L’ottava nota Palermo Reviews from The Last Year
Don’t bother going if you like good food or good service.
Past its prime - poor service and boring food. Wait staff was clumsy with no coordination. The risotto was bland and just bad. Horse meat tartar was a complete turn off. A huge waste of money and time.
A very very good restaurant
Very good restaurant. A perfect welcome by the staff. Explanations on the different dishes making up the menus. After explaining the menus to us, some time for reflection allowed us to make our choice. The staff is very friendly and we are given an explanation of each dish chosen, its composition, and the aromas used to make the dish. Depending on the dishes, we were advised on the wines to match the chosen dish to be taken by the glass or by the bottle according to our desires.
Didn’t live up to expectations
Very nice decor. Staff was pleasant. Service good at first then slowed to a crawl. Bread was great. Went downhill from there. Had what was advertised as rack of lamb. Turned out to be 1 chop with 4 bites. And soggy eggplant. The steak looked good. My wife’s ziti was lukewarm and drenched in white stuff. For the price, could have done much better.
Slight disappointment
It's not easy to give a balanced opinion because there is obviously a lot of art and work in this restaurant but I was still disappointed with our dinner. Alongside well-executed dishes (spaghetti) and remarkable homemade breads, there are almost failed recipes (pasty cod, without flesh or texture). The atmosphere in the room is also mixed: chic and even prim couples suffer from rubbing shoulders with tourists in fangs and thirty-somethings who dine with their caps on their heads. On the table there are a lot of frills - for example the fact of only providing a cutlery for certain dishes, and the somewhat ridiculous efforts of the waiters to balance this cutlery on a plastic knife holder. The first wine we were offered was really mediocre. So many details which give the impression of a slightly pretentious establishment, without being entirely sophisticated.
Impeccable
Exceptional dinner in an elegant yet informal setting. A round of applause for the education of all the kids in the room. The owner is a very kind and attentive person. The tasting menu ranges between meat and fish (some in my opinion excellent, others, such as turbot, normally savorable to my taste). The Iberian pig dish of the evening and homemade limoncello which should be marketed, such is its goodness. Don't underestimate the welcome entrée.
Navigating is necessary
A journey between dissonant tastes and harmonies that I took last night with my son. The shellfish and mozzarella tartare are my favourite, the duck buttons are my son's favourite. Tasting was chosen. There are seven courses. Each with a story. You are here in a starred restaurant with the costs of a good restaurant. A round of applause to the girl who accompanied us through the experience, very kind and true as my son defined her.
Great wine recommendation
We came in for a bottle of wine and appetizers and were totally impressed with the service and floored with the food. We'll be coming back for dinner another time.
Suggestive location, cozy place and dinner to remember
The success of our trip to Sicily was largely due to the author of the guide to Sicily Laertes. The author, Reyero, incredibly provided us with his email, and recommended a series of select restaurants in Palermo. It did not fail. This is a small place, on a street in Kalsa, in front of the beautiful Butera palace. A historic neighborhood near the sea, increasingly lively. Few tables, narrow menu based on fish, with imaginative proposals inspired by traditional cuisine. Great tuna tartare and mullet with foie. Average price, adequate for the quality. We will return to treat ourselves to the tasting menu (I think about 100 euros).
Even after a decade...sounds good!!!
I hadn't been back for 9 or 10 years. I had a memory and that's what I found: kindness, quality. If I really had to make a note for a place like this I would aim, as I also remembered last time, to improve the wine list (in the sense of enriching it). But honestly it's hard to make notes. If you want a taste experience in a place that is NOT sophisticated but elegant.... choose to PLACE this NOTE.
Always better
We returned to this restaurant after a few years and found the same sensations as the last time: everything excels. The refined environment excels; the service excels, courteous but not affected; Above all, the food excels. Never excessive, delicate flavors characterize the courses (first, second and dessert). Restaurant certainly ready for new prestigious awards.
We had no reservation but they were able to seat us
We had no reservation but they were able to seat us immediately. Interestingly, they open at 8 at night. Both food and service were good. We tried their tasting menu service and it was good. If you are visiting Palmero, it's recommended by me at least. They are very attentive to their customers. Food was good and a little salty at times for our taste but acceptable. Wine pairing was ok because the red wine has a little bitter taste I don't like. The bubble was the other hand was a pleasant surprise to me. Overall, I would recommend to try it but it's going to cost you over 100€ per person. Considering some popular restaurants in the States, I think they are still a little cheaper.

I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

You should probably cancel prior to the cancellation date per the cancellation policy. I would imagine you would only get reimbursed for a sold listing if you happen to be charged?

My first sale took about a week. But as the other commenter said stay ontop of your cancellation windows. There’s no reimbursement for those so make sure you cancel in time then just try again.
