I had such a great time at Liberty Public market.
My daughter lives in San Diego so we were able to take advantage of being able to have every single family member find the food of their dreams. We had vegan tofu spam musubi, pho, garlic noodles, crab sandwich, cucumber sonumomo, fries, bruschetta, chips and salsa, fruity pebble donuts, and more. Everything tasted amazing. The only bummer was that the Thai Ice Tea was super weak and undrinkable. I had an amazing oat milk latte from Parfait. From the website: Liberty Public Market first opened in 2016 as San Diego's first 7-day a week public market located in Point Loma's historic Liberty Station. Liberty Public Market is located within Liberty Station's oldest Barrack, which was once home to San Diego's Naval Training Camp. It is filled with wonderful restaurants and shops. There is indoor and outdoor eating. The entire area is so nice and right on the harbor so you can look at the water. It is close to the San Diego Airport so we watched airplane after airplane fly over us and it was so fun! I've been here a couple times and it's a nice spot to hang out because there's such a big variety of foods that you can get from here. It does get pretty crowded, and looking for parking can be a pain, but they do have a lot of spots. You have to be pretty lucky to get some seating, but again they do have a lot of tables. There are a lot of food places to choose from inside, however each stall is just so small that it gets really cramped when you're just trying to walk through to look at the booths that they have. There's not much space to wait for your orders, and you always feel like you're blocking the way no matter where you stand. Liberty Station is pretty big as well so you could take a lap around for a quick walk. It's a good way to work off what you ate. There's not just food, there are some other boutique shops on the side and some historical museums scattered around. There's plenty of things to do here so it's great for group get togethers and families.

Love going here!! Trying different foods was a great experience. The empanadas were my favorite. Can't wait to go again!

Lovely walkable indoor/outdoor space with lots of shops and food options. Tons of food options in the main interior area...there is something for everyone, including Stone Brewery for the beer lovers. Since it is very close to the airport, we decided to go straight directly from the airport as we had a few hours to kill before checking into the hotel. It was a great introduction to the area. May be a good idea to schedule this either on the way into or out of the area as it is so close to the airports. I am always cautious, but never felt unsafe parking our luggage-filled car in the lot there. Lots of free parking lots throughout the area.

This was an I interesting place! We went here to visit one restaurant and were surprise to find that it was a whole outdoor mall/shopping center. It's very spread out. There are some short term parking spots around the center. But there is also a big parking lot which is free to park in. There are big grassy fields throughout which was cool for my kids to play in. It's VERY close to the airport. So expect planes to go by frequently, like every 10 minutes as some parts of the day. I look forward to going back to see more of what's there.

I was down in San Diego this past weekend with some friends and this was our first stop. Big things for me when checking out a new place is the first, the parking. They have ample parking and its free! How amazing is that. There are plenty of different areas for seats when you get there. The weather was perfect so we grabbed a seat outside. There is a bar inside so you can grab a drink as well so that was a very nice bonus. My husband and I got the Cali burger from Rad burger, chicken slider from Fluster Cluck Chicken and a few empanadas from Parana. The Cali burger was good but just a little too much cheese. The slider my husband seemed to enjoy and said it was a little spicy. The empanadas was a little disappointing. A couple of them seemed undercooked or could've been crispier. Overall, had a good experience and definitely worth a try if you are near Liberty Station.
Be the first to ReplyLove love Liberty Public Market.
The food, shipping and overall vibes are on point. The parking is easy and the grounds are always pristine.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a must stop when in Liberty Station.
So many vendors so many options. Whatever food you want it basically available. Not only that various local vendor with different items ranging from apparel to candles are awaiting you. www will be making a conscious effort in stopping here when in San Diego.
Be the first to ReplyI love this place, great for grabbing lunch.
You can get your lunch & take it to the grass fields nearby for a picnic or snag some of the provided seating in the outdoor area! The Hawaiian spot is a notable mention with the Huli huli chicken! The empanada spot is amazing, the ramen spot is good, the hot chicken spot is good! So many other honorable mentions but those are usually the go to!
Be the first to Reply"Go to the grocery store and buy better things.
Buy quality, buy organic, buy natural, go to the farmers market. Immediately, that's going to increase the quality of the food you make." ― Michael Symon Now, this has got to be the coolest farmers market I have been to. This place was once the San Diego Naval Training Center that has now revamped itself to be a marketspace for food, arts, crafts, and culture. Whatever you could possibly want to purchase, you can probably find it here. There are so many amazing stalls and if I didn't pop in after a filling lunch, it would have been amazing to buy some good eats here. It is definitely a well-loved spot for the community. Support your local artisans while soaking in some San Diego naval history!
Be the first to ReplyCool spot, chill vibes.
Lots of food and drink options for everyone. Definitely worth checking out!
Be the first to ReplyFun spot to visit while waiting for traffic to die down on
Fun spot to visit while waiting for traffic to die down on our drive back up to North County after a day of San Diego sightseeing. We tried: sushi spot, empanadas, crepes, and a candy shop for some fun sodas. Everything was tasty. On the higher priced side and plan on lots of trash bc everything is packaged to-go. Iconic San Diego spot worth a visit. Come hungry!
Be the first to ReplyA good-sized indoor food market with some other vendors.
There is a good variety of food selections; going from Italian, Peruvian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Korean, American, Japanese, Thai, Southern, and Filipino food. I'd say there's really only one spot for each ethnic food and then there's a mix of dessert spots; mini donuts, ice cream, crepes, etc. Also lots of alcohol and drinks to be able to get The upside is that these are local businesses and buying from here supports them, but on the other hand it is also on the pricier end and you may end up paying for a plate with less quantity. It's more of a fast food court type of meal anyways. Good to go eat here if you don't need something too heavy, but if you're looking to satisfy empty stomachs for the same price, I'd say go somewhere else. It's a very trendy place. The walls inside and out are artistically and beautifully decorated. It smells good, is clean inside and out, and there is a lively sense to the area. P.S. If you eat at the outdoor area, the airplanes from the airport nearby takeoff directly above every 5-10 minutes, so your ears do get rattled by the loud noises.

San Diego version of the grand central market in Los Angeles. It is a lot smaller, but it has tons of places to eat and shop. There are tons of choices from tacos, bao, cookies, desserts, and etc. there is so many choices that there is something for everyone. There is even a bar so that's amazing There is a few sections where you can shop for clothing and jewelry All in all, it's a great local place to go. Unlike the one in LA, this is super low key and doesn't have that busy vibe at all

An old US Navy training center, merely yards away from the San Diego International Airport, has been transformed into Liberty Station. Ownership came back to the city in 2000, and it has become a sprawling mecca for the arts, boutiques, and quality eateries. Our focus was on the Liberty Public Market, a sliver of a building in an otherwise massive complex. The Public Market opened in 2016 as San Diego's first all-week market. Today, it houses 39 different food and craft stalls and popped up on our radar to check out. There is a combination of indoor and outdoor seating to soak up the beautiful San Diego weather, and you can walk the entirety of its quaint style in a matter of minutes. And, as there is a lot to explore, check out all of the stalls carefully before ordering - it's a lively and colorful cacophony of sights and smells. After doing our own round, we settled on a few items we've been eager to try. For those smart enough to read up before your visit, check out their website, which has a comprehensive list of vendors and a guide. The market is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Parking was not a problem, but always leave yourself plenty of time in Southern California because you never know. As you can see, there is a variety of savory and sweet foods and drinks. Alcohol is in abundance, too. There are nooks and crannies, so look around a booth's corner or down a non-descript hallway, and you will find even more. We fell in love with the open market vibe indoors. Folks were popping in and out of stores with ease, and it was easy to come across different wares. Come prepared to shop; there are great gift items and a lot of selection. These are boutique prices, but the official website does underscore the quality of what they do. After our walk-around, we wanted to start off with a place that was most on our radar--Slurp. There are some interesting street food choices that we readily appreciate. They had roast duck options or pork belly, but our sights were set on the crab rangoon roll. This was right up my alley--it was a massive fried roll with gobs of warm cream cheese and crab--all to dip into a sweet and sour sauce. We also had their fried tofu, something to cut the overt richness of the first dish. We went on the hunt to wash this down and satisfy our thirst - coming across Chris' Ono Grinds Island Grill. We went for the refreshing pineapple mint iced tea, saving Kalua Pork for the next visit. We explored the novelty, watched what other folks were interested in, saw impromptu demonstrations of hand-rolled pasta, and then got hungry again. This time, we opted for Bao Bar. For a well-flavored and heaping Shrimp Bao Bun ~ interestingly, Bao Bar and Mama Made Thai are the same owner. Of course, sugar. We don't have a Moo Time near us, so we loaded up with two scoops of birthday cake. This ice cream is a staple in nearby Coronado, but an unfortunate update: we saw just yesterday that they are no longer at the Public Market. Things change quickly, folks--what can we say? Check before you go. Alcohol. I didn't partake but check out this impressive collection of craft beers. There is also a fully stocked bar that is quite popular. Explore. There is plenty to see and do. We stumbled across two mini-museums. One was for fabric art. The other was this awesome collection that blew me right back into the past. It was a collection of street music--rap and dance crews from the day. Yes, I had these cassettes growing up. Overall, Liberty Station has much to explore--we wish we had more time, but we are definitely coming back! Please check out allstreetsgourmand.com for more!
Be the first to ReplyBeware when you purchase alcohol from a can/bottle.
They will ask you if you're drinking it there or somewhere else. Tell them somewhere else, they will try to get you to say you're drinking there so they can charge you a 1.50 cent cork fee just for opening each can. You can open a dam can yourself.. Highway robbery.
Be the first to ReplyLiberty Public Market is decent option if you're ever in
Liberty Public Market is decent option if you're ever in the San Diego area. There are 38 vendors inside this food hall, but very minimal seating - poor design if you ask me. Also, something else to note is some of the businesses inside closed early. My family and I tried the following places:- BOPJO: KBBQ In A Bowl Or Tortilla!: Bibimbap was flavor, but very minimal meat compared to rice- Fluster Cluck Chicken: 2 chicken sliders w/fries were decent; one slider was way crispier than the other- Parana Empanadas: I order 2 BBQ Chicken, 1 Southwest Chicken, 1 Spinach, 1 24-hour beef, & a mushroom. These lacked flavor and just did not do it for me- Slurp LPM: their orange chicken and rice was the highlight of everything we tried last night. It was flavorful, the chicken was the perfect amount of crispy, tasted fresh and the oranges were a nice touch. Overall, this place had the right idea, but the execution is lacking - just my two cents.
Be the first to ReplyI hosted a foodie adventure for my MeetUp Fun Diego Ladies.
We had a great time exploring the various food vendors and sat outside in the beautiful deck to enjoy our food. It was a beautiful day! The weather was warm and the sun was out. There was live music playing to the side of us. We had such an incredible time! I definitely recommend coming here. It's a great place to hang out with friends. There are so many food options, whether you are in a mood for sushi, ramen, tacos, pizza, kabobs, pasta, crepes, burgers, empanadas, etc. All of the food vendors seemed efficient, as we all got our food quickly. I would say the max wait time was about 10 minutes. After we ate, we took a long stroll along the waterfront, which was adjacent from the food market.
Be the first to ReplyIt's a great place to go for food lovers.
There are tons of choices. Especially, a great place to go before your flight to just spend a few hours, since it is relatively closer to the airport, so could be a nice place to just stop by and chit chat.
Be the first to ReplyNice place with various options to eat.
Needs more maintenance inside but everything else great. 4.5

This public market is a must see when visiting SD! I fell in love with the vibe, and incredibly wide selection of international food choices. From seafood (sushi/Peruvian/lobster) to Filipino cuisine, Soul Food, Mexican, French...you name it. It was packed for a 3-day weekend on a Saturday, so don't expect your food to be ready ASAP. Instead buy a fun drink to chill for ~30mins, and sit-back and relax in the indoor or outdoor dining areas. Had a blast and can't wait to come back! In addition to food & drinks there are plenty of shops selling souvenirs/clothes/art etc.

Had a couple hours to kill while waiting for my friend's plane. LOVE this place. Good food and fun vendors. Bought some handmade earrings to give as gifts. Would definitely stop here again if I'm in the area.

The Liberty Public Market has 37 vendors dishing up diverse food options. We came around 10AM to explore the surrounding park, and entered the food hall around 1115AM (most of the eateries open at 11AM). We tried Weapon Ramen and Fluster Cluck Chicken (see my reviews on these places) based on browsing the menus of the different vendors. Delicious! We were planning to eat at more vendors but were so full after the above two that I needed a nap. Please note, I assume the vendors have to pay a fee to be here because everything was more expensive than I expected. For example, the Parisian pastry place that I had thought of trying was selling small slices of cafe for $10 each. The above ramen and fried chicken were actually quite reasonable for the location.Restroom was clean with multiple stalls. Many outdoor and indoor seating areas. Dogs are permitted outdoors, but we saw people bring their dogs inside the food hall even though the signs said no animals allowed. Parking was easy and free with multiple lots. I read online there was a 3hr limit, but I did not see any signs stating a time limit. When we left at 1PM, the giant lot across the street still had tons of spaces.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing!! Great service and food :) will come again.
I tried the jasmine earl grey and it was incredible. Tastes fresh and well made.

Cute little location filled with a lot of history - Did you know it was an old boot camp for naval Sailors?!?! I didn't! Frequented San Diego for 3 years and never even knew this place existed! Either way, it was in a beautiful location and the upkeep is well maintained. The public market has a lot of food options and cute little boutiques in it as well.I definitely will be going up the place again next time I'm in town!
