I really can't state how much I love the staff at this restaurant and they go beyond and above in their attempts to please. Largely the food was massively inconsistent and frankly out of date. Let me get to the out of date part first, this reminded me of going to one of the Michelin star restaurants in the 2000's, since than French cuisine has evolved and thankfully simplified to some degree. There's no longer these 30+ flavors on one dish or took precedent over the conception of the dish. This restaurant definitely didn't get that message and it became an issue course to course. I went with the tasting menu with the wine pairing, which either way the wine paired well. First up were the two amuse-bouche's which one was to cleanse your pallet with something to elevate your taste buds and one bring them down to 0 and be fully prepared for the meal, which definitely served their purpose. The first course, I had to ask the waiter how to eat properly which was composed of raw scallops in a very tasty sauce, he told me eat the individual pieces and than mix it. I tried it his way and it didn't really work for me as a dish, it was much much better combined together (this would be a continued theme through the meal). It was good but wasn't delicious, it was average at best. The second course was this mushroom ravioli dish that must have been one of the finest I have ever eaten. It enlightened and enriched my senses and brought me overall joy with every bite. I'm sorry I don't have pictures but I ate it before I could get one off lol. I highly, highly, recommend this dish it was beyond excellent. The third dish was like a wildcard dish there wasn't anything technically wrong with it but it wasn't fully mindfully thought out in my mind. Mind you this is only my opinion and I can always be wrong. This chicken dish, it was perfectly cooked and I started to taste something I didn't expect that was taking over the dish, even though minor, I couldn't ignore it, this was a curry, and I love curry. It changed the dish drastically and it made me take a very drastic action at a restaurant, I had to deconstruct a dish at the table from a French chicken dish into a chicken curry using the sauce I had on hand. Now I'll even admit I went a little heavy in my deconstruction and should have left more chicken. I can only imagine the staff looking at this crazy guy with his knife tearing the dish to shreds lol (at Michelin star restaurant no less). The dish worked moderately well deconstructed but in general besides for the ravioli dish everything was all over the place and beyond chaotic. The dessert was alright but honestly by the end of the meal I was still hungry and just wanted to get out of there. I think this review might be a bit harsh but this was my experience.

Clearly the food and service are polished down to every detail. The restaurant is located on an island in the Seine, in the middle of Paris but away from the crowds. Wonderful experience and totally recommend.

.. in a small restaurant, in the very center of Paris, hidden away from the teeming crowds..Excellent food, good service, interesting decor (even the weird mirror surrounding the kitche/server food pass-through. Not on the posted menu, but grilled quail was also available, (photo) and amazing. I'll have to return as soon as possible. 2021 09 03. M1.

A lovely hidden gem of a Parisian restaurant! My husband and I shared the most finely tuned, choreographed dinner of our entire Paris trip at Le Sergent Recruteur. It's tucked down a tiny street and once you enter, you are immediately greeted by a friendly face to show you to a seat. The vibe is chic and modern while the food is gastronomical and approachable. The service was attentive, welcoming and educational. At the end of the meal, the Chef came out to each table to see how we enjoyed the dishes and even recommended a wine bar in the area that he frequents. We will never forget our dinner and experience at Le Sergent Recruteur!

We just had the most wonderful dinner ever in Paris this restaurant was amazing do not let the menu intimidate you I'm from New York and our friends are from Sydney and we are all very particular about the restaurant's that we eat in .... if you want a total gastronomic experience you have to try this place you will not be disappointed it was the best experience I have ever had at a restaurant trust me it's that's good ... we ordered off of the regular menu not the tasting menu we had and appetizer main course and 2 deserts for 4 people ... they actually brought out and extra desert and mixed fruit and chocolate tarts after dessert that were out of this world if there was such a thing as 10 stars this place would get it hands down

Awesome dinner with the best service we experienced in Paris! They showed special consideration for our language, and read all the menu choice to us. They even made special desert for my kids. My son (17 yrs old) said it was the best meal he had in France. Very good experience in a cool part of Paris!

It is obvious someone carefully chose every lovely detail here. From the golden pendant lights, soothing colors, comfortable bar stools and marble topped bar this elegant place is modern yet feels a throw back to a time when customers were treated like royalty. We were getting drenched in a torrential down pour and ducked in the first open door to wait out the rain. Lucky for us it was Le Sergent Recruteur! Immediately we were greeted by Innes, who was delightful, charming and welcoming. She suggested fabulous wines and we shared a delicious appetizer and shavings of tasty Parma ham sent out by the chef. Who came out to greet and thank us when we left. One of those rare restaurants where the staff gives with their whole heart and the food is created and served with love, imagination and copious talent.

Perfect. Champagne. An amuse bouche of carrot and butternut squash. A truffle and foie gras ravioli. Scallops, lentils and endive. Seared turbot. Lychee sorbet. Pork tenderloin with winter vegetables. Cheese platter. And desert. Cordial service. Attentive and friendly. Great ambiance.

On a what turned out to be a reasonably quiet night at the restaurant, we enjoyed a very well prepared meal. The foie & truffle raviolis where fantastic and the turbot and lamb were both cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was good but the restaurant (not the food) would benefit from a bit of tender love and care. The service was very pleasant and we felt very welcome
