Be human and treat everyone as human, Worst Experience Ever.
Worst Experience Ever in Munich. Food was okay but staff's attitude was very bad. We requested to sit outside but were given a response if we were 2nd class passengers and not even eligible to sit outside. We were served food on broken plate and when i requested replacement, the server gave an attitude like we made a terrible mistake. We felt insulted and unwelcomed and left immediately. Please serve and earn respect first before you serve food. Be human and treat everyone as human.
Be the first to ReplyTasty food, awesome ambience.
Hidden gem in Munich. We reached at the opening hour as the first guests of the day, we had a wonderful time. The Thali was an excellent brunch, portion size was good and delicious.
Be the first to ReplyMadam Chutneys a Good Indian Restaurant in MUNICH
We were on our way back from Oktoberfest Party in the Beer Halls to our Hotel . We stopped at Marienplatz to have dinner and walk . I think we walked for 10 mins or so and reached this famous Indian restaurant . There was some waiting of around 30 mins before we could take our seats. The food was delicious and very nicely prepared , we ate Chana Masala and Palak Paneer along with chilled beer . The entire experience was damn worth it . A good place to be for Indian food and decor .

I’m not a fan of Indian food. But this place changed my perception. I had to wait for 14 mins before the hostess showed up. She was nice, friendly and very caring.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious in a stylish & Indian atmosphere!
Delicious food at Madame Chutney in a relaxed atmosphere! Good music, fast and attentive service. The menu offers a lot - starter: the cauliflower is highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyVery good Indian food
Very good food, attentive waiters, the only criticism is the tables very close to the neighbors and the loud atmosphere.

..that doesn't elicit MADAME CHUTNEY from me. We went to Madame Chutney for street food today with great expectations. I remember the place from the old days as a bar. The interior is relatively unspectacular and unimaginative, and looked so "special" in all the photos I had seen. A few cushions, right across the furniture store's chair warehouse, Indian colors (for us Europeans) were supposed to define the place as Indian. You have to be very sure that the staff are at work, not unfriendly, but not dressed in a way that fits the place. Actually, they seemed a bit out of place. But we got our food. So, now for that. Food in street food style from punched plates and everything that we (Europeans) imagine street food to be. Basically, the food was OK, quite good, but really nothing more. At €12.50, not exactly cheap for a lunch. Any other real Indian who isn't so hyped is, honestly, better.

It's been a while since I wrote my last report. To be precise, it was in June 2021, still in the middle of the pandemic. Since then, I've been there several times. Since I'd tried one of the smaller, very loud rooms in the meantime, it was supposed to be the large dining room again. The larger tables are mostly at the edge and the tables for 2 people are more in the middle of the room. But sometimes relatively close to tables for 4-6 people. So conversations are definitely not private here. As usual, we waited obediently at the entrance, as everyone was personally instructed. The waiting area is right on the kitchen street, where dishes were constantly being carried past us. Unfortunately, the toilet for the male visitors is also on the side, who were looking for their way with wide eyes. A bit uncomfortable for both sides. The menus have also been available in German for some time. We ordered the Samosa Chaat and Papri Chaat in advance for 7.50 euros each. Both arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. The papri was a cold dish and rather mild. It consists of wheat chips, lentil croquettes, mint-tamarind chutney and yoghurt. It tasted good, but didn't blow me away this time. The samosa chaat are a different version of the usual dough pieces. They are cut or pulled into small pieces and served covered with chickpea curry and yoghurt. There are homemade chutneys on top. This dish was medium spicy. Unfortunately, this time it wasn't as good as on our last visit, the samosa was too soft. The main courses arrived just 20 minutes after the first dishes were served. My husband had chosen Chana Bhatura (16.50 euros). This is a vegan dish consisting of deep-fried bhaturas, something like paper-thin bread. It was served with spicy chickpeas and Indian pickled onions. A very simple dish in terms of taste with 2 mild breads and relatively few chickpeas. It tasted good, but not worth repeating. The Awadhi Chicken Korma (16.50 euros) is a chicken tikka with spices, yogurt and cashew nuts, served with rice. Unfortunately, the meat was of rather poor quality. In fact, I only found one piece that tasted remotely like meat. Overall, the sauce was nice and thick and well seasoned and slightly spicy. On a positive note, the prices are roughly the same as in 2021. The water costs 6.50 euros, a mango spritzer (0.4l) costs 4.50 euros. Unfortunately, there was too much ice. One cube would have been more than enough. The service was very friendly, fast and attentive.
Be the first to ReplyGreat price - performance, nice ambience
Really great place with super good food. Absolutely good value for money. If you love Indian cuisine, it is highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyUnnecessarily hyped
Unnecessarily hyped through social media in my opinion. Unfriendly waiters who acted as if they were doing us a favour. Extremely slow service. The so called Chole Bature came with a soggy thick blob of flour which was oozing oil, which looked nothing like a Poori/Bature. When asked we were told that they serve it this way. Taste of the other dishes were OK. I am happy for the others who had a good experience but for us it's a no go and we won't be going there again.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious lunch menu!
Their lunch menu is delicious! It is kid friendly. It is most times busy and crowded and it's good to account for some delay in the seating and service. Delicious food and an exciting place to try!
Be the first to ReplyAwful experience
Very rude and disrespectful behaviour of the staff. I have never seen so rude staff in whole of the Germany. Would not like to go any more again.
Be the first to ReplyWill dine for food but not paying tips
Food is great but not open to the idea of demanding tips. It’s very much aliken to the US tipping culture if you use their card payment
Be the first to ReplyGreat indian food and amongs the best in munich for me
Very good flavor and authentic dishes. Only the ice cream was not my cup of tea but the rest all tasty and would recommend it!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Indian!
Excellent food and great ambience. The starters were particularly good. Only down side was that the service was a bit slow. Will definitely return on my next trip to Munich.
Be the first to Replybusy and nice for group dinners
This restaurant is in the center of Munich, so no parking available, public transportation is recommended. Unfortunately is underground so no windows and strong smell of spices.
Menu well presented and available also in english.
Main courses are very well portioned and well presented.
Spices are enough balanced and not too strong.
unfortunately the desserts are not well presented and not assembled, is better not to offer desserts if not very well presented.
Aesthetic Indian Restaurant.
The ambiance is good. Id say fancy. The service is super. I had a very good experience eating here. The food taste very good we ordered garlich and cheese Naan, Tandoori Chicken & Lamb. A bit pricey but its normal Munich price.
Be the first to ReplyReally bad indian food. No flovours. Dont think they have an indian cook
The food was really bad. Being an indian-german I can tell you the food had litte to do with authentic indian food. There were no flavours. Its like some white boy was cooking :-). All the positive reviews must be from people who never had really good indian food... we ordered a lot of stuff e.g.:
- Pani Puri: it was like salt water. You can buy a Pani Puri pack of Haldiram from an indian store and it packs in 10 time the flovous of what was servered.
- Chat: was ok
- Pav bhaji: the only thing that had the flavours
- Chicken Malia: chicken overcooked and hard. The sauce no indian flavour
- Panner wrap: again nothing to do woth indian flovours. You could have it at any other food stand or buy it in Rewe/ Edeka.
If you want great indian food go to Swagat. Its the best authentic indian restaurant in Munich.
