Do not miss it!
Amazing farm to table food and wine with a Mexican flare and some Asian flavors mixed in. Go here - best meal of your life. Smoked oyster, sea bass taco in pink corn tamale, vegetarian options, goat barbacoa, wine pairing including a sake, beer, and pomegranate cocktail mixed in. Unique, creative, delicious, incredible staff! Michelin star worthy!

Lunario is exceptional. Chef Sheyla showcases her skills in dishes ranging from: smoked carrots w/feta in a creamy soup to cabrito served in an almost asian style chili oil. Each dish is balanced and perfectly seasoned. The ambiance is definitely more fine dining but staff keeps things light. Jesus, Benjamin [sommelier] and Bryan were super cool and even recommended local spots nearby. This restaurant champions farm to table and is definitely a top 3 fine dining experience in all of Mexico. Would highly recommend!

We have been here before. First time was an awesome experience. This last time was average at best. I know it’s a tasting menu but the portions were significantly smaller than our other visit. The wine pours for the pairings were very small(thimble size) with no refills. For most dishes we were finished with our wine before we finished with the food. Last time we were there there was a generous pour plus the waiter was ask if we’d care for a bit more. Also, when we were there before there were more than 5-6 wineries for the pairings. This time there were only 2. The service seemed rushed, which was odd as we were the last seating for the evening . On our previous visit the course was explained explicitly and the same with the wine pairing. This time the explanations were just rattled off with generic comments. We paid a premium price for the experience but the whole experience was average. Many other restaurants to go to in the Valley de Guadalupe. Most likely our last visit to Lunario. We had really hyped up Lunario to our special friends who had never been here. It was disappointing for all of us.

Lunario Restaurante was truly a highlight of my Valle de Guadalupe experience. As we searched in the night for our dinner spot, it appeared like a magical mirage in the dark countryside. All of a sudden, there were twinkling lights and the sound of running water as we approached a pond with waterfall, and a storybook bridge. A waiter greeted us and led us into a 7 table room, warm and intimate. We were given the choice of a 4 or 6 course prix fix meal with wine pairing. We chose the 4, which included a wonderful amuse buche of raw shrimp on a crisp cornmeal platform. We were off to a good start. A wonderful, savory butternut squash soup followed, then raw sea bass in a chilled coconut sauce with melon. A fabulous duck dish was the last course before our palate cleansing pre-dessert and then the finale featuring fried plantain, corn and other flavors. The food was elegant, fresh, and innovative. Our party was asked about our particular preferences, and were accommodated. The waitstaff were attentive, yet inobtrusive. Benjamin, the sommelier, was personable, informative, and confident. We had a delightful experience, and I can't recommend them highly enough.

Holy crap! This place was amazing. I wish it still would have been light out when we arrived, as I'm sure the grounds are lovely, but the food more than made up for the missed views. We did the larger of the two tasting menus, and I'm glad we did as the "extra" courses (scallop and octopus I think) we're our favs. That said, every course was amazing. Perfectly prepared and beautiful! The pairings were also amazing and included options beyond just wine which was great. Benjamin, the somm, was super knowledgeable and friendly. They also serve a lavender water throughout the meal which was beautiful and helped to both cleanse your palette and likely support digestion. Very unique addition. Recommend sitting at the bar/kitchen table if you get the chance so you can watch the magic happen.

My fiancé and I found out about Lunario from online research before our trip. We were very impressed with everything including the atmosphere, decor, service, wine pairing, and of course the FOOD! A bit more pricey than expected, but definitely worth it, and we would do it again. We really appreciated the staffs hospitality, knowledge, and recommendations.

We almost didn't make it to Lunario for dinner - being completely wine-d out and having a lackluster dinner at Deckman's the night before - but we managed to get our group together and we're so glad we did. The walk through the gardens to get to the restaurant is whimsically beautiful, especially at dusk when we arrived. We were greeted by name by the pond and service was wonderful the whole night through. It's either 4 or 6 course tasting menu only, along with wine pairing or a la carte beverages. Every dish was presented simultaneously to our party of 6 and everything was absolutely delicious. The menu changes every so often and we'll definitely be returning for the new menu.

Definitely One of the best restaurants in Mexico! A totally memorable experience. Everything is perfectly prepared, with the best quality ingredients, and with top of the notch service. The restaurant and setting is beautiful, rounding up a perfect dinner. I look forward in coming back everytime I am back at Valle de Guadalupe! A must-stop place.
Be the first to ReplyBest Dinner I've Ever Had in the Valle de Guadalupe
My wife and I visited Lunario for the first time this weekend. We have dined in the Valle de Guadalupe dozens of times and this was the best meal we have ever had. No exaggeration. It was fantastic. Each dish in the 6-course tasting menu was amazing. We especially loved the Tomato/beet/burata salad and the bluefin tuna/scallop aguachile dish. Everything from the homemade sourdough bread to the dessert was delicious! The wine pairings were all good and the service was exceptional. Totally worth the price. The chef/owner is a lovely young woman who clearly takes great pride in creating a special experience for diners. Can't wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent! Creative, delicious with wonderful pairings. Lovely setting.
Our party of 4 enjoyed both the 4 course vegetarian & regular menu with wine pairings. Chef Sheyla Alvarado, Sommelier Benjamin and attentive staff made our dinner marvelous, great food and excellent wine. Dietary restrictions were carefully attended to, presenting obviously different yet delicious presentations for one of us (me). One detail I especially enjoyed, a garnish of tiny, delicate, cilantro flowers. Relaxed, comfortable indoor space on a chilly evening, the outdoor spaces are welcoming too. The path exiting the outdoor space could use a little more lighting since after dinner we weren't as able to see where the steps were and stumbled a bit. Will return!

This was our favorite meal in the valley during our four night stay. The food was on pointe, the service attentive and professional and the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. Ensure that Lunario is on your list during your visit.
Be the first to ReplyLovely preset menu, excellent service, a bit pricey
We enjoyed a inside table in small but pleasant setting. The service was outstanding and six course meal was beautifully presented.

A must stop when in VDG. The food is superb, excellent service and love the fact that they pair the dishes with their local wine, which is spectacular by the way. Staff is very knowledgable and friendly. Our second time visiting VDG in one year and we knew we had to come back to Lunario. Our expectations were met and exceeded once again.

Highly recommend this restaurant! Their service and communication was impeccable even prior to our visit. They were so accommodating when our big group of 11 was running late, and made sure to still give us an excellent experience.
The food and wine pairings did not disappoint. We were absolutely blown away by each dish, and especially impressed by the attention given to the vegetarian options. If you get the chance to visit this restaurant do not hesitate- it is well worth it!
