Meat Market Steakhouse Tampa Reviews from The Last Year
Lively night out in Tampa
My husband and I had a great dinner at Meat Market. The service and food were fantastic. I didn’t enjoy the loudness of the restaurant and being on top of others. I felt like I was yelling at my husband during the whole dinner. It was very difficult to relax and enjoy our bottle of wine. If we go back, it would have to be early and need to be away from the bar side. I had a headache when I left.
Good choice
We enjoyed the service and food. Most of the food was really excellent, however the meatloaf was soggy but still tasty. Good atmosphere.
The food is bland and they don't like Black people.
The Ambiance is cool tho. Solid location.
Lipstick on a pig is the best way to describe this place.
It looks nice, it looks fun and that's where it ends. We went as a party of 6 and 1/2 of us enjoyed our meals while the rest of us got really really bad food. My buddy's filet was absolutely awful. They didn't season it at all, I mean at all. I've never been somewhere that doesn't season their steak with a fleck of salt but that's how his came out. Another's was cold in the middle and she didn't order blue rare, far from it. Also found a big old hair in her Brussels sprouts. When they brought my food out the runner called my ribeye a strip multiple times and just stood there insisting it's what I ordered. I got a ribeye.... Not sure how someone at a steakhouse confused that. The next guy called my wife's tuna steak a buffalo tenderloin. WTF. So I make a comment to our server in jest and one of the food runners postured up and snapped at me looking like he'd kick my ass for being disrespectful. Really?!? Then the manager comes. We let her know all the things and then it became a negotiation on how to make it right for us and then she went back to her more senior manager like a used car dealer and wanted to see what they could do. We didn't have time to get a re-fire due to slow service and a show we were going to. All in all, when you go out and drop 2 bills on a meal and didn't even order a bottle of wine at a self proclaimed high end steak house with a dress code, I expect better. Do better Meat Market. This was an absolute joke. For anyone else reading this, save your money, time and frustration and go elsewhere. I've had better steak and service at Texas Roadhouse. Go to Charley's instead.

So finally made my way to the meet market for brunch on a Sunday for a quick birthday celebration with my family. Let's start with the ambiance 9 out of 10. It is a very cute vibe. They have plenty seating inside and outside. The bar area is a decent size. If I'm being honest though, this all the good I have to say about this place. Just as an FYI this place is very expensive so be prepared to spend $100+ pp if you're planning on eating and drinking. The food was SUBPAR, and not worth the money at all. I ordered the filet mignon and it was season-less, it just taste like a piece of meat, no salt, it wasn't juicy, just dry meat and it looked super tiny. We as well order the cocktail shrimp which came with only 2 large cocktail shrimp for like $25 very lack luster. A few people ordered the duck and waffle and they enjoyed it but again, nothing too amazing. We ordered some oysters and they seemed to enjoy them. We told them we had a birthday and they brought out a bowl of ice cream, which again, very basic. The alcoholic beverages were just OK. Also I would like to make note that I paid $72 for (3) CASAMIGOS shots! And they added in gratuity on even though we'd closed out our tables tab and ordered them totally separate as a quick thing. The service was also SUBPAR. At first glance, I thought this place would be comparable to Capitale Grill, Ulele or Flemings as far as service goes, but it was not that. While they were attentive, it just wasn't giving 5-star dining at all, just the prices lol. Now, as I said, it's cute in there so it's giving a look of being a good vibe, but I'm not really inclined to recommend it to anyone. Our tables tab was somewhere around $500+gratuity+tip. Had the experience been better I would've said OK but definitely not worth all that money. Maybe I'll try out dinner and give it one more try.

Meat Market HAPPY HOUR!!! I think this is the best Happy Hour we have ever been to and we will definitely be back. The drinks were to die for and the food was amazing. I cannot believe the amount and the quality of stuff we got for such a cheap price. I also love the whole place and we sat at the bar outside and it was perfect. Hands down the best Happy Hour in Tampa.
Go for people watching and drinks, not the food
Nice atmosphere. Slow service although friendly. Ordered medium blackened salmon. It came well done and dry and could not taste the blackened spices. Other food was at best average. Will not come back for food.

Food is wonderful! Service is excellent! And the ambience is totally engaging! Took my son here for a special dinner while we were visiting him and it was all we expected and more.

Asked for a sparkler service with a bottle of champagne was told no. Very pretentious and overall rude staff! The manager was useless his job is to accommodate the guests and he failed to do so. Unbelievable service for Hyde park. Don't waste your time with coming here. When I went to tell the mrg more thoughts he walked away! Arrogant prick. The only thing good was these corn puffs.
Amazing meal with the family, great atmosphere and fun
Amazing meal with the family, great atmosphere and fun vibes! We spent Thanksgiving at a restaurant for the first time and the experience at the Meat Market made it feel special with great memories!
Unfortunately, my recent experience at The Meat Market fell
Unfortunately, my recent experience at The Meat Market fell far short of expectations. Despite confirming our reservation the day before, we arrived to find that our booking was not in the system. This initial hiccup set the tone for the rest of the evening. The quality of the steak left much to be desired, resembling something you might find at a chain restaurant like Applebee's. The flavor was lackluster and failed to impress, especially considering the perceived reputation & prices of The Meat Market. Service was another major disappointment. Throughout the evening, there was a noticeable absence of staff checking in on us. We felt neglected and overlooked, with no one taking the time to ensure we were enjoying our meal or address any concerns we had. To add insult to injury, when we requested a baked potato to replace the poorly prepared first one, it took an astonishing 30 minutes for it to arrive at our table. This level of inefficiency and lack of attention to detail is simply unacceptable. In summary, my experience at The Meat Market was marred by poor communication, subpar food quality, and abysmal service. For those seeking a memorable dining experience, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
OVER RATED! Ambiance was good - seems like a place to be
OVER RATED! Ambiance was good - seems like a place to be seen. Had reservations inside and they tried seating us outside near a a parking ticket machine on the street. Had to wait another 30 minutes for inside table. Service was awful - took our food away before we finished. Not very attentive and the food was average - nothing great. Spend that kind of money, you should get excellent food and service. Second time going to a Meat Market Restaurant and it will be our last. Thought we would give it a second try but that was a mistake. There a MUCH BETTER steak houses!
Beautiful setting for groups, or date nights.
Food was beautiful and tasty. The food was pretty quick and overall we did not wait too long for food. Only thing I'd change is the DJ they kept changing the vibe every other song but with all the talking it's not a big deal.
Gourmet of Glitzy? Both!
At the Meat Market a Maserati disgorges a glamorous couple dressed from the pages of Vogue into a pulsating restaurant scene (not us). After reviewing almost 500 restaurants around the world, my expectations for a high-quality meal are low in this type of restaurant BUT the opposite is true. A tender halibut dish with shaved black truffle, wagyu filet, west and east coast oysters, and passion roll are a test to the kitchen’s skills, and they delivered. Excellent waitstaff service ensured dishes moved in and out seamlessly – never rushed nor delayed (shout out to Stacy – our waitperson). Food quality justifies the hefty prices. Meat Market is a very glitzy restaurant – the people watching is fantastic. However, Meat Market delivers some of the best quality food in Tampa. An aside: their dress code requires men to wear long pants and it is a GREAT idea. I’m tired of untucked shirts, shorts, and sandals in a restaurant where you expect to spend no less than $100 per person.
Dissapointing
Waiter was nice, food very disappointing. $55 ribeye, 50% fat. Dried out duck. Will not be going back. Dress code is a farce, people wearing T shirts, sleeveless T's,
Family time here 🎄🙏✅
Our server was Kenzie. She was amazing. We are foreigners and the food was new for us. She kindly explained every meal on menu. The taste of Salmon and beef was amazingly good. Tasty. I do advice this place to everyone✅✅✅🙏🎄🎄 Come and enjoy time here. 🙏
Lots of attitude and disorganization
Prior to arriving, the restaurant called 2x and reminded us of the strict dress code- really not necessary and annoying! Upon arriving we were greeted by a young girl who was unfriendly and had a horrible demeanour. She told us to wait along the side and was full of attitude. No smile, no welcome, just miserable. Not even sure if she liked her job. When we finally got seated (nobody knew what was going on- the management team kept bumping into each other and couldn't figure out where to place people. We had to wait for a piece of paper to pop out of a machine in order to get seated. Happy hour was unhappy as there was virtually not much to choose from. We asked waitress about the oysters and she said that they were different from main menu and chosen by the chef- didn't want to take a chance just in case they were not great. We ended up selecting from main menu. Food was average. Our main issue was the whole attitude of the place which we hated and therefore din't have a great time. Management should review their policies and train their team to reflect a more inviting vibe!
Fresh ingredients
Beautiful place for a beautiful crowd! The atmosphere is great and the food was outstanding! This was our first time here and we were lucky to have a great server named Gabriel. Ask him about his nine lives. We started with some of the freshest sushi I ever had and followed by the devil eggs topped with caviar. Our entrees were short ribs with poached eggs and truffles potatoes. I would love to comeback and try the dinner menu.
Not impressed
This was my first experience with this restaurant. They contacted the person who scheduled the reservations to inform her of the strict dress code and was informed if anyone in our party did not meet the dress code they would not be allowed into the building. We arrived on the night of the reservation, they would not sit us at the table until the entire party arrived, and I noticed people were wearing jeans, which was something they informed the person who booked the reservations was not allowed. We sat down at our table to find out we had 2 people who would be waiting our table. It was very annoying. Every time we started a conversation one of them would come over and interrupt us. I felt like they were in my face constantly, removing silverware, placing silverware, reviewing the menu despite we already knew what we wanted, bringing an electronic device over and bending down to ask us if we wanted anything else to drink or if we wanted desert, lifting up part of the table to make it bigger to place dishes on the table. The manager stood around with a stern face watching everything like a mobster. To me it was not a very comfortable and relaxing evening with friends. I have never been to a restaurant where there was so much table activity with the staff. The food was ok. I ordered the fried califlower for an appetizer, it tasted like they put the entire califlower head in a pot of boiling water and sprinkled a little bit of seasoning on top, it was not fried at all, it was boiled, would not recommend this appetizer.
Sucked
Was dressed better than 90% of the people in there but had on flips flops. In summer in Florida. Was denied entrance to sit at the bar. This isn’t Berns. Get some perspective on things.
Chaotic Excellence
The buzz of the guests creates a wonderful, almost chaotic atmosphere – everyone is having a good time. The people watching is an added benefit, as the “beautiful people” stroll through the restaurant. But the reason to go to MM is the quality of the food and service. First, the food quality is excellent: oysters, salad, sushi, wagyu steak, dessert – all well prepared and flavorful. Second, the wait staff (especially Zack and Connor) were knowledgeable and attentive – not overbearing. We were coming back to MM after a long absence -- the past issues have been resolved and the new experience is one of the best in Tampa. We’ll be back and bring our out-of-town guests too.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
Payouts
Anyone know how increase payout transfer to bank as I can only send $50 a day and they charge $5 for every transaction. There must be a way. I’ve contacted support two days ago and not a reply.

I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!
