As Asian as Taco Bell is Mexican
Has absolutely nothing to do with Asian cuisine. More of a wannabe fusion restaurant. Nicely decorated and that's it!
Be the first to ReplyPleasantly surprised
I went to Mekong by chance and was very pleasantly surprised. Airy atmosphere, friendly service and very tasty food.
Be the first to ReplyI'm never going back - offensive and unprofessional behaviour
I was a regular here. I liked the food, drinks and atmosphere. Sadly something happened that caused me to never set foot in this restaurant or hotel again. I walked past the security guard into the restaurant, and ordered a drink from my table. My date arrived, so I went to the street to accompany her to our table. The security guard dashed before me, demanding to know if I was staying at the hotel. I let him know that I was not staying at the hotel, and that I was dining at the restaurant. I asked him what was going on. He refused to answer, and continued to obstruct my passage back to my table in the restaurant. About a minute and a half later his colleague arrived. She too asked if I was staying at the hotel. I gave her the same answer. She said I could go back to my table, but failed to apologise, and refused to explain what had just happened. I asked for the manager. A manager by the name of Andrea came. She didn't know what had happened, and was speculating what could have been the reason for her colleagues' responses. Andrea made clear to me that the restaurant belonged to the hotel, and the hotel could do as it pleased. I already knew this. I asked her to return once she had taken the opportunity to investigate. Andrea never returned. Over an hour later I went looking for Andrea. Eventually, her colleagues were able to find Andrea. Andrea made a claim to have been watching the video footage, which I find hard to believe - I think that Andrea had no intention of getting back to me, and was simply hoping that I would go away. Andrea again reiterated her point that the hotel could do as it pleased - which I had understood from the start, and here she was making her point a second time. I believe that Andrea was trying her best not to account for her colleagues' behaviour. I gave Andrea ample opportunity to apologize and explain. She chosen to decline on both fronts. So if you want to risk you and your guests being confronted and obstructed, with no apology or explanation being given, go to eat at the Mekong restaurant or go to the bar at the Click Clack Hotel.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Asian fare
We went to this restaurant at the Click Clack hotel twice as it was a simple and delicious option after a long day out and about on the city. The food was excellent with lots of flavor and easy for sharing. The 4 is because the second night, our menu selections were chicken tacos and chicken spring rolls - both with less flavor and drier than their alternatives (pork tacos and shrimp spring rolls) from the previous night. The waitstaff was attentive and Carolina was especially delightful.
Be the first to ReplyVery far from authentic thai food
The food has nothing to do with thai food i was living in thailand and i can say i ordered a lot of dishes and every single one was far away from authentic thai food i am pretty sure the chef never been to Thailand
Be the first to ReplyDecent Thai with Good Experience
Generally speaking it's hard to find authentic ethnic food in South America and Mekong meets that expectation. Although better than many other places, it's far from the original. I think having authentic expectations isn't all that realistic. Nonetheless it was overall pretty good. The ambiance is great and the service much better than typically in the area. Even though some of the food wasn't authentic, it was still quite good. As long as you manage your expectations, it will be enjoyable. Fave dish was some sort of fish carpaccio.
Be the first to ReplyNot a true pad thai dish for a thai restaurant
I ordered the Pad Thai via Rappi and I really did not feel I got my money's worth. The food came in a chinese food container and there I could see the noodles were lumped together with the chicken, peanuts, and beansprouts on top. Whoever cooked the chicken did NOT have wokhai at all so the meat was not seared or browned. And it was not cooked in with the dishes. The sauce contained no sweetness and was a lot of cilantro which was not good at all. And as with many other restaurants that try to sell egg fried rice or asian dishes that call for eggs, there was no egg in the dish at all.
Be the first to Replythai food?
This place is really nice and popular with English speaking people. The food is ok for being cooked by non thai chefs. service was great. I would eat there again, until I come across a better thai restaurant
