Hip restaurant in the trendy district!
We had two seats at the bar. Delicious cocktails as starters: truffle croquettes with Manchego filling and ceviche. Bread was only available on request. For the main course we had the grilled octopus which was unfortunately a bit burnt and very over-seasoned. There were no side dishes or bread to tone down the seasoning. So it was a bit disappointing. Prices were normal for New York, however we wouldn't go again.

My daughter brought me here for a Sunday brunch and we shared an amazing afternoon. Sit at the bar and let Kellyé take care of you! Great food, great drinks and great company. Thanks madre team and Kellyé!

Last night we had an incredible treat. Having had the luck to travel around the world and the opportunity of eating in many splendid restaurants Madre I decided is one of the best. There were 4 of us and between us we sampled 11 different dishes. The food was light well balanced and the freshness and flavour shone through. We finished with an almond cake pineapple and cream desert that provided a fitting end to our evening. Fine dining without a fine price
Be the first to ReplySome disappointment
We were here for an extended family dinner. The food and service was excellent. But there was some disappointment over the wine. Fine wine is a passion of mine. I am fond of Riesling an ordered a one from Empress Estate from the finger lakes district of Bew York state, an unusual choice but I had tried one a few weeks earlier because of a past visit to the beautiful area, and it was excellent. The waiter poured a small sample for me to taste, and it was quite yellow in pouring, and on tasting clearly oxidized. The waiter said words to the effect that this was the “style” of the wine and suggested that there was no fault with it. I said I did not want it because and he said he would ask the sommelier to come over and explain it to me. The sommelier argued that it was the style and he had opened about 160 of them and they were all the same and people liked them. Eventually he agreed to change and we had a very good Austrian Riesling. I was upset that I had to argue the point and that the points put forward by the staff were in my opinion not valid and simply driven by not incurring the cost of replacing what is not an expensive wine. Why ask a patron to taste and then put them through this experience?
Be the first to Replyvegans and vegetarians beware!
Cute and aesthetic, that's why my 2 girlfriends and I stopped by after a yoga class. 2 out of 3 of us are vegan/vegetarian and there aren't many options for that kind of food. The veg entreé was literally ONE stalk of asparagus chopped up into quarters with some puffed rice on top- under 5 bites for $22 (we were hungry after). Not really sure how that dish was listed as anything besides an appetizer and even at that it would be quite sad. The market salad was just bitter greens with no flavor. Anyway, my non-veggie friend enjoyed her chicken entreé. The side of brussel sprouts was really good as well. I'd maybe go for a drink again but definitely not for dinner- there are too many fantastic restaurants in the area that I'd rather go to and support.

Be the first to ReplyGreat creative bartender/mixologist
Stopped in for a nightcap and was thoroughly captivated by Jay, the man behind the bar! He made me his creation, a Daaaaam Smokey, very nice scotch concoction with smoked rosemary hovering over the rim of the glass. Recommended a lovely Red for my wife, and provided informed, interesting conversation throughout our visit. Great ambiance, food, and service here. Essence of a creative, local, progressive restaurant/bar with laid back expertise. Check it out!

I cannot give MADRE a high enough review. Excellent atmosphere, out of this world service, along with a delightfully creative and well-crafted menu. My significant other and I were treated like royalty during our meal, and each course was even better than the last. My personal favorite was the vanilla gelato with the huckleberries and huckleberry sauce, while the lemongrass gin cocktail was a close second. Everything went excellently with the agnolotti pasta (which with the croquettes may have been a religious experience). Additionally, every part of this Michelin star-worthy menu is priced beyond reasonably. I cannot say enough how much we loved our experience here at MADRE, and I hope to return soon!
