Sad to say, but one of our old favorites, Mastro's Ocean club, has become a restaurant that you'll want to AVOID. It isn't even a shell of its former self. Zero stars. ^^^^ FIRST UPDATE: So as you can see below, someone from their marketing agency or corporate office responded to my review. No apology. Only a link that brings me to their corporate page where they ask me to spend more of my time to help them and gather up my private, personal information. I tried to spare details of what happened because it was such an embarrassing experience. It was suppose to have been a celebratory event with my wife, son,Parents and mother in law. It wasn't.My review was simply meant to warn people that this restaurant has changed dramatically and at this price point for a "fine dining" establishment, Covid should no longer be an acceptable excuse. Covid doesn't forgive them for serving me an already decomposing 2.5 lb lobster that was also seriously misrepresented in terms of weight. Covid doesn't forgive them for not being able to cook my father's NY Strip - medium, no red, pink center as he requested or provide him with the proper libation he requested. He had to send his drink back twice because of the wrong gin and also had to send his steak back twice, because both times the steak was bloody red/undercooked. No excuse. Covid or otherwise. Covid doesn't excuse their manager for asking me to order something more expensive after hearing about all the issues we were having and then wanting to charge me for it, especially after I discussed all of these issues calmly and discreetly, away from our table. He told me he would take off the $110 lobster and instead give me half pound crab legs at No Charge. At first, he actually wanted to charge me $180/lb! No way! I told him that if he was really being sincere about not charging me, that I'd only need a half-pound ($90 list). I thought I was being nice. He agreed. I also asked for the crab legs to be served chilled with cocktail sauce, not hot with butter. And they came out piping hot, with butter. I have to wonder if that was to hide the taste of the freezer burn. Covid - not an excuse. And to top it off - ***he charged me for them*** when he absolutely said he wouldn't!!The whole evening was just one cluster after another, and again, at this price point, Covid is no excuse. I've been coming here with my wife for 20 years! This was our actual 'first date" restaurant and we both got to know many of the servers very well over the years. The last thing, which was truly disgusting, as we departed, there was an argument taking place outside on the front steps between a what appeared very much to be a prostitute and a "potential" customer (?) fighting about the cost of who knows what. All in all, an $800 dinner worth absolutely $0.00. SECOND UPDATE: To be fair, the manager did comp some of our food, drinks and took off the lobster. And I just got a call from someone on-property who seemed genuinely concerned and said she wants to help. I appreciate that very much. I did feel badly for the server who did his best the entire evening to help, but he wasn't supported by management or operations. If you want fine dining eat elsewhere, and for goodness sakes, leave the parents and kids at home. They shouldn't have to see what is akin to the seedy side of Las Vegas, right here in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona. Enough Detail for Corporate?
