😒 3/5 - It was great to be in Times Square and it was nice to have

It was great to be in Times Square and it was nice to have several large, full service restaurants on site that were able to reasonably accommodate our large group. The food was good. The place was immaculate (except the base of Lady Liberty's margarita glass and some of the fake palm trees and tropical foliage) and the decor was warm and tropical - a great change from cold/semi-industrial styles in the city. But there were several things that detracted from turnover all experience ...First - it may look like a decent room rate but, incredibly, you have to pay a "Resort fee" which is laughable - what "resort"?? The pool??? That, along with all the taxes, added $100/ night. Just put that "resort fee" in the room rate.Next, the elevators were problematic. Difficult to work - they are dark and it isn't obvious every floor stop needs to swipe a card - we saw a party literally go up and down from ground floor to 6th (restaurant) several times because it wouldn't go above that without a key swipe and they didn't know to do it. It would take a long time to get one in which we could fit - one time we rode it up when it stopped at our floor just to be able to ride it back down. Also, you can't go to another floor without a room key from that floor - our family group had 4 rooms on different floors and we would have to meet on 7th (lobby) to be escorted to another family member's room/Floor. They should have an elevator pass key for families traveling together (maybe they do have such a thing - we didn't ask).Third - the bathrooms were problematic. There was little privacy because it had a sliding door with a gap and no fan (so it'd get foggy). The shower was open and if you want to use the angled shower spray rather than the rain/straight down shower (which I hate) you had to stand in front of the open section - it was cold and it'd let water splash all over the floor. The controls were on the opposite wall so not immediately reactive - switched between scalding and luke warm and, for some reason, mine shut off completely a couple times. You couldn't leave the bathroom to dry / style your hair because the room mirror wasn't near an outlet. A good thing was the towels - gave you lots of them and, even though they weren't soft (like they hung on a line to dry), they were large and heavy so one did the trick for body and hair. Fourth - the ground floor REEKED of pot - maybe that is universal throughout the city but it was overwhelming as soon as you stepped off the elevator. It was also very cold - this was a bitter cold weekend but double doors or a revolving door would help keep the cold out. Last - The room was quite small - the beds were doubles not queens, which are also short. Our adult child traveling with us stayed in a family member's room so we could each have a bed to ourselves and sleep diagonally
