I've been coming to Mama Shelter for years because the rooftop is fun. I've always thought it would be fun to stay here for a night so when it was time for a little staycation I thought why not. $275 for the smallest hotel room I've ever been in. The windows don't open and the room and hallways smelled musty and stale. The bathroom was dirty - they have white marble over the sink/toilet and in the shower and both were disgustingly yellowed showing they haven't been taken care of over the years. The bottom of the shower where the shower door connected to the tile was also crusty. And there was no way to get hot water in the bathroom sink. So gross I chose to wait until I got home the next day to shower. There's no full length mirror, the underside of the toilet seat cover was yellow, and they provided hair conditioner but no shampoo. The other little things left in the th room (soap, vanity kit, etc.) we're all in wrinkled, faded packaging making me believe that they reuse them over and over when guests leave them behind. They say they provide secure parking for the hotel for $35 a night. When I checked in and asked about parking they literally walked me down to the end of the block and pointed down the street and said "park in that lot". What?! An unmarked, uncovered lot with no security is considered "secure parking" in the middle of Hollywood? I spent half the night praying my car would still be there when I got back with all of its windows in tact. They also charge a $28 per night resort fee. I have no clue what this covers because when I asked the girl at the front desk said "the amenities". I can't figure out for the life of me what the amenities are...there's no pool, gym or spa so I genuinely don't understand. This place is extremely overpriced, the staff isn't overly attentive or helpful (they're more worried about restaurant and bar guests), and the rooms were small, dank and clearly outdated/old. I won't be coming back.
