Refined taste
We had the Omakase dinner set - 3 starters, 2 mains and 1 dessert. Seafood and meat were done very well, with refined taste and well paired with seasonal vegetables of white asparagus. Good value for money. Worth repeat revisits.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Food and Service
The lobster risotto was excellent. The lobster was not overcooked, and the risotto was done just right and was flavorful. I ordered the burrata as a starter. It was very good although the portion was a bit small. We were the only table during lunch. Pity that it did not attract the office lunch crowd there.
Be the first to ReplyA Fabulous Night Out!
Fabulous night at Mag's Wine Kitchen on Friday night. We had 5 degustation menus, one vegetarian and four non. In summary, the food was exquisite, the wine tops and the attention from Mag, Eric and her team to us 11/10. Starting with the vegetarian menu, the Capellini truffle, White Asparagus with miso mustard, Cauliflower Steak with walnut caper salsa and Earl Grey Creme Brulee (teh tarik, anyone?) dishes were outstanding with a particular shout out for Mag's creativity for the Cauliflower Steak. On the non-veg, we loved the Hungarian duck, the exquisite Uni with soba and yuzu dashi, White Asparagus with guangiale, Wagyu ribeye and the Creme Brulee. The Badia Antinori Chianti (thank you for the recommendation, Eric) was sumptuous. And of course the ever attentive, Chef and Owner, Mag who had time in between cooking, serving and supervising to fill us in with snippets of helpful information on the dishes and the origins of the ingredients.
Be the first to ReplyA lovely lunch experience to remember!
My friend frequents Mag's whenever he hosts close friends. He goes back again and again, and I had the opportunity to join him for a weekend lunch. I now understand why. My experience here was fantastic. This unpretentious local owned eatery is top notch to say the least. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the open and relaxed ambience. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. When you meet Mags, the owner and chef who is equally affable, you will understand why good service runs through the restaurant. The food was simply amazing. Between the 4 of us, we had the: Lobster bisque Octopus with tomato and chorizo coulis, squid ink aioli octopus. Seabass with butter caper sauce. King fish with eggplant caviar, mushroom sauce vierge. Boston lobster risotto with asparagus, sage brown butter Grain fed tenderloin, mashed potatoes, buttered spinach, veal jus Chocolate tart, mango espuma, popping candy Poached pear They were all delicious: beautifully presented, perfectly well-balanced, and cooked to perfection. I will definitely be returning soon.

The octopus and lobster risotto was amazing. First class. The service was good and efficient and it was truly a lovely dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyExquisite and Amazing
Spoiled for choices, it is hard to decide which quaint restaurant should I visit. Looking at my wish list of restaurants in heritage area, I finally decide on Mag’s Wine Kitchen because the food looks really good and there are lots of choices for each section. The Starters of Crab takes my breath away at first bite. It is so amazingly good. And I’m amazed by the generous portion of crab. The dollop of crab meat mixed with light mayonnaise is made up of at least eighty percent fresh, umami rich, succulent crab meat. The mustard added within introduces hints of sharp hot flavour for complexity in taste and to accentuate the rich briny flavour of the crab. Truffle vinaigrette adds a splash of earthy luxe to the taste. Trout roe are pops of sea essence that goes perfectly with the crab meat. The lightly salted, roasted cabbage is surprisingly good too. Served warm and fresh, with super soft fluffy centre and crunchy rind, this bread, which is full of wholesome flavours of wheat, gets the thumbs-up from me. Good when eaten with butter, and still good when eaten on its own. And I like the cute sack it is served in. Jamon Serrano is packed with smoky, salty and nutty flavours. And the gherkins refresh the palates to better enjoy the dry-cured ham. Best enjoyed with good company. I had written in lots of my previous posts that lobster is usually bland and tough. Well, I take back my words the moment I bite into a piece of lobster meat here. It is unbelievably good, and should be the golden standard on how lobster should be prepared. The semi rare lobster is succulent, juicy, bouncy yet easy to bite on. Each nicely cut pieces is packed with flavours of the sea. Best to eat together with the creamy saffron risotto with butter to appreciate the complexity in taste and texture. Both the chocolate cake and ice-cream are very rich in taste and smooth in texture. The foamy mango espuma makes a difference to add flowery aroma and hints of tangy flavour to balance the richness of the chocolate. A nice extra touch to the dessert. The place is very posh but cozy at the same time. Yes, it’s possible. I was greeted by a modern open kitchen the moment I stepped into the restaurant, and then I was led to the hidden classy dining area at the back. I like this layout, it feels intimate. The service is very good and professional. Despite me sort of hiding at a corner, the service staff makes it a point to check every now and then if I need anything. This is one of the best restaurants I have patronized in recent times. The food is really, really good. Given that premium ingredients are used in the dishes, the price is well worth it. Not only will I go back, I will recommend this restaurant to my friends. Thoughts: Amazingly Awesome!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely fantastic evening!
I had a wonderful evening at Mag's Wine Kitchen as I was fortunate to be invited for a dinner hosted by the restaurant to help showcase some lovely Leeuwin Estate wines. This has to rank as one of the most relaxing and enjoyable dinners I have had in many years. It was a pleasure to meet Mag and find out more about her passion for food, wine, music and more. The meal was beautifully and meticulously planned with each course pairing fantastically with different Leeuwin wines. Excellent entertainment was also provided and it was so pleasing to see audience participation being actively encouraged! Each and every course of the dinner was beautifully prepared and presented and a delight to eat. What I particularly loved was the fact that Mag and her team showcase the ingredients and let them speak for themselves. Where other chefs might be tempted to go further and showcase technique over taste that would cause me to forget the food itself, Mag and her team's restraint and well-considered combination of ingredients allowed flavour and flavour combinations to guide the evening. I will definitely be looking forward to coming back!
Be the first to Replykeep it simple
Have been there before, also at the previous location. Mags just manage to keep it simple, enough but not too much to choose from on the menu. Nothing comes cheap in Singapore, but the prices are very fair unlike a lot of other restaurants: the service is stylish but relaxed. The place is cosy (not too big), the kitchen is a part of the restaurants, good for couples, good for friends, good for business dinner. Simply fantastic.
Be the first to ReplyClassic perfection
Mag’s Wine Kitchen, Keong Saik Road: Unassuming, pared-down on the frills Mag’s Wine Kitchen delivers taste and pretty plating. In an era when restaurants come and go and rely on marketing gimmicks, Mag’s stand tall with good classical techniques. Lobster risotto was so rich in favour, I wish the serving was a lot larger. The octopus (although I have sworn off sentient creatures) was tender and so well executed. All the sauces were magical - never overpowering but a balance of true burst of original fresh flavours. The most surprising was the basil panna cotta - such a nice wash of basil in your dessert. True genius. All in all, this squares off as a very classical elegant dine. #eatstylishtravelstylish
Be the first to ReplyTotally brilliant evening, amazing food, superb service, highly recommend
We held a birthday celebration dinner at Mags and had the most amazing evening, I cannot recommend Mag and her team more highly. It’s a great setting with all the food prepared in an open kitchen in front of you, there is no doubt about the exceptional quality of food and cooking as a result! Our food was incredible, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious and the selections of wine the most perfect accompaniment. The absolute stand out of the evening was the service and attention from the team who made everything so easy for us meaning we could just enjoy the evening with our friends knowing that we would all be well looked after. Definitely a place to return whether that’s just as a couple or with a group of friends.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service. Good food. Not returning
Service was bad. Didn’t inform me that there was a group party of more than 20. For a small place, it was very loud and risk of spreading covid. The staff was not even considerate to transfer us until I asked. I use to pay $50 corkage, then now charging me $65. This is despite paying $150 for my 1st white wine. Very terrible service. Not returning.

A fantastic meal to celebrate my son’s birthday, excellent wine and excellent company. Great selection of starters, and a main course to suit all tastes. Definitely worth it.
, will go again.
Went here twice in 4 days!
After always walking past and being intrigued by the beautiful decor from the outside , I finally made a reservation and it was one a best decisions ever! Warm and friendly faces greet you as you walk in, the service is impeccable. I dare say one of the Top 3 best service in Singapore.
The food was absolutely delicious as well, and the wine list phenomenal. 5 Star dining without the pretentiousness because of how down to Earth Mag and her team are.
There are very few (if any) restaurants that I would go to twice in such a short amount of time, but this one was truly an exception!
Special shoutout to Rome who really made both times such a great and fun experience! Can't wait to go back again :)
Great food, poor service
It’s my friend’s birthday so we decided to try out this restaurant from a friend’s recommendation.
The food and wine were great, but the service was poor for a nice restaurant with the same price range.
We (two of us) ordered two bottles of wine for the night but the staff was absolutely inattentive - throughout the night we often had empty glasses and were waiting for wine to be served.
Also, it’s my friend’s birthday and I asked explicitly for a candle to be put on the dessert, but that never happened. What is worse is we ordered our dessert but we had been waiting for like 30 minutes because apparently the staff forgot about it. And I saw the staff suddenly realizing and taking the dessert right from the fridge.
I spoke to the manager after the bill and he apologized saying they are short staffed
But with a restaurant in this price range, this is really no excuse. there are many nice restaurants in sg and I don’t think I will make a second visit here because they totally ruined the birthday of my very good friend. I feel very bad about the kitchen staff - they did a great job and the food tasted awesome
But the service staff was awful and ruined the whole dining experience
A bib gourmand? really?
starters are not impressive, the pork for main is delicious , and 19 dollar for a glass of wine is hefty, service is good and friendly
Be the first to ReplyWonderful lunch at Mag’s
We had a wonderful lunch at Mag’s! We were greeted warmly by the staffs and it was a great experience to dine in an open concept which you can see how the chefs prepare the food.
We had a omakase style and Chef Ryan prepared our food after checking with us what we do not consume. I can see the great efforts that he have put in for all of our dishes.
Firstly, we had the alaskan king crab as appetiser - very appetising and appealing! We had 3 courses - octopus with spicy tomato, Atlantic Seabass with Japanese okra and iberico ribeye. Everything was mouth watering and amazingly delicious!! My favourite was the Atlantic Seabass which you can taste the crispiness of the fish scale and freshness of the tender meat!
We truly enjoyed our lunch and special thanks to Chef Ryan for the awesome meal. The service crews were attentive and caring throughout our entire meal. Thank you for having us!
Masterful!
Mag has stood the test of time and has been dishing out culinary masterpieces for 26 years (since 1996).
Mind blowing dishes are the lobster risotto and the crab starter grilled with little gem lettuce, topped with trout roe and truffle vinaigrette. It’s a winning combination.
Also superb is their specials. On this occasion we had their lamb loin and new on the menu the hauntingly memorable pork ribeye with sweet potato, mustard and morel cream.
Loved sitting on the counter seating with open view of the master chef at work. Best seat in the house in my opinion.
Very good wine selection for food pairing too.
Can be improved the service level !
Very casual dining environment, friendly but not so flexible / knowledgeable waiter. When I ordered the wine outside the restaurant , it took me so long for him to come outside and take my order as I have to stand in front the main door and waive my hand at him. We ordered few wines from the menu but found all no stock.. for 2 to 3 times. Then we found one with 2015 vintage but he brought out 2017 and insisted the same price hen we asked any price difference . He should have realized we knew the wine well. Despite this, the food served is excellent especially the pork ribeye and tomahawk. Enjoyed the perfect domes ness of the both meats where a great shill to ensure that. Little pink inside the pork meat showed the right temperature being used to prepare the food. I prefer the pan seared Foie gras than the spread . Pan seared Hokkaido was tasty.. so sweet to have the chef / owner do teh restaurant out to meet with us. Keep it up!!
Be the first to ReplyCosy night out with amazing food
First time that I visited Mag’s with friends and will definitely come back for more!! Tenderloin was amazing, but also the starters and desert we had. Thank you Mag, you are an amazing host and you and your very friendly staff made our night one we will remember!!
Be the first to ReplyMy new favourite place
A small cosy restaurant with such a nice ambience that you feel at ease immediately - and then the food arrives…which makes the experience even better given that the prices are not exorbitant. The food was amazing. Honestly surprised that someone can make a value for money comment. This is my new to go place for a night out to have a delicious meal which does not cost an arm and a leg but still you get a high class dinner. Each time I have been it’s been a success. This place is so recommendable and I promise that you will not be disappointed.

The ambiance of the restaurant is nice, it is set-up cozy. The food was not special, taste we sometimes off and dishes were average. Service was also not what we expected for the level of restaurant. There ate better restaurants in this price range.
