Mezza Grille & Market Houston Reviews from The Last Year

We first went here around 2000 when we lived around the corner. It was a regular place for a few years until we moved abroad. Then again 2007-2009 it was a mainstay u til we moved abroad again. Now we are back in houston again and not so close but it's a treat. Large great starters, taboulli salad, grilled eggplant , hummus , salads, and tasty mains, some of which are displayed. On a sat night they are crowded and a bit overwhelmed, but they never rush and with the portions you don't rush from starters to main. Friendly owners and wait staff, food is kind of a mix of Mediterranean and new fusion American whatever that means.
American Medi Fusion Comfort Food
My family enjoyed the best meal we have had in a long while in Houston. So happy to write this review. Mezza is an American grill with Mediterranean flavors and offered the best of both cuisines. It is a FUSION concept and it excels in that genre. Side note - I have a gluten intolerance and they were able to bring me delicious GF chips with the appetizer . What a nice bonus!! We had the brie appetizer - perfectly yummy! The bread eaters loved the grilled bread with it along with walnuts and jam. For mains we had the spicy lamb which was Moroccan influenced with raisins in the rice and a nutmeg flavor on the lamb. Perfectly seasoned and prepared. Two of us shared the Mango chicken and again it was perfectly seasoned and prepared. My picky eater gobbled it up and wants to come back ASAP for more. We didn't have deserts as we had plans to go to the chocolate shop Zeina next door but we will have to try them on our next visit. We were their last table on a Sunday night and we had awesome service and beautifully prepared dishes. Jay was attentive and helpful with ordering. Five stars and a definite return visit!!
Had a delightful dinner here last night with my dad.
Everything was delicious- Mezza salad, Beef Shish Kebab and Schwarma Wrap. The service was also excellent! Highly recommend!
Service was wonderful, very attentive.
Good size portions, great salads and Mediterranean selections, lots to choose from. Highly recommended !
Inside is very plain and uninviting.
Outdoor patio was nice. Music was loud and in general not good. Need Mediterranean music. Friendly and helpful server. Lots of variety on the menu. Meat with good flavor, moist and not overcooked. Fresh veggies. Good flavor in the sauce. Some things feel overpriced though. I would return. :)
Food and drinks-everything we had was absolutely amazing.
Mango chicken is to die for. A definite must try.
Good food, generous portions and reasonable prices
On our vacation in Houston, we found this place TripAdvisor. After checking out the reviews, we decided to try it. It was quite good, my wife had the fish tacos, which she really enjoyed, as well as a tasty hibiscus margarita. I had a very good bowl of tortilla soup, which was more like a full tureen of soup, it was a very generous portion. The boys had standard kid fare of grilled cheese sandwich and chicken tenders and fries. I would certainly go back if I was ever traveling in Houston again.

One of my go to places if I want delicious food and the opportunity to have conversation with the people at my table. The chicken skewers are fabulous and don't miss out on the dipping sauce! Love, love, love the red pepper dip. The crispy pita chips that are brought to the table as, a nibble, are over the top fabulous!
Good Rice, Did not Like the Hummus
Went here because of ratings and looking for Greek style gluten free dairy free food. The waitress told us that the marinades have butter. So my husband could only get the grilled chicken and salad. We also had the humus and it did not smell or tasted fresh. I got the chicken kabobs. That came with an excellent rice. That dish was good.
Everything excellent! Food is consistently very good.
Service great. Very consistent over the more than 10 yrs I've eaten there. Enjoy!!
Just ate a Mezza Grill.
Food was delicious- falafel plate and mixed grill!! The complimentary chips and oil dip is also wonderful. Service was impeccable! It never seems crowded- I don't know why!! They also have Italian, Mexican, and American items on the menu. It is all around good.

The food was excellent! My salad lasted me 2 days and was still fresh the next day. We did not dine in but would like to next time.
Love the food in this place! Service is great too.
It was President's Day which might explain the availability of seats because they should be packed every day for lunch.
I was looking for a good Mediterranean spot and did some
I was looking for a good Mediterranean spot and did some research on social media. This place cooks meat to perfection. I ordered chicken, lamb, and fish. The spicy fish sandwich is incredible. As well as the lamb shank being super tender. I also ordered calamari which was flavorful the coating made it extra crispy. The fries were cooked perfectly. The kebab/shank comes with rice the lamb was falling off the bone, I did not prefer the rice, because I do believe there's maybe nutmeg/cinnamon in it but that's all personal preference. and would recommend if you don't mind that. The only thing that I would not order again would be the bread pudding. It had a very milky/dairy aftertaste and I didn't taste the white chocolate or vanilla. But for entrées, appetizers, soup and salad main courses this is a great spot and I will definitely be coming back to try new items!
Love this restaurant.
Food is delicious and the staff is AMAZING! Lord of open parking and a good patio.
Mezza is my favorite Houston hidden gem.
It somehow provides affordable options without compromising on the quality of the meals or service. I believe this restaurant is family owned and you can feel the warmth that comes with that upon setting foot in the restaurant. The only problem I come across is picking a dish. Some of my favorites include the filet chunks, the lamb chops, the stuffed chicken, the shwarma, and the pastas. There is also a full service bar on the side of the restaurant. The dessert menu changes from time to time but there's a reason the bread pudding and tres leches consistently stay on the menu (they're both amazing). My favorite part is that you can enjoy a pot of tea with your dessert.
10/10 going back for years to come
Came here with my girlfriend and I have to applaud the chef because the food was absolutely incredible. We had a mix of the hummus, lamb chops and chicken shawarma. Definitely going back for the food and the quick service too. Our waiter was always on alert and quickly attended to us when needed. 10/10
Is this really Middle Eastern food?
I had never eaten here before today, when I stopped by to pick up takeout for lunch since I was in the neighborhood. I ordered the Shish Tawook, or chicken kabob with grilled veggies and garlic sauce. I can honestly say that nothing on this plate of food has a Middle Eastern flavor, not one thing. There is a sweetness in whatever they brushed on the chicken before they grilled it that permeated the whole plate, and the chicken is tough and dry. The so-called garlic sauce was even sweeter, with no evidence of any garlic or garlic flavor in it. I have had to throw the whole thing away. The worst Middle Eastern restaurant I have ever been to in Houston, where there are so many great ones. What a disappointment.
