Update: A guest liaison from the restaurant group contacted us to discuss the issues from our recent experience at Little Pearl. We appreciate the quick response and willingness to ensure any future experience is reflective of the high standards this team holds themselves to. I am raising my review to three stars. I am saddened to write this review. My wife and I are huge fans of Aaron Silverman; and Rose's Luxury and Pineapple and Pearl are two of our favorites in DC. We were very excited to try Little Pearl and left horribly disappointed. Food: I'm going to be blunt, the food was by far the most disappointing part of our evening. Dinner opened with a welcome bite of the Angel Eggs and a mini blooming onion. The Angel Eggs were excellent and the meringue was a unique twist on a classic. The mini fried onion was clearly a play on Outback but was underwhelming. Just sliver of fried onion and some lackluster sauce. A Pringle tasted better. The second course was a Steak Tartare with Anchovy. This was good but didn't wow. Third course was warm potatoes with trout roe. The potatoes were excellent but the trout roe didn't add anything. All you wanted to do was pop the roe to get a salty rush but they just rolled off your teeth. It was just plain annoying. The most lack luster dish was the Beef and Broccoli. It was made to be a play on late night takeout. Unfortunately despite high end beef it ended up tasting like cold cheap Chinese takeout that had been sitting a few days too long in your fridge. The triple cream cheesecake was the most impressive but if you were not a fan of bold flavored cheese it would be unpalatable. It was paired with cracker crumb, honey, and nuts all which changed the flavor profile of the cheesecake depending on how it was mixed. The Mandarin Sherbet was not enjoyable and did not pair well at all with the sesame seeds. Neither of us finished it. I am usually raving about every dish we try at his other restaurants and all we could talk about on the ride home was how dissatisfied we were. Ambiance: We ended up at a communal high table about a foot from the next couple. The rest of the tables in the restaurant were similarly close together. I heard more of the couple's conversation next to us than I could hear my wife. Fortunately, they at-least agreed how disappointing the food was. Service: Outside of not offering to take our coats, the service was excellent. Wait staff were very attentive and knowledgeable.Wine: I selected to do the wine pairing which was excellent. Our waitress recommend the standard vs. the higher end pairing which included a collection of smaller wineries from around the world. I enjoyed the wine and it was paired well with each dish. My wife is pregnant and the waitress provided her a small taste of each wine complimentary which was very thoughtful. Unfortunately the wine and service could not make up for the poor ambiance and unimpressive food. We also left hungry due to incredibly small portions and wound up eating late night bar food.
