Maison Chinoise Dallas Reviews from The Last Year
PF Changs in a nicer setting.
Food was 3/5 overall and when considering on the price, 2/5. Total bill $290 for three Service was atrocious. Our server kept us captive for 2.5 hours. We ask four times for lemons for water which took every bit of 15-20 minutes to finally bring. He had quite an attitude about us asking so many times. So he disappeared for 45 minutes. When he reappeared we were finished with our appetizers. He then ask if we'd like to order more... DUH. An hour in and he hasn't ask our order, though he had taken the menus away some time before. $108 for a pecking duck that was nothing more than a Costco rotisserie chicken. The skin was left on the meat and was not crispy. Presentation was 2/5. Dumplings were meh. The Wagyu dumpling was also same level as frozen Costco dumpling. We ordered three different dumplings and the peppers which had way too much sauce and... Parmesan cheese... that was weird The lo mein was very good. The tiger prawns, 2/5 They brought an eggplant appetizer we didn't order, so we sent that back, but it did appear on our bill, even after the waiter joked and said that it would be on the house. To which we told him, we sent it back. Still on the bill... In 2.5 hours, we had one round of drinks and not from lack of trying. He wouldn't take our order, he wouldn't refill our drinks. When we finally ask for the drink, he took NO LESS than 20 minutes to bring the second round. He said, he would find "creative ways" to make it up to us for how long the drink took. I suppose the Two pieces of Moochi were his attempt to apologize- but we were there for a birthday, so a little Moochi is almost expected. He even said, "I know you're ready to go, but it's your birthday..." as if keeping us captive another 20 minutes for some Costco Moochi is something we wanted... Our waiter was slow and rude to my mother in law. He seemed to be upset with her the entire meal. With the issue with the ticket, it took 20 more minutes to check out from the time he dropped the bill. This place charges an extra 3% for credit card transactions over cash. Which I've only ever seen at liquor stores and gas stations, not very luxurious. I would recommend someone I didn't like to this place.

Vibes are amazing and the food is delicious!! Walked in without a reservation on Friday night, sat at bar for 30 minutes, then they were able to seat us. Definitely coming back.

During my recent visit to this restaurant, although the food was exceptional, my interaction with one of the managers was quite unpleasant. My friends and I arrived as walk-ins for a party of three, and despite available reservations on OpenTable, the manager, who was acting as the host, claimed the restaurant was fully booked. However, upon entering the bar area, I noticed an empty table and asked another host if it was available for open seating, to which she confirmed it was. We were attended to by a great server who took our drink order. However, the manager, Lindsey, appeared visibly frustrated and confronted the server about our presence at the table. Despite his assurance that it was okay for us to stay, Lindsey approached our table loudly and aggressively complained about our seating, citing reservation concerns and table size limitations. Despite our attempts to address her aggressiveness, she remained confrontational and eventually stormed away, leaving our party feeling extremely uncomfortable. It was an unexpected and disappointing experience, as we had hoped for a more welcoming atmosphere from the restaurant staff.

The menu is so expensive but the food and drinks were below average. The saving grace is that the service is excellent and the ambience is great inside the speakeasy (near the restrooms). They have a jazz band as well over the weekends. The seating in the restaurant is so loud that you can barely hear yourself. We ordered shrimp dumplings, shrimp starter (over fried and no flavor), hibachi appetizers (these were ok but the slice of fish was too thick) and all of them were just ok. Food needs to be really flavorful given the price but it wasn't. Even though they have their own parking lot, they still charge a $5 valet fee. I would skip this restaurant.
Visiting Dallas for a conference and found this place
Visiting Dallas for a conference and found this place through a quick google search. Food - pretty good and portions are big. More on the fancier side so expect prices to match that. They have a few dessert wines which I rarely ever see, so that was awesome. Ambiance was great - perfect for a get together or date night. Service was fantastic. We sat at the bar and our bartender did awesome and even told us about the jazz club right next door (connected to the restaurant).

A fair experience overall that I wish was better than just that. The food was over priced for what it offered and focused more on presentation than taste. Service was also quite slow. Valet is paid and was $5. Nothing wrong with that, just a note to be aware of because it isn't mentioned elsewhere.
We attended Madison for dinner.
There was live music and the setting was dark. Food: As a person who has visited Thailand, I must say the chow mein was fire! I definitely wish the position size was a bit bigger but other than that no complaints. Service: The servers were friendly and joined into with the crowd for dancing. Overall: Would recommend and looking forward to trying other dishes.
Not sure why so many people are giving this place bad
Not sure why so many people are giving this place bad reviews . Keep in mind this is a fusion Chinese restaurant of contemporary and traditional Chinese dishes . The ingredients and quality of the meat fish etc is not the same as your traditional Chinese restaurant hence the price tag difference . We ate family style and all thought the food was good . I will say I prefer my pecking duck with buns versus the wraps . Hopefully they offer buns in the future

Wonderful dinner at Maison Chinoise! Dined to celebrate
Wonderful dinner at Maison Chinoise! Dined to celebrate friends on the opening of their new franchise. Hadn't heard much about the restaurant prior to being told we would be eating here, so didn't come in with many expectations. However, once we pulled up to valet and checking in with the host, that this it was an upscale establishment. When we arrived our table wasn't ready so we were directed to the bar. One person in our party had been a couple of times and commented that she had never been seated close to her reservation time. We were at the bar for about 20 mins and an enjoyed drinks while we waited (the wait is the reason for the 4*'s and not 5). I had The Way of Xiān Wèi cocktail. I didn't realize it came with a presentation and I'm a sucker for a drink with a show, lol. Our whole group took out their phones to record it. On top of that, it was a great and balanced cocktail! Once seated, our server Alex came over quickly to get the dining experience going. The friend who had been before recommended a few starters as well as Alex. We tried the Rock Shrimp, Crispy Crab Wonton, Truffle Mushroom Dumplings and Waygu Beef Pot Stickers. Everything was flavorful and came out hot! For dinner we did the Peking Duck, Crispy Fish (Red Snapper), Braised Short Rib, Broccolini, Duck Clay Pot Rice and Waygu Beef Fried Rice. Shared a bottle of wine and few more cocktails. Each and every dish was spot on, and the bill for all of it was just over $500! I was expecting it to be no less than $750! To wrap the night up, the manager escorted us over to the Regine's, the speakeasy connected to the restaurant and we enjoyed a few more drinks and conversation over there. TIP: we initially called Regine's to make a reservation and was told that a table for 6 would come with a $1k minimum (not happening). When the manager escorted us over, the bartender sat us a temp table until a larger one opened up. No minimums, just pay for what you ordered. Recommend talking with your server to see if they can get you in with a table. It was a Friday night and the place was packed, but we still ended up with a table and no minimum! In sum, thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would visit again!
Everyone who is rating this place lower than a 4 1/2 star
Everyone who is rating this place lower than a 4 1/2 star restaurant is out of their minds. I took my husband here for his 39th birthday expecting this place to be about 3 1/2 star place because of the reviews. This place is way above that. It should be a five star restaurant in Dallas. The vibe the music, the service was amazing not to mention the incredible food which we couldn't get enough of and we kept ordering dishes because that's how impressive it was. The dessert is also very very good and the bartender is probably one of the best in Dallas if you're looking for a sexy vibe spot to go to that has amazing high-end Chinese food with good music good drinks good service definitely go here, also check out the speakeasy next-door. It's probably one of the best in the city and has live music. Tip: make sure you are dressed for the speakeasy or they won't let you in! Ciao.

Love the appetizers, drinks and the over all vibe! The service was amazing and one of the best experiences. The entrees were not so flavorful but I think it might have been because I had such high expectations after the appetizers. Would definitely go again for intimate dinner or catching up with friends.
YOU’LL BE SO GLAD YOU TREATED YOURSELF!
Maison Chinoise will certainly become one of your favorite upscale Chinese restaurants in Dallas. Each evening, thousands enjoy an amazing time in something I designed, or reviewed, but it’s always a pleasure to be invited to experience new venues to share even more. Although cuisine, and cocktails are incredibly important, hundreds will already share their culinary experience. For Lorenzo, the ambiance, and audience are equally paramount; so of course I’ll share just a bit; The decor is a mixture of impressive elements of Modern American, and Mid Century, design and architecture, with just the right amounts of Asian inspirations. The airiness of the floor plan allows dinning parties of all sizes an opportunity to enjoy their meal comfortably with perfect illumination to enjoy the eclectic crowd. The warmth, and professionalism of the staff, from valet to management will make you feel at home from the moment you pass through their spacious entrance. At that moment, you’ll be glad you selected one of your better frocks for the evening. I had the opportunity to preview the lounge, and boy will we have a classy good time. Can’t wait to enjoy Maison Chinoise with you! Xoxo Lorenzo!
DO NOT COME HERE
No matter what anyone tells you, do not come here. The portions were to small, the costumer service was terrible, and a worker did a weird dance which involved chicken wings and butt shaking. It was also WAY to expensive. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here!
First time at Maison Chinoise - everything from appetizers
First time at Maison Chinoise - everything from appetizers through desert was fabulous :-) The crab wonton are a totally different take on the standard pork wonton but truly delicious.... the Kung pao chicken was perfection, and the wine list was superb. Will definitely be back - marvelous dining experience :-)

First off, the food was really amazing, creative and delicious. The prices were relatively manageable. I will say that the songs they played were kind of cheesy and really dated (ie. Shape of you). Our server Will was really nice! Super funny and sweet, and helped us assemble our soup dumplings. The only real complaints are 1. The tables were really close together, so it was awkward because we were all listening to each other's conversations. Also, If the server wanted to squeeze between the tables, their butts would be in our face and touching our table. 2. There was an entire empty parking lot, but the restaurant had put cones in the spots so you were forced to use the valet.
Just average and pricey
First of all, I’ve been here twice. I’ve had multiple dishes on each occasion, all different. The dishes are pretty to look at, but the food is just average. The ambiance is nice, but the music seems a bit out of place. In my opinion it’s not worth the hype. The prices for some of the dishes are outrageous to be that basic and unsatisfying. Good cocktails and wine list.
Food mediocre and service not good
It's still new and trendy, and it's pretty, BUT... Food not great, service not great. Food (1) portions of entrees are tiny. We ordered several to share. They aren't really very sharable except for two people to share two entrees. There aren't enough morsels of protein on one entree to serve 4-6 people more than 1 bite. Best item we had was the black pepper beef tenderloin dish. Meat was tender, sauce was delicious! Chicken cashew was fine but not great. For appetizers the tempura green beans were pretty good but way way too salty. The lettuce wraps had teensy rock shrimp in them and looked skimpy. When we asked for most popular fish dish, there were only 2 that aren't shell fish -- a sea bass we didn't get and a "crispy whole branzino" that they said actually would be red fish. Instead of a whole fish that is battered on the outside and cooked and then cut open to reveal moist fish, the fish was filleted and the filets were cut into what seemed like rice sized pieces of fish and then HEAVILY battered in a gingery salty batter and fried and put back on top of the fish head and tail. In other words, there was nothing "whole" about the fish anymore. When you cut into the huge fried balls of fish, it was almost all batter and almost no fish. There's no way to cut the batter off the fish and eat some fish. Menu needs re-wording. Wait staff needs to explain what it is. But really they should get rid of this and serve a nice whole fish. Gross! Entire table super disappointed in this one, and it was $65. There wasn't much that had much protein in any single dish. I wonder if the sea bass is just a piece of fish or not! Buster at our table waited until end of meal to remove any dish, even as they brought more to the table and dirty dishes were ready to be removed. At the end, she stood in the middle of the table on one side and reached across people to pull each plate to the center and then stacked them ALL up, scraping food off each and every one as she went. Super Gross! Dessert disgusting and was hated by all but one person. Basically warm Nutella inside a disgusting bean paste type cover. Will not return unless improvements are made

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
