussels. She adamantly claimed they were perfectly fine, even saying the grit/debris can be detected by looking at the mussels. When I stated you would have to eat them not just look at them, her narrative abruptly shifted to a self-assured, "I ate them, and they were fine!" Our group collectively felt unjustly accused of dishonesty. I'm not sure if we will ever return, it was such a shame because we loved going there but the experience has left us with a real sour taste. It is important for a business to handle situations where customers send back seafood due to clear issues with filtration without resorting to berating them and attempting to shift blame.
Always a pleasure to eat here.
Food is excellent, atmosphere is lovely and service is great.
Good food, friendly staff, but slow.
Good food, nice wine list all at good prices. The staff was all very friendly and helpful, when they got the chance. It did seem though that the staff was stretched very thin. Food did come out of the kitchen quickly but at other times we had some long waits. Not necessarily our waitresses fault, she had a large number of tables to care for. This was not high season, give yourself plenty of time once the leaves start to change color.
Well Worth a Visit
Atmosphere - 5. Service - 5. Food - 5. Prices - 4. Our oysters, mussels and duck were all very good. Jennifer took good care of us. Seems to attract a lot of locals not just tourists.

I enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, the ambience and the staff. The mussels as the appetizer in the celery broth sauce was excellent and the lamb chops were delicious. For dessert, the vanilla ice cream was great. The coffee was fantastic. I would recommend this restaurant to family and friends. Just make sure you have a reservation. Keep up the good work and enjoy the day and the rest of the summer.
Came in on a Saturday night for oysters and drinks.
The place was packed. We had no reservations, but we got seats at the bar. The oysters were delicious. But the service is what really makes this place shine! They knew their stuff about the oyster varieties and their drink menu. When my fiancée wasn't enjoying what she ordered to drink, the bartender noticed and worked with her to make something different that she'd enjoy more (and succeeded with flying colors!). Even though it was crowded it felt like we were the only people in the place. I will definitely be back for dinner!
Amazing food and drinks
One of the best places to go for an absolutely delicious meal! Our server Mauro was absolutely informational on all wines that paired well with my dinner. The espresso martini is a complete must! We went for our 5 year wedding anniversary.
Visited 7/15/23.
Eclectic menu. My husband's cocktail was well-made and generous. Food quality was excellent. Salads were well-made. I had grilled bluefish, one of the specials. The fish was done perfectly; simple but tasty. The sides (greens and mashed potatoes) were excellent, too. Others in our party liked their dishes, too. The service was attentive, but it took a long time for the main courses to come out after we had cocktails and salads. It is a bit noisy and expensive, but we would return.

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕

Might depend on what market you're in? Some have not been developed yet and some are still growing. Make some reservations ahead of time and post them for sale and get ahead of the bot bids? IDK.

I totally agree with you. I’ve had the same thought and issues. But there’s no way to stop it as far as I know, unfortunately. I was worried this was going to happen and apparently it has😞
